After Booker T Washington
In the Boston Guardian of Sept. the 25th is an extensize explana-tion of the policy of Booker T. Washington. The article was reproduced from the Boston Transcript. The writer, who is a white man, asserts thatMr Washington's policy is damaging to the Negro race. His argument in jusiification of his belief is truly the most able and logical criticism that we have ever read on the subject. The article opened our eyes to the true condition of affairs as nothing else has done. After comparing Fredrick Douglas with Booker T. Washington, their achievements and the conditions under which each flourished the writer boldly asserts that Mr.Washington's methods are injurious to the Negro race. His raguentsnt is so forceful that we are inclined to accept or share his opinion. He pays a glowing tribute to those two great Negroes and says Douglas escaped from slavery with his soul abhored, but for Lin

All sensible men endorse industrial education for all races but by subordinating higher education Mr Washington makes industrial education the quinterence of Negro greatness. Further Mr Washington sinks into sphinx like silence when the demands of the situation require emphatic utterance. The white race saddles its feelings upon him and he opens not his mouth. He thereby does his race a great injury by allowing the white man to believe he accept the low estimate of the Negros infirmaties. Mr Washington should not hold up for painful contemplations to the outside world the repugnant, grotesque and lu

His range of vision should not be limited to the ugly condition of his race. The chief incentive to any race that has gained import ance in the world of affairs is to have a leader who is exponent of their highest aspirations and feelings. The article takes up three columns and it undoubtedly places Mr Washington in a bad light be fore the people. As a matter of fact a recitation of our faults and short comings in not calculated to inspire us to greater achievements While endorsements of the article does not effect our approval of industrial education; yet we are ob liged to admit that traveling over the country daily proclaiming to the world our faults, our defects and our lowly condition to be es sentiol to industrial education no

Why do some stranges comes in a town, and the first thing they thinks of is to control are to destroy.
Dont forget the big Rally at the M, E, Church tomorrow
If our leaders of our city are so opposed to a Central Missouri League, they ought not to be opposed to a league or club in the city of Sedalia.
If you want to see Old Missouri in the Republican columns once, come and less organize the Negro 30,000 votes will make a big differ ence next year.
It's sometimes, good to change your opinion, isn't it brother.
The Negro voters has an important part to play in the next campaign, beginning with our local city affairs and concuding with state and national election. The question now is, what are Sedalia Negroes and the Negro voters of Central, Missouri doing to prepare themselves for the fight, so as to be able to make themselves felt and to benefit themselves as a race.
Other cities like St Louis, Kansas City and St Joseph has Negro clubs and leagues organized, and are working for success of the republican party and the Negro's inest in their city. Why can't old Sedalia with her hundreds of Negroes fall in and organize. Yes, why cant the thousands of Negro voters of Central Missouri organize their forces togethee, and do their duty for the success of Roosvelt. Bothwell and their race.
We cannot hope to do much good for our race in politics ff we wait until the last day in March to do our work, nor can we do much to help our friends, we must be organized and in perfect harmony in order to be felt or to do good
Dont fail to see us, when in need of the above. We have the best in town, any price you want to pay We are headquarters for fitting.

NEGRO DISFRANCHISEMENT.
"It in choosing a man to represent you in congress you will vote only for the candidate who will pledge himself to introduce and support a measure that will reduce the representation of the Southern states in proportion as the vote has been reduced, the question of constitutional disfranchisement will soon be solved." Thus spoke Attorney S. Joe Brown, Thursday evening, September 29th, before the Good Intent club, which had assembled themselves together in the Second Bap tist church of Ottumwa, for the purpose of hearing the brilliant silver tongued orator, able and progressive lawyer riddle without mercy the unconstitutional constitutional Southern amendments. The advice of this well known young barrister should be copied and published by every loyal American newspaper in this country. It should be read from every American pulpit which stands for truth, honor and gratitude.
And then, the negro voters of the north, west and east, where we have a chance of having our ballots counted as cast, should accept this man's advice, combine ourselves together and oppose every man and every political party that oppose our interests. Several years since the Republican party gave us the American suffrage and said "We will amend the constitution so that you shall have the same political rights to make and execute laws as any other people." We thanked them

to the charge of having thousands of worthless men and women in our ranks, to the charge of being in need of industrial educational training, to the charge of having lazy and vicious members in our race, we must plead guilty but these conditions are the common heritage of mankind and, after all Negro in only human and a lazy and vicious Negro is no worse than a lazy and vicious white man. In his efforts to build up Tuskegee and industrial education w think Mr Washington can find a more inspiring argument than the faults and short comings of our race.—Cal. Endependenten

