SEND ON REMONSTRAGCE.
8 Every prominent Negro in the United States should send remonstrance to Senators Platt, Burroughs and Spooner against the centrification of Geo R Koester, recently abointed Udited States Revenue collector, for South Carolina. The Negroes of South Carolina charge Koester with being a Negro lyncher. He has admitted it to the President but calls his act "good citizenship," Mr. Koester's act consisted in volunteering to capture a Negro charged with an assault, capturing oim, sturning him over to be lynched, and only having humanity enough in him to prevent the man being burned alive. E H Dayis, a prominent colored South Carolinian, C B Purvis of Washington, and the three Senators mentioned ask that the remonstrance be sent to them. Cry out against him.
PRINCE HENRY AND THE NEGRO
A few days ago when Booker T Washington was questioned about his consultation with Prince Henry he said: "As I understand it the prince asked Admiral Evans to have me presented to him mainly for the reason that he wanted to talk with me concerning the work of the Fuskegee graduates who are introducing the raising of cotton in the German-African colony. The Prince also spoke of being deeply interested in the progress of the Negro in America, about which he asked a very que stions.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
FOR PROBATE JUDGE
We are authorized to announce the name of F. E. HOFFMAN, as a republican candidate for Proba'e Judge, subject to the actions of the Republican Party.
FOR CONS TABLE
We are authorized to announce the name of Mathew Meyers as a republican candidate for Constable of Sedalia-Township, subject to republican convention.
We are authorized to announce the name of James C. Conners, as a democratic candidate for Constable of Sedalia Township, subject to the democratic convention or primary.
We are authorized to announce Chas W. Letitch, as a democratic candidate or Constable of Bedara-Township, subject to the democratic convention or primary
How do you like the change
It appears as if the change went a little Democratic.
If the man who works for party success from beginning to end is not entitled to some pie, who is?
Joe Johnson was the lucky one among the colored people to get on the police force, while Walter Parker was given the janitorship.
The city salaries in New York are to be cut 10 per cent, which will save the city nearly half a half a million a year.
Mayor Reed, Democrat, was re-elected in Kansas City Tuesday by 956 majority but the Republican candidate for mayor of St. Joseph came in 8 ahead. Small tavors thankfully received.
President Roosevelt presented that much talked of sword to Maj. Jenkins ac Charleston Wednesday but Tillman oh where is he?
Two Maryville Democrats have refused to accept offices tendered them. Possibly they are so close to Iowa that the climate has affected them. Democrats don't act that way in this part of the State.
Some of the strong colored poll workers now say that: if a man wants to get a police job just fight the party from which he hopes to get the appointment from and he will be alright.
Mr Hamlin, who has been nominated for congress in the 7th district, has been nominated three times for prosecuting attorney and once for State senator, and defeated each time, and the gerrymander in the 7th district suits him to a "T," but there is a strong suspicion that he may lose enough
of his party vote next November to add one more to his long list of defeats.
We re preparing to get out a Church, Society and Business directory soon
The concert given at the [Quinn chapel Friday ntght, under the directions of Miss Gurtrude Johnson and Mrs Minnie Stewart was a delightful affair. A large numinstrumental and vocal solosdeclamations and recitations from the pupils of Lincoln High school made up an excellent program
There is some changes that could be made in our county officials this fall teat would be a great benifit to the colored people, and there only will come at the county convention and at the polls on election day. We must begin to putting our forces together now and do all that we can against any candidate for judge of the county court that is or will be against any competent Negro for janitor of court house. If the present court is against any competent Negro for this umble and slavish possession, then the Negroes throughout the county has a just right to fight them down, whither he be a democrat or a republican. It is a fact that there never has been a Negro deputy or clerk in any department of the court house, and the looks affairs just now seems to tell us that the time has not come yet. But the time has long since come and gone when the eleven hundred or more Negro voters of Pettis county should have had a representative in this court house as janitor. So we urge upon you to be on your guard and less put some Negro from some part of in as janitor.
In this weeks issue of the TIMES we are pleased to present to our readers, the name of Mr. E. E Hoffman, who is a republican candidate for Probate Judge. Mr. Hoffman has been a life long republican and a residence of our city for the past twenty-five years or more, and has always been one among the leaders in our business circles, never shurking a thing that had a attendency to benifit our city or county. He has always been known as a warm friend to the colored people, and has kept them in constance employment for years. Should our party give to him this nonnation, he will not only carry the full party vote but will add great strenght to the intire ticket. He worthy and fully qualified to proform every duty connected to the office with credit to the county in general and to himself.

stays. The longer it stays in one spot the better—if it is properly conducted. Show methods of advertising will beget suspicion. Can't have "startling reductions" and "bankrupt sales" every day. That doesn't mean never have a "sale." Have plenty of them, but find a good honest reason for each one and "fight it out on that line." Remember the boy who cried "Wolf!" and don't say anything startling unless it can be backed up with the facts. If you cry "Wolf!" let folks hear him how.

