CHARLES GREEN GETS A WRIT OF ERROR
Attorneys Wm. P. Denny and C. A. McKenzie just received notice from the Clerk of the Supreme Court of Appeals of a writ of error granted in the case of the Commonwealth against Charles Green. It will be remembered that this man was tried and convicted for "robbery" on the Petersburg, Tumpike, Stop 17 and was tried at Chesterfield Court House on the 2nd day of last June by a jury who gave him 18 years in the pen.
Attorney Denny said that the case will be fought through the Supreme Court and feels sure, of a reversal of the lower Court.
The public is much interested in the out come of this case.

about fifty cases of diphtheria in
Wytheville; but thanks to excatlent
medical attention, there were no
deaths. Deaths from diphtheria nown
days may properly be charged to neg:

have antitoxin available or carlessness

Wytheville doctors were never nest:
lectful or eureless.
As was pointed out here by the
eepresentatives off the State Board cf
Health, autitoxin, if adininistered in
@ caso that proves later not to have
deen diptheria, can do no harm; while
if it proves to be diphtheria the admin
istration may and almost invarlably
does save a life. ‘That was the lesson
of antitoxin. ‘The other and probably
the moro important. lesson concerned
personal habits. Diphtheria spreads by
the exchange of nose and mouth secre-
tions. If children aro taught to keep
out of their mouths all things that do
not belong there, they are not apt to
have diphtheria even if exposed to It
in their own families. ‘The most ordi-
nary Method of acairing the disens
is through the use of a eup that has
horn used by another person. Unfortn
nately, diphtheria is like several of
the other dangerous diseases, it has
so many mild or unrecognizable types
that precautions must not be restrict
ed to those who retunlly havo the
disease. Al nost anyone may he a eay-
rier. Conscatently, the State Roard of
Health insists that no matter who wses
