The Republicans of, Pettis county nominated a ticket Thursday and did a good job of it. Wise counsel's prevailed and men were put on the ticket who will insure its success at the polls.
There was no strife and there will be no recriminations. The men who were defeated for nominations went into the convention knowing they had no sure thing of successs, and prepared to abide the decision of the majority.
The preliminaries of the convention were disposed of in the forenoon. E. E. Coddling, chairman of the county committee, called the convention to order and announced the selection of W M Johns as temporary chairman and H T. Williams temporary secretary.
On motion Chairman Johns appointed the following gentlemen to servo on the necessary committees, and the convention took a recess until afternoon.

Mr BRUJE WITHDRAWS.
The Seventh district republican congressional convention was called to order in the circuit court room at the court house by P H Sangree, chairman of the congressional committee shortly before 11 c'clock Thursday morning. We especially commend the policy of reciprocity with Caba which he has recommended to congress as eminently wise and just us calculated to promote and conserve the close commercial relations which ought to obtain between the two republics.
With supreme confidence in his wisdom and patriotism and his devotion to the best interests of the people, we pledge him our support as the republic can candidate for president in 1904.

Dr. and Mrs. Walden will reside on West Morgan street. The Times, along with their many friends, congratulate them, and hope that their future life will be a pleasart and happy one.

How do you like our ticket this
year? What complaint have you
now.
Yes, it hard to swallow boys
but less help to elect the ticket.
Prosecuting Attorney Cashman was forced down and out of the race for his second term; well what do you think of that for harmony.
The Republican ticket is a good one, with one are two exceptions, and the colored voters, are majority of them are not so well pleased until some excuses are made
The TIMES will make a special political issue on next Saturday in our new dress of type. We want to send or give every colored voters a copy of the paper in Pettis county.
After Twenty years as Public Administrator Mr Jno, R Clopton, has excepted the nomination for justice of the Peace on the democratic ticket. Well country cant do him any good this time he must come by the city.
Dr Harris was nominated on first ballot over two white men two years ago, and Dr Nassa, was one of them, but Dr Harris being a Negro he was beaten by over a thousand votes. Now Dr Nassa, was nominated by acclamation this year and the question how big his majority will be a mong the colored voters.
Hon. G. P Peale, the nominee of the Seventh district republican convention, is an orator of great force. He is magnetic, and carries his audience with him at every point. He comes from Greene county the home of the democratic nominee, and will give that gentleman another defeat to record at the close of the campaign, he is hustler and will make a hot fight.
Messrs Kerens and Tracy, two of the distinguished visitors in Sedalia Thursday, express the opinion that with such perfect understanding and oneness of purpose as exists in the republican ranks here there can be no possibility of defeat. But the fact must not be lost sight off that the emocrats of the county has an exeptionally good ticket in the field, and that present differences
---
may be smoothed over. We are not so sure of success that we can afford to let other fellows do all of the campaigning.
Now that the two county tickets are nominated and are in the field for the consideration of the Pettis county voters, and the flight is now on in full blaze. The colored voters will be solicited on every hand to vote for Mr so and so, and will be offered sums of money for their suffrag. We urge upon our people to be sure and begin right and when they do above all stay tight, and remember that the men you elect this fall, will be there for the next two or four years, and if he is not a friend to the colored man, let him be who he may, he should not receive the Negroes support and be put into a big fat office. It he has proven to the masses of the Negroes voters that he is their friend like Mr Kelley, Bothwell, Franklin and James Ringen has did, then you must not suffer them to be downed. The time is come when young and old Negroes must putting any and everything in office by their votes for a few dollars are a false smile and the slavery plea, we want jobs, we want men who believes that it is no disgrace to vote for a Negro when he has been nominated on a republican ticket by republican convention, we want men in our county court and in other county offices who believes that there are some Negro in Pettis county who is capable of washing spittoons and sweeping rooms in our court house, we want deputies in as many places as possible. How many of the voting young men, yes middle and aged colored voters will join in and help make a fight for public jobs for some deserving young man. Preachers and school teachers now is your time to show the people that you are for building up the coming young Negro, if you must edge in politics, tell your people to stop voting for beer, cogs and a few pennies and go to voting for race interest and chance to earn an honest dollar.
The young men who have consented to go into the Knights of Pythias club, are requested to meet next week.
Samual Ramsey has a letter from Kansas City, asking him to come back to his old job, but Sam dont seem to want to go just now he prefers staying a home until the election because has an ax to grind

