PRESIDENT AND MRS. LOWE OF GEORGE R. SMITH COLLEGE SPREAD AN FLAORATE FEAST FOR THE ACADEMIC AND COLLEGE SENIORS.
One of the most elaborate and highly cultured social functions of the season was that of the banquet spread by President and Mrs Lowe, of the George R. Smith College, for the Academic and College Seniors. The banquet was spread Wednesday evening in the President's private suite of rooms in the college building. All members of the classes, except W. A. Clark of the Academy, who was too ill to attend, were present. His part upon the program, however, was assigned to Vernon R. Young. The banqueting tables, five in number, were beautifully decorated by Class Colors, cut flowers and hand painted souvenir cards. Specially trained waiters did the

things to rights. Ere night our good pastor and family were sungly installed in their new home. Brother Hawkins, after dispensing of a good supper retired early. But about 9:30, he was awakened by strange voices mingled in song of the Saviour. When sleep had been dispelled, he found a large delegation outside with arms and baskets filled with useful things for the pastor and his family. After enjoying themselves for a sea son all departed for their homes feeling good over the affair.

L. A. Pemberton and John McKelvey, State Organizers, for the National Benevolent Society are in the city in the interest of that society, which gives sick, accident and life insurance to parties between the ages of 18 and 48 regardless of color.
Having been a member of the society for several years, I know it to be a strong organization, always prompt in the adjustment of all claims against it. I speak from experience, since I have had occasion to draw some from them myself. Therefore I cheerfully recommend them to my friends, who may wish good and reliable protection. Respectfully Yours.