I don't believe in cute advertising. It may pay in the show business. I've heard that it does.
The other day I asked a theatrical manager whether he had ever tried newspaper advertising alone and unaided by posters. He said he had. Said he had tried posters alone, too, and that a combination was better, but he said: "Novelties and startling effects are best of all."
That is for theatricals.
Business methods and show methods must of necessity differ. A show stays a day, or three days, or a week. May never come again.
Must get all it can then, and get it quickly. There must be a "hur-rah." The more people are startled and the more their it isn't that what spoticed. will ingery a ind and ber don't be cry THE GAIETY GIRL ONE NIGHT ONLY. NEXT TOWN 5 MILES

Chateau de Speer Wines
of Passalic, N. J. Vineyard
Old rice and mellow by age and years of care and frequent racking in enclosed cellars as is done with the Chateau Wines in France.
THE MUSEUM OF THE WESTERN WESTERN WESTERN
The Chateau contains a limited supply of Private Stock Port nineteen years old, besides Burgundy and Claret nearly the same age. The Speer Port, however, nine years old, as well as the Burgundy, Claret and Sherry, are high class wines. The ★★★ Climax Brandy is 18 years old. All are preferred where known by the Medical profession as superior to any that can be bead, for
their excellent effect upon the system when used by invalids, the weakly aged persons and in general family use. Northern New Jersey climate, and soil abounding in iron is just adapted for this grape for Port wine. It is the same kind of soil as in Portugal. Speer's winery and vineyards are the only Port grape vineyards in the United States; only vineyards that cultivate the real Port wine grape of Portugal; while other wines or mixtures called port are made without a single Oporto grape in them. Mr. Speer is the first and only one who imported the vines and acclimated the real Port wine grape vines of Portugal. He spent thousands of dollars as a hobby to see what he could do toward acclimating these Portugal vines here. It took eight years for them to become acclimated before Mr. Speer got a single grape; during these years all died except about eight hundred vines, when those began to grow vigorous and bear fruit; from these, layers were made for new vines. The vineyards now cover fifty six acres. It has proved a success. The grapes are allowed to hang on the vines until they begin to raisin, when they have parted with some of the water and are rich in sugar; and the wine made from. Port wine grapes is the only real genuine Port wine made in America. It is by far THE wine the weakly persons, the aged and for evening entertainments.

From Infancy To Age
Mother and Child
When they become pale and languid, face bloodless, eyes dull, head aching, feet and hands cold, appetite gone or abnormal, and their systems generally run down, they need building up, and their blood needs cleansing.
Give them LAXAKOLA; its gentle bowel action to cleanse, and its tonic properties to build up the system, will show immediate and most beneficial results.
It acts promptly, surely but gently on the bowels, and while stimulating the liver to increased activity, its tonic properties strengthen the nerves, renew vitality and restore color to the face and life and animation to the whole system. It is the only tonic laxative that strengthens and tones them up.
Laxakola for Mothers.—It is particularly valuable and useful to women, especially mothers, as it is a gentle and safe remedy to use during all conditions of health whenever their peculiar and delicate constitutions require a mild and efficient laxative and tonic; while to nursing mothers, worn out with the care of infants and whose systems therefore are particularly susceptible to disease, LAXAKOLA directly appeals.
It clears the complexion, brightens the eye, sharpens the appetite, removes muddy and blotched condition of the skin and cures sick headache to a certainty by removing the cause.
To women suffering from chronic constipation, head-aches, biliousness, dizziness, sallowness of the skin and dyspepsia, LAXAKOLA will invariably bring relief and a positive and permanent cure.
What Mrs. Edw. Puch, K. Palestine, G., Box 125, says about LAXAKOLA. "March 11, 1961. Received your sample, it has done so much good, send me a box, bottle." March 22. "Bottle came safe, did me a lot of good damage here don't keep it, so enclosed is too, please send me quickly another bottle. The last bottle did me so much good I want another at once." April 6th. "Enclosed is too, please send me more bottle LAXAKOLA. It has done me much good."
Laxakola for Old Folks. In the Autumn and Winter of Life, when the various organs through long years of action have become more or less sluggish, it becomes necessary to stimulate them by some remedy best adapted to that purpose. So long as the stomach and bowels are doing their work properly and the liver and kidneys are active and strong, your food is assimilated properly, your blood is kept pure and rich, and your nerves are strong. The feeling of nervousness, general weakness and debility means that the whole system is run down and needs a general toning up.
That LAXAKOLA DOES IT, has been proved beyond all question. Its gentle warming, soothing action on the bowels, liver and kidneys, stimulates them to increased activity, cleanses the blood, quickens the circulation, and puts the whole system in a condition of health and enables it to ward off disease, while its tonic properties tone up the system and keep it healthy.
Laxakola Does It.