For excellent effect upon the system when used by invalids, the weakly built persons and in general family use. Northern New Jersey climate and soil abounding in iron is just adapted for this grape for Port wine. It is the same kind of soil as in Portugal. Speer's winery and the vines are the only Port grape vineyards in the United States; only vines that cultivate the real Port wine grape of Portugal; while other wines or mixtures called port are made without a single Oporto grape in them. Mr. Speer is the first and only one who imported the vines and coilimated the real Port wine grape vines of Portugal. He spent thousands of dollars as a hobby to see what he could do toward coilinating these Portugal vines here. It took eight years for them to become coilimated before Mr. Speer got a single grape; during these years all died except about eight hundred vines, when those began to grow vigorous and bear fruit; from these, layers were made for new vines. The vineyards now cover fifty six acres. It has proven successful. The grapes are allowed to hang on the vines until they begin to raisin, when they have parted with some of the water and are rich in sugar; and the wine made from. From Infancy To Age
Mother and Child
Laxakola for Babies.--It is the best and most effective remedy for children because it is pure and safe being made entirely of harmful ingredients. BEST because it is non-irritating and never grips or causes pain or irritation. BEST because it is sure and never fails. BEST because "Children like it and ask for it." BEST because tonic properties are so good and so strengthening that it keeps the little ones in their hearty condition.
It is a dangerous thing to give little babies violent cathartics that rack and rend little bodies. DON'T DO IT--give them LAXAKOLA. For constipation, coated tongue simple colds, restlessness, loss of sleep and fevers it is invaluable.
A few drops can be given with safety to very young babies, and it will often relieve colic by expelling the wind and gas that cause it. It will aid digestion, relieve restlessness, assist nature and induce sleep. Great relief is experienced when administered to young children suffering from diarrhea, accompanied with white or green evacuations as LAXAKOLA neutralizes the acidity of the bowels and carries out the cause of the fermentation.
"My baby is 4 months old and is teething. He was sick and I tried a good many thins, but nothing seemed to relieve him. I had a doctor, who said it was inflammation of the bowels, and that I would never pull him through if he were in his care. When I saw he was getting worse, I dropped him into medicine, and I did not know what it was to close my eyes day or night. I gave him a few drops of LAXAKOLA and it released it to him a low times, and it worked like a charm, and he no longer prefers fair all night. He is a great girl, looking baby-like, and he gave him LAXAKOLA, and I think if she were still alive, they would give baby also to their sick babies.
Laxakola for Young Girls on the threshold of womanhood, has been found invaluable.
When they become pale and languid, face bloodless, eyes dull, head aching, feet and hands cold, appetite gone or abnormal, and their systems generally run down, they need building up, and their blood needs cleansing.
Give them LAXAKOLA; its gentle bowel action to cleanse, and its tonic properties to build up the system, will show immediate and most beneficial results.
It acts promptly, surely but gently on the bowels, and while stimulating the liver to increased activity, its tonic properties strengthen the nerves renew vitality and restore color to the face and life and animation to the whole system. It is the only tonic laxative that strengthens and tones them up.
Laxakola for Mothers.—It is particularly valuable and useful to women, especially mothers, as it is a gentle and safe remedy to use during all conditions of health whenever their peculiar and delicate constitution require a mild and efficient laxative and tonic; while to nursing mothers worn out with the care of infants and whose systems therefore are particularly susceptible to disease, LAXAKOLA directly appeals.
It clears the complexion, brightens the eye, sharpens the appetite, moves muddy and blotched condition of the skin and cures sick headache as a certainty by removing the cause.
To women suffering from chronic constipation, head-aches, billioness dizziness, sallowness of the skin and dyspepsia, LAXAKOLA will invariably bring relief and a positive and permanent cure.
What Mrs. Edw. Push, E. Palestine, O, Bov. 125, says about LAXAKOLA. "March 11, 1901. Received part of sample, it has done so much good, send me a 40c. bottle." March 28. "Bottle came sale, did not a lot of water here don't keep it, so enclosed is 50c. please send me quickly another bottle. The last bottle did me so much good want another at once." April 5th. "Enclosed is 50c. for one more bottle LAXAKOLA. It has done me much good."
Laxakola for Old Folks.-In the Autumn and Winter of Life when the various organs through long years of action have become more or less sluggish, it becomes necessary to stimulate them by some remedy adapted to that purpose. So long as the stomach and bowels are doing their work properly and the liver and kidneys are active and strong, your food is assimilated properly, your blood is kept pure and rich, and your nerves are strong. The feeling of nervousness, general weakness and debility means that the whole system is run down and needs a general toning up.
That LAXAKOLA DOES IT, has been proved beyond all question. In gentle warming, soothing action on the bowels, liver and kidneys, stimulate them to increased activity, cleanses the blood, quickens the circulation, and puts the whole system in a condition of health and enables it to ward off disease, while its tonic properties tone up the system and keep it healthy.
