INTER-STATE Journal Kans..and Missouri. Rv E L. JELTZ. A man who doesn't earn his money at hard labor when it is assignad him fire him out. That's the idea. We are here to stay just the same an officer who is too officious is no more than any other man who has made a mistake be be oief or the "Lord's high fiddlesticks." We want to say however we were very kindly treated by the captain of the police force when we informed him of our loss and also Mr "Red" McDonad one of the best detectives in the west. We are proud of our enemies and we want them to understand we intend to punish them. Turn out some of the rascals will be a great satisfaction to a whole lot of people who will take the lead to keep them out Of course when a colored Journal takes issue with some of the hatred of the public he is "cussed" and held to ridicule but we don't care for that so long as we are right if so we intend to go go ahead ere the heavens tail We have never interfered with other peoples business and don't expect to, but peoples personal troubles should have nothing to do with politics if one desires to enter therein, When Nick Chiles goes to Green wood Miss: protected by the sheriff, who afford him protection, he might expect a funeral and he won't near it The Pelice are Prophets We Suppose. We went to Leavenworth this week on legitimate business. We stopped just where we have always stopped for several years. We was relieved of several dollars their denominations being silver. We can honestly prove by Nick Chiles that we lost the money for we met him at late hour and exchanged courtesies. The police knew we told the truth, but on account of the system enacted by the present administration no investigation was pur never will be made. It was not the loss of a few dollars but the principle thereof, and no suspect or guilty party should gunn-injured when a man pays for what he gets and also makes it a rule to pay his way. Our policy is: 'a thief is a dangerous reptile be he white or black, and people here will take our word that we was robbed in Leavenworth. LEAVENWORTH (CITY),POLI UGS. Mr. Wm. Bucher the present clerk of the city court wants another term. Mr. Bucher has hd in the second ward all of his life and is immensely popular with all classes and it he is reelected he will be very thankful to his many white and colored friends in the future as in the past He is perfectly acquainted with his line of work of the city court and stands a good show of succeeding himself. Henry Yeakes the well known veteran citizen of this city is out for marshall of the city court. Mr. Yerkes is in every way a capable man for the office a large number among all classes will be found at the polls on election day working for his election Among the most prominent as Judge of city court is Hon H Miles. Moore who stands as a candidate for re-election to that office. Judge Moore is highly spoken of to succeed him self. Mr. S. C. Robert McFarland the Republican for clerk of the city court made in the city many years he fell in the city and is making a fight for the The State Ledger. The temper of the republicans in this city is warming up to fever heat because there are a number of friendly contests now on. The most prominent in the contest for office are the Hon. Sheffield Ingalls, for probate Judge to succeed Judge Hooper and the next in the city is Mr. Chas. Klostermier a prominent business man who stands a good show to be nominated for sheriff. The Ledger feels friendly to these gentlemen and believe if they are successful in Monday's convention they will a d T strength to the republican ticket. In fact both of them have a host of friends who will exercise their rights and dictate the nominations for these two gent emen. The people will do well to give them a unanimous victory Monday next: State Notes Our readers of Altavista, White City and nearby burgs should be a little patient: a mistake was made in our last publication hence the papers did not reach them all. The indiana conference of the African Methodist church has passed a strong set of resolution in reference to the race problem. They condemn yellow journalism for its attempt to encourage race hatred and to magnify the defects of the negro even to the extent of falsehood to incite riote and bloodshed. They declare mob violence, riot and lynchings to be the work of unreasonable fanatics, savages and anarchists and murders. The attit de of Presidedit Roosevelt and Gover Durbin of Indiana in their stand against this evil is high commended. A newly married Ozark county (Mo.) couple, who recieved among other things, a pretty little piece of crockery as a present, use it as a sugar powl two weeks before they found out it was a cus dor. Whether it blows or whether it snows, the season comes and the season goes, the crops get sick and the farmers blues the store keepers kick and the lawvere the preabbers preacn and the simers sim, and cares beset the souls of men. But through it all the printer prints, he saves and saves and stints and stints; the winds may rave and the floods may roll and drouths break through from pole to pole; but the printer man he prints and prints, saves and saves and stints and stints-happy happy printer man: he does the very best he can-sticking type or twisting press, he trusts to luck and does his best. Most persons know that the er-centric evangelist, Sam Jones, was a hard cuss before he was converted, which did not occur until after he was married. He was once lecturing the "boys" with his characteristic freedom and vigor as follows: "Oh; I've bden all all along there; boys, I know all about it, and I used to go to balls and danees, too boys, but when I wanted to get married when I wanted to seattle down with a good wife I quit drinking and gamblg and I didn't go to a ball room to find my wife but I went to a prayer meeting and got one. He told this in Texas and when he returned to his boarding house the land lady who had heard his remarks said: "I don't blame you Brother Jones but poor Sister Jane who did she go to get her husband?
