THE BIBLE IN USE
A real Bible sermon is always a good sermon.
Keep close to the Bible and you will keep close to the people. The psalmist says: They that love Thee will be glad when they see me, because I have hoped in Thy Word. When the farmer goes out into his cattle yard with a big basket of corn, the animals will come a running and keep coming as long as he has the food for them. The Bible is the great moral and spiritual food basket, and as long as we feed the people out of it, they will come and keep coming. This is the secret of getting and holding an audience. Just as good food, well prepared and well served, will bring the people to the church supper, so the good food of the Word, well prepared and well served will bring them to the church services.
between pastor and people, and as long as we keep the point of contact well in use we will be able to reach them. In electrics we have the electric dynamo and the electric current and the wires and all the rest. The Bible is all of this in spiritual things. If we keep it working, we will reach the people.
CRISPUS ATTUCKS HOME.
To Put on a Big Drive for One Thousand Dollars.
Under the reconstruction of the Board of Trustees of Crispus Attucks Home, its officers feel that they are entitled to the hearty co-operation and support of the people of the Twin Cities in seeing that the home is put in proper condition for the care of its inmates, our old folks and orphan children. And we the trustees assure the public that we will not lack in doing our part to see that everything is kept as it should. We have investigated the method in which the business of the home has been done and find, without criticism, that it is necessary to make some changes in order that we may have a correct record of everything that is done.
Crispus Attucks Home needs $1,000,
and the board is planning to raise
this sum in 90 days, with the
support and help of the generous public.

ALDERMAN L. B. ANDERSON
Of Chicago Entertained by Atty W. T. Francis.
Pursuant to invitations extended by Atty. W. Francis, about 50 gentlemen assembled at his home, 606 St. Anthony Ave., Thursday evening, to meet Mr. Louis B. Anderson, exmember of the Illinois legislature and at present an alderman of the city of Chicago. Mr. Anderson is a member of the Local Transportation Committee composed of 19 Aldermen and other Chicago officials who, since March 4th, have been touring the cities west of Chicago investigating street car systems. The party arrived in St. Paul Thursday afternoon and were the guests of Mayor Hodgson of St. Paul and Mayor Meyers of Minneapolis at the Alverdes Restaurant; at noon yesterday they were the guests of the St. Paul Association. At Mr. Francis' home Mr. Anderson addressed the gathering, talking briefly upon his experience upon the visit of the mayor, and later did he talk of conditions with respect to our race group politically in Chicago, and suggested solutions of political difficulties that affect our people which have been used in Chicago and if used in St. Paul and other places will be equally as helpful there. Alderman Anderson has a pleasing personality and his experience as Assistant County Attorney of Cook County, member of the Legislature of Illinois and of the City Council of Chicago has demonstrated his ability and thoroughly qualifies him for the next step to be attained by our race in Chicago, Congressman from Illinois.
Mr. Virgil Williams, a prominent business man of Chicago who is president of a life insurance company, one of the directors of a moving picture corporation and also engaged in the amusement business in Chicago, accompanied the aldermen on their tour of inspection and was also the guest of Mr. Francis with Mr. Anderson. Alderman Anderson and Mr. Williams were quartered with the other members of the aldermanic party at the St. Paul Hotel. The party left for Chicago last night.
