Brev W.J. DeBoe, after Twelve Months of Hard Labor as pastor of Taylor Chapel.
Wll Wind Up Tomorrow
Rev DeBoe, who has been laboring hard in our city during the past year, as pastor of Taylor Chapel M. E Church, in now finishing up his work and preparing to answer his name in the next M.E Conference with convenes at Louisiana Mo. During his term in our city as a pastor he has served them well at all times and places and the result was that much good has been did towards improving the church, during the year many improvements has been made, new electric lights, newly papered, painted and a number of other needed improvements have been made during his pastorary. We do not aim to say that Kev DeBoe did alif nf this himself, but he did his part as a christian leader. As a worker and a leadr, there are but few better and if the members of this should lose hime they will have lost a valuable man. should the conference sign him back in our midst, we will giadly welcome him and and his family.
They Raised $20
The members and pastor of the Taylor chapel, should certainly be proud of the magistrate concert given at this church Friday night by Mrs Teeters a very popular and successful teacher of the Lincoln High School and her well trained pupils, in which they raised $20.00 at the door for the benefit of Rev DeBoe. The program contained twenty-six excellent number, and the pupils rendered them with great credit to themselves an their teachers, to the crowded audience

H. W. MEUSCHKE IS THE MAN FOR ALDERMAN.
H, W. Mueschke, who is the citleen nominee for alderman of the First ward is one of Sedalia's leading citizens, who has been engaged in business here for years and helped to make the city what it is today. He is foremost in every movement tending toward the interest of Sedalia and the people therein
During the past two years he has served as chairman of the Republican City Central committee. The nomination of this gentleman for alderman was unexpected and unsolicited, his friends well knowing that the affairs of the city would be properly conducted and looked after. He knows the needs and wants of the people in this ward, and will do his duty toward all class. The colored voids can find no better man for this office, so whmn election cay comes turn out and give time your sup. rt, and you will have done your duty
WHY WE SHOULD RE-ELECT MAYOR BABCOCK.
Because he has made a good and fearless officer.
Because he has used every effort to bring the city out of debt.
Because the Mayor's office demands a man of his ability.
Because he is a friend of all classes regardless of color.
Because he knows what it takes to run a city like Sedalia. Because the people have confidence in him as our executive officer.
Candidate For Constable
Mathew Meyer, who was robbed out the city Aessessors olica two years ago now a candidate for Constable of Sedlia-Township on the republican ticket
There is some talk of establishing a gymnasium and reading room by the colored society people of the city, where nothing but the most respectable will be admitted. It is a well known fact that the club rooms as they are now conducted are not the proper places for our young people to congregate, as the main object of the proprietors is to sell the liquor they have there. We have good schools, where our young folks are educated, and for which we all pay taxes. We do not wish to say that that this movement will will probibst anyone of their liberty of buying liquor if it is needed for medicinal purposes. These joints must be suppressed, or the best element will protest. Abolish all these public clubs where liquors are sold and where cur young girls will be protected and allowed to pass unmolested.

Advertising is the greatest of all modern engines for facilitating business. Beside it, the telegraph, the telephone, the locomotive and steamboat are dwarfed. If it were not for advertising, these would not be used. Business would not be of sufficient volume to justify their employment.
The man in Chicago advertises, and the man in St. Paul buys—by telegraph, perhaps—and has his purchase delivered by the locomotive. But the advertising came first. It always does.
It conveys information, and an invitation to buy at the same time. An advertisement in the best paper in town places this

No wonder the Jeffersonion tickit couldn't stand. When the people thought of the past and the present.
It seems as if the Jefferson ticket had but a short time to live it was on Tuesday night and died without a struggle Wednesday night. Only two of them are now left to tell what happened.
The question now is, will the citizens movement be more beneficial to the Negroes of our city during the next two years than the party movements has been in tee past four years? Well it wont hurt try them once and see.
The Socialist proposes to use the government in behalf of the trades Union. They want the Negroes to help them into power and at the same time invite him to stay out of their Labor organizations. What think ye of this? 'Equality" eh—!
Nearly all of the persons nominated on the Jeffersonian Democratic ticket last Tuesday night has already withdrawn excepting as following For Meyor—R. H DEAN For Collector—T. T. CLIFFORD. For Police Judge—Rouch The remoinding officers may be added today.

