PROF WM LYNCH
For Superintender of Public SCHOOL
Of Mountain Grove. Mo., who's reclev ing endorseme nts for the Press of the State.
In the master of material for the office of State Superintendent, the Republican party lacks not in this respect. True to it, past history and traditions it is now ever amply supplied with men of brain and virtue to fill the positions that present themselves. Every section has material and men broad, scholarly men, men of intellect and ability—who would be creditable to the party and State in any position. But Lynch is not confined to section. He is from the state of Missouri, the grand old Commonwealth, a nation within itself in its resources and its material worth. Long since he has ceased to be sectional, but his depth of thought and breadth of character have expanded him until he stands at the head of the columns. We say "stands" but Lynch never stands. In his lex con of life there is no such word as "stand." but ever on and on; his banner to the breeze in the foremost ranks. on which he emblazoned that noble, inspiring sentiment, "The newspapers are the universities of the common people." What an inspiration! How anew would gush the life blood of our public schools with such a man, such a sentiment, in still energy and life into its lethargic exist nce.
This is Republican yaar. The decree has gone forth that Democracy must retire. The man who goes upon the ticket this year is a picked winner, but that victory may be doubly sure, that 10,000 may be added to the Republican column throughout the state no possibility contingency must arise that will result in leaving Wm. H. Lynch off the ticket for this important position. Put him on the ticket. See the army of voters, who was his pupils in the paet years have learned his true worth and manhood, see the thousands of hard handed sons of toil who hope for better education advantages throughout the rural districts, see the multitude that have grown tired of Democrite fuss and bluster over things they never do. See the vasshride of honest citizens who believe the coffee of superintendent in the state should not be prostituted in the interest of ward politics. See all these marching in one solid phalanx on election day, all unner the banner of this fearless advocate of progress in education —Ozark Mountain News, Cabool, Feb. 21.

MISSOURI STATE FAIR.
The executive committee of the Missouri State Fair has fixed the dates for holding the second annual exhibition for August 19-23, 1802.
An interesting program has been arranged far each day, large pur es have been offered, a splendid mile track and modern conveniences provided, and these, with the advantages offered by life speed circuit, of which the state fair is a memper, will assure one of the best meetings ever held in the state.
The dates selected, making the Missouri state fair the opening exhibition of the Western State Fair circuit, and being thus relieved of any conflict with other important exhibitions assures a magnificent exhibition of live steek, per haps the most interesting and largest of the entire season, as the great herds of improved animals will meet here in competition for the first time. The new steel grand stand will be completed for the coming fair and will afford safe and comfortable accommodations for witnessing the speed contests and live stock displays.
The railroads have already agreed thrugh their passenger departments to furnish very cheap rates, which will be announced later. All agricultural, Horticultural and mineral products exhibited at the fair, if returned unsold, will be carried both ways by the railroads free of charge.
BILLUP'S 10-WEEK SCHOOL
Prof. H. L. Billups, one of the leading Negro educators of our city, and for years has been connected with Geo. R. Smith College, has now opened up and is running a 10 week business school for the benefit of those who wish to take short-hand, typewriting, book-keeping or stenography should attend this institution. Prof. Billups is a pride to our race, and is making a strong effort to help them in commercial lines at a normal expense. For information address H. L. FILLUPS, Geo. R. Smith College.
LEFTWICH WITHDRAWS.
Officer C. W. Leftwich, who has been announced as a candidate for constable, informs THE TIMES that he has withdrawn from th race in favor of James Connor, who is also a democratic candidate. Mr. Leftwich is now on the police force, and has a sure thing and will take no chances in the c entable race. Mr. Connors has the support of his party, and his nomination is now sure, which indicates that the batt'e for the will be a hot one.
The A M E Church has just closed a successful 3-day fair. The members did some excellent work in decorating their church, and each night was a successful one. We can say that this was the grandest affair ever given in this church. The uniforms worn by the ladies were handsome and the programme each night could not have been better.

MEMORIAL DAY.
It is hoped that the colored people of this city will take more int rest on Memorial day this year than they have heretofore. The Queen City Cornet band has volunteered to render their services during the afternoon, and it is hoped that the old solders, Sons of Veterans, young solders and Knights Templar will join together and pay their respects to the dead. The parade to the cemetery will form on East Main, and we trust that the mass of colored people will take this day off and join in the parade.
The call of the Negro Republican State League has been made to meet in this city June 24 for the purp se of reorganizing and uniting the colored voters of the state for the purpose of helping carry the state this year. The league will be permanently organized, as a state charter has already been granted them. Among the leading Negroes who will attend are: Prof. S. J. Harris of Kansas City, Prof. Herriford Prof. Chinn and others. Sedalia will spread herself and help entertain this important gathering to the highest.