Laxakola for Babies.—It is the best and most effective remedy for children BEST because it is pure and safe being made entirely of harmless ingredients. BEST because it is non irritating and never grips or causes pain or irritation. BEST because it is sure and never fails. BEST because "Children like it and ask for it." BEST because its tonic properties are so good and so strengthening that it keeps the little ones in their heart condition.
It is a dangerous thing to give little babies violent cathartics that rack and remind little bodies. DON'T DO IT—give them LAXAKOLA. For constipation, coated tongue, simple cold, restlessness, loss of sleep and fevers it is invaluable.
A few drops can be given with safety to very young babies, and it will often relieve colds by expelling the wind and gas that cause it. It will aid digestion, relieve restlessness, assist nature and induce sleep. Great relief is experienced when administered to young children suffering from diarrhea, accompanied with white or green excitations, as LAXAKOLA neutralizes the acidity of the bowels and carries out the cause of the fermentation.
My baby is 3 months old and is teething. He was sick and I tried a good many things, but nothing seemed to relieve him. I had a doctor, who said it was infamorous and that I would never pull him through. He wished the wizard would help him. I was a teenager, giving him a Japcon glove and keeping him on his knees. He was troubled with colic very much, and used to accrime when he had a touch of it. I don't know what it was to close my eye day or night. I gave him a few drops of LAXAKOLA and I relieved him. I gave it to him a teething, and it worked like a cushion, and he my rests pretty far all night. He is a great deal better looking baby since I gave him LAXAKOLA and it makes him waking easier to their sick babies.
MRS. MARY DALEY, 297 First Street, South Boston, Mass.
Laxakola for Young Girls on the threshold of womanhood, has been found invaluable.
When they become pale and languid, face bloodless, eyes dull, head aching, feet and hands cold, appetite gone or abnormal, and their systems generally run down, they need building up, and their blood needs cleansing.
Give them LAXAKOLA; its gentle bowel action to cleanse, and its tonic properties to build up the system, will show immediate and most beneficial results.
It acts promptly, surely but gently on the bowels, and while stimulating the liver to increased activity, its tonic properties strengthen the nerves, renew vitality and restore color to the face and life and animation to the whole system. It is the only tonic laxative that strengthens and tones them up.
Laxakola for Mothers.—It is particularly valuable and useful to women, especially mothers, as it is a gentle and safe remedy to use during all conditions of health whenever their peculiar and delicate constitutions require a mild and efficient laxative and tonic; while to nursing mothers, worn out with the care of infants and whose systems therefore are particularly susceptible to disease, LAXAKOLA directly appeals.
It clears the complexion, brightens the eye, sharpens the appetite, removes muddy and blotched condition of the skin and cures sick headache to a certainty by removing the cause.
To women suffering from chronic constipation, head-aches, biliousness, dizziness, sallowness of the skin and dyspepsia, LAXAKOLA will invariably bring relief and a positive and permanent cure.
What Mrs. Euk, Puch, K. Pustineine, G. Bov, 25, says about LAXAKOLA, "March 11, 1961. Received your sample, it has done so much good, send me a bottle, bottle." March 28, "Bottle came sale, did a lot of good, good here don't keep it, so enclosed is one, please send me quickly another bottle. The last bottle did me so much good want another at once." April 11, "Enclosed is one, for one more bottle LAXAKOLA. It has done me much good."
Laxakola for Old Folks. In the Autumn and Winter of Life, when the various organs through long years of action have become more or less sluggish, it becomes necessary to stimulate them by some remedy best adapted to that purpose. So long as the stomach and bowels are doing their work properly and the liver and kidneys are active and strong, your food is assimilated properly, your blood is kept pure and rich, and your nerves are strong. The feeling of nervousness, general weakness and debility means that the whole system is run down and needs a general toning up.
That LAXAKOLA DOES IT, has been proved beyond all question. Its gentle warming, soothing action on the bowels, liver and kidneys, stimulates them to increased activity, cleanses the blood, quickens the circulation, and puts the whole system in a condition of health and enables it to ward off disease, while its tonic properties tone up the system and keep it healthy.