people of our city, but is one who has spent many years among us as a party worker, business man and an honorable citizen. He was a candidate two years ago for city Assessor and was elected by a good majority, but by unfairiness he was robbed of the office.
He thorough acquainted with the duties of this office in every respect, thoroughly capable and qualified to proform every duty with credit to his party and to the whole people. He honored and respected by who know him, and will go before the convention with hundreds of republican and democrats as his supporters. He is a common evers day man and one who has proven himself to be friend to the colored people. Should he be given this nomination his electron is assure, and the republican banner will continue to wave over the Constable's in Sedalia Township.
During the past few weeks the people have worked up over the citizens ticket many of them opposed, while there were a large who were in favor of it. So the the committees issued the call for the ward cancuses to elect the delagates and the said delagates should meet in convention and there confirm or reject the proper sillon and nominate a ticket.
But when these caucuses was called to oerer by the different ward committeemen, then and there was the time for the opposing factions to fight the movement down, but enstead of them being hand ready to battle they stayed at home to await the results, and citizen's or fusion movement was carried without a rub. But those stayed at home are now making the hollow. We were among the fighters, but like all other party fighters we are perfectly satisfied when the majority rules as did in this instance. The ticket as has been named is made up with some of our best citizens and business men, men who have been tried and have given perfect satisfaction in every respect, and it
good men is what the people want to run our city, could not have got a better ticket then the present republican-democrat ticket. We cannot see nor can we understand where and how Negroes of our proud city can benifit them selves by turning down our best citizens and supporting the U S or the J-D-P. We have learnt of Socialism and what they are doing for and against the Negroes in the industrail world. We have ried Democratic and the republican city administration time and again, and the Negro has never reaped any benifits in the way of improvement side-walks, crossings of streets, all he got was a liberal promise and one policeman and a janitor. But now since the city government has been taken out of politics and put into hands of those who's interest is for the up-building of the city, the Negro chances are more favorable, for persons who will be appointed to the different places will or should appointed on his merits and ability fill such place and on any political or money influence, and we believe to that improvements will be made in all parts of city regard less color, wealth or political influences. And if the citizen ticket will live up to what they say, the political wire-pullers, money inflicment or color will have any bearing in the next city appoint ment, but only qualified and competent men considered
So we say to the colored voters that you will no mistake in trying the new scheme of citizenism. don't stay at home on election day. for there a duty you must proform if you want your race to be properly cared for in the issuing of the city pie. We cannot get any thing from the Socialist party and the Jeffersonian democrats has nothing for you. Now will you act wisely and stop your groung and fighting and within yourself or by your actions, if the citizen's ticket will help better our town financially, bring more business' purify the city, reduced the city debt, reduce the city taxes, make more improvements on all city properity, give more employment to the laboring men of our city, then you can arrive some benifit, And it will you duty help support it at the polls April next.
Mayor Babcock has made one of Sedalia's most creditable executive officers, and and one who has always looked after the city's uterests.
A. L. Shortridge, the nominee for city attorney, is a warm friend of the colored people.
Edward Love, one of the best men who ever filled the office of marshal, is again a nominee. He is a feeress, brave officer, and one who will do his duty at all times. Leave him where he is for his equal would be hard to find.
E, R. Anuler, the present treasurer has performed the duties of his office with satisfaction to all. Leave him where he is.
Frank Monroe for assessor, is one of Sedalia's best young men.
J. W. Truxel, the present police judge has made a good officer, and to look for a better one is not necessary.

Short Talks On Advertising ByCharles Austin Bates.
There are two ways of looking at advertising, both of them right. Advertising should be done during the dull time for the purpose of stirring up trade at that time, and

HEAD NOISES CEASE IMMEDIATELY.
F. A. WERMAN, OF BALTIMORE, SAYS:
Gentlemen: Being entirely cured of deafness, thanks to your treatment, I will now give you a full history of my case, to be used at your discretion.
About five years ago my right ear began to sing, and this kept on getting worse, until I lost my hearing in this ear entirely.
I underwent a treatment for catarrh, for three months, without any success, consulted a number of others, among others, the most eminent ear specialist of this city, who told me that only an operation, only one time, and even that only the head noises would then cease, but the hearing in the affected ear would be lost forever.
I then saw your advertisement accidentally in a New York paper, and ordered your treatment. After I had used it only a few days according to your directions, the noises ceased, and to-day, after five weeks, my hearing in the diseased ear has been entirely restored. I thank you heartily and beg to remain.

ys as he should think of months in the year and trade would keep him store in the country that for four months out of the
very long to forget things, and if a store or the advertising stopped four months, a have forgotten that the business was in tising is that it ought to be pushed during the busy time when people are ready to buy. Advertising cannot be expected to sell goods when people do not want them, and it will naturally be most effective when it gives publicity to some desirable article at just the right time.