It has been reported to us that the excursion that is to be run from this city to Kansas City on June 5 by the members of the Christain, that a separate coach will be set aside for the colored people, and this coach will be locked up so as to prevent them from being anywhere near the white people. Now will the dark sons and daughters of Ham, who loves liberty and free Americanism, and who has spent big sums of money to help fight down that hellish Jim-crow car law in our State Legislation for years and year, swallow such gross insult as this, and give them our hard money, and be locked up like dogs in some old dirty car, all for the sake of going to Kansas City for $1.50. Let us act wise once in life, and show our christain friends that if our money is not same the whites, our presents will remain in Sedalia.
If these good christians want the $150 from the colored people, as they have figured on, let them give them the same chance as they would 100 white persons, or else we don't go. Rebuke this insult June 5th, and don't go near their train, and show them that we don't endorse the jim crow car law, and will never spend a penny with anyone who does.
The Sedalia Browns met their first defeat Thursday at Boonville
The says that they out played the Boonville team, but was held up the impirer. Of course everyone of them has different story to tell about the game, but however the score stands 11 to 13 in favor of Boonville.
The spring Rallie at the A. M. E. Church, closed last Sunday night with a grand report from the two clubs, The Ladies club raised $42,00 and Art club backed them by donating $51,20) making a total for the Ladies Club $93.20 The Men's club brought up the rear, and had only $23 00 as a result of their work The grand total shows up the nice sum of $116.20 All hail to the Art Circle and the Lacies Club.
Since Benton county has a candidate for Congressman, by the name of Brunjes, and the people of this District has given Springfield the honors once, and has given Sa'ine county a fare chance. Now it come time for the republicacs to give Benton county a chace. She has one of the strongest men in the seventh district for the place, and we believe that if he is nominated, he will be abte to defeat Mr. Hamlin.
We are pleased to present to readers the name of Mr. John W. Baker, whose announcement for constable will be found among the announcements, as a Republican candidate for constable of Sedalia Township. Mr Baker has spent a large number of years in this Township, and has been elected for two terms as judge of County court, and during his terms he made a creditable and faithful judge. He is on of those old veterans who has years battled for the success of the republican party, and has made friends by the hundreds among both black and white, rich and poor. He is a common every day man, and is respected by all who know him. The colored voter will find that when they have supported him for this office that they will have a friend that is a true friend. Mr Baker is fully qualified and thoroughly capable to assume all duties of this office, and if nominated he will add more votes to the ticket than anyone else.
There is some changes that could be made in our county officials this fall teat would be a great benifit to the colored people, and there only will come at the county convention and at the polls on election day. We must begin to putting our forces together now and do all that we can against any candidate for judge of the county court that is or will be against any competent Negro for janitor of court house. If the present court is against any competent Negro for this umble and slavish possession, then the Negroes throughout the county has a just right to fight them down, whither he be a democrat or a republican. It is a fact that there never has been a Negro deputy or clerk in any department of the court house, and the looks affairs just now seems to tell us that the time has not come yet. But the time has long since come and gone when the eleven hundred or more Negro voters of Pettis county should have had a representative in this court house as janitor. So we urge upon you to be on your guard and less put some Negro from some part of us as janitor.
Tobe Hawkins returned to Kansas City Thursday.
W H Huston, who has been in Arrow Rock teaching school, has returned to the city to spend vacation. He is the colored Republican committeeman of First precinct.
rity, and we have always found him to be honest, straight and a perfect gentleman in every respect, and in every instance we know him to be a close friend to the colored people. For years he has helped to hold up the banner in the second ward, and has so conducted himself as to have gained the undivided confidence of every colored voter in this ward, and we may truthfully say the Township also. Give him the nomination and his majority for election will rank among the leading ones. He is fully qualified and if nominated will add much strength to the ticket.
When a candidate waits until the day of the convention before he lets it be known that he is an office seeker he must have been afraid the people would search up his record and find him wanting in manhood. No snap judgment goes this year. You must come out plainly so the people will have a chance to know and look up your record or no go. We want no cowards in this ban I to make our colors fly. We want valiant hearted men who are not afraid to try.
Elsewhere in this issue will be found the announcement of Mr. A. F. Tesmer, who is a candidate for Justice of the Peace Mr Tesmer is an old resident of our city, and has done much to help build it up. He has worked hard and earnestly for the success of the party of which he is a member. Mr. Tesmer is known by all Sedalians as an honest, straightforward man, and along this line has gained the confidence of the whole people. He has had considerable dealing with the colored people, and in every instance has shown to them his friendship. The members of the convention will make no mistake in selecting him because he is a strong candidate and a qualified man for the office which he now seeks.

C. C. KELLY, REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR PROSECUTING ATTORNEY.
Among the announcements in paper will be found the card of Mr. C. C. Kelly, who is a Republican candidate for the nomination of Prosecuting Attorney in the county convention. Mr. Kelley is one of the strongest Republicans in the county, having served our city for the past four years as an able and creditable city attorney, and this office is generally recognized as a stepping stone to that of Prosecuting Attorney. He has made a record which speaks well for him as a lawyer and gentleman. His record as City Attorney will stand for him in years to come, as he has made the best the city has ever had. He is acknowledged as a strong party leader, and has always been ready and willing to do what he could to further the advancement of the party. He is a strong friend of the colored people, and is known by them in every township in the county, and among them has a host of strong supporters. Mr Kelley no doubt is the strongest candidate in the field, regardless of party among all classes of colored voters. Should the convention give him the nomination for Prosecuting Attorney of Pett's county his election is assured from the fact that Republicans and Democrats know and believe that in him this important office will be properly cared for, and every duty performed with credit to every citizen of the county, regardless of their politics or color

Laxakola for Babies. - It is the best and most effective remedy for children. BEST because it is pure and safe being made entirely of harmless ingredients. BEST because it is non-irritating and never grips or causes pain or irritation. BEST because it is sure and never fails. BEST because "Children like it and ask for it." BEST because it tonic properties are so good and so strengthening that it keeps the little ones in fine, hearty condition.
It is a dangerous thing to give little babies cathartics that rack and rend their little bodies. DON'T DO IT - give them LAXAKOLA. For constipation, coated tongue, simple colds, restlessness, loss of sleep and fevers it is invaluable.
A few drops can be given with safety to very young babies, and it will often relieve colic by expelling the wind and gas that cause it. It will aid digestion, relieve restlessness, assist nature and induce sleep. Great relief is experienced when administered to young children suffering from diarrhea, accompanied with white or green evacuations, as LAXAKOLA neutralizes the acidity of the bowels and carries out the cause of the fermentation.
"My baby is a months old and is teething. He was sick and I tried a good many things, but nothing seemed to relieve him. I had a doctor, who said it was inflammation of the bowels, and that I would never pull him through perhaps if he were under the knees. When I saw he was seizing worms, I stopped pulling his medicine, as he could keep nothing out of his mouth. He was teased with colic very much, and I asked to scream when he a sound of it. I did not know what it was to close my eve day or night. I gave him a new dows of LAXAKOLA and it relieved him. It to him a few times, and it worked like a charm, and he no, pretty fair all night. He is a great deal better than him. He was LAXAKOLA, and I think if he were not given nothing else to their sick ladies."
Laxakola for Young Girls on the threshold of womanhood, has been found invaluable.
When they become pale and languid, face bloodless, eyes dull, head aching, feet and hands cold, appetite gone or abnormal, and their systems generally run down, they need building up, and their blood needs cleansing.
Give them LAXAKOLA; its gentle bowel action to cleanse, and its tonic properties to build up the system, will show immediate and most beneficial results.
It acts promptly, surely but gently on the bowels, and while stimulating the liver to increased activity, its tonic properties strengthen the nerves, renew vitality and restore color to the face and life and animation to the whole system. It is the only tonic laxative that strengthens and tones them up.
Laxakola for Mothers.—It is particularly valuable and useful to women, especially mothers, as it is a gentle and safe remedy to use during all conditions of health whenever their peculiar and delicate constitutions require a mild and efficient laxative and tonic; while to nursing mothers, worn out with the care of infants and whose systems therefore are particularly susceptible to disease, LAXAKOLA directly appeals.
It clears the complexion, brightens the eye, sharpens the appetite, removes muddy and blotched condition of the skin and cures sick headache to a certainty by removing the cause.
To women suffering from chronic constipation, head-aches, biliousness, dizziness, sallowness of the skin and dyspepsia, LAXAKOLA will invariably bring relief and a positive and permanent cure.
What Mrs. Edw. Puch, E. Palestine, O., Box 125, says about LAXAKOLA. "March 11, 1991. Received your free sample. it has done so much good, send me a 50c. bottle." March 28, "bottle came sale, me a lot of good, dragues here don't keep it, so enclosed is 50c. please send me quickly another bottle. The last bottle did me so much good I want another at once." April 16th, "Enclosed is 50c. for one more bottle LAXAKOLA. It has done me much good."
Laxakola for Old Folks.—In the Autumn and Winter of Life, when the various organs through long years of action have become more or less sluggish, it becomes necessary to stimulate them by some remedy best adapted to that purpose. So long as the stomach and bowels are doing their work properly and the liver and kidneys are active and strong, your food is assimilated properly, your blood is kept pure and rich, and your nerves are strong. The feeling of nervousness, general weakness and debility means that the whole system is run down and needs a general toning up.
That LAXAKOLA DOES IT, has been proved beyond all question. Its gentle warming, soothing action on the bowels, liver and kidneys, stimulates them to increased activity, cleanses the blood, quickens the circulation, and puts the whole system in a condition of health and enables it to ward off disease, while its tonic properties tone up the system and keep it healthy.
Laxakola Does It.
