CAPT. BRADDEN, THE FIGHTING CHAPLAIN OF THE "OLD 8TH," TAKES GEN. BULLARD TO TASK
By CAPT, WM. S. BRADDEN
In架 3700th U. S. Infantry
I have read with increasing interest the articles written by General Bullard, who running concurrently with his observations, activities and prejudices during the World war. When first I began the articles it was because, as the magnet attracts steel so one soldier and his views differ under the Stars and Stripes for 30 years, from a private to my present rating, having taken part in three wars, it was but natural that I should be interested in the memories of General Bullard. Hence, I have read his articles day after day with increasing pleasure, for they received a world of memories that before have laid burdens since I heard a French soldier "La guerre blink"—the war is over. But after having read the general's articles I have lived again my experiences in France. Once more I have seen the faces again we have placed over broken roads, through mark and
mire, again we have gone day after day without a bite to eat.
Once more we watched the fairs and star shots by night that told us of our sullen toe, half devil and half child. Again we lay ourselves down in the sun with no cover save a sheet of rain, to rest our poor, tired body, once more we hear the whirlbane of the missiles of death and the pitiful moorings of death, for the fallen countrides as the fall amidst the disables and popples of the fair and square Republic of France. But undeterred, undamaged we carried on, through wallets, "The Vandals" and "The Coming" and "We Are Not Going Lock-Till It Is Over Over There." Once more they stood at Soissons, we rested at Treyp, we are again at Chaton Thierry, we are moving, never toward our goal, "Victory," through hardship and suffering, but rarely complaining, but rather defending.

JURY HEARS A MODERN 'DANIEL' AT BAR
Daniel ceeping from the lions' den had nothing on the Rev. Henry Owens, pastor of the Star Baptist church, Archer Ave., and 15th St., wriggling out of a Bridwell sentence.
Facing charges of disorderly conduct, of arguim, and of pandering, the Rev. Mr. Owens demanded a jury trial, and then waved away all offers of legal assistance. He elected to the jury, and text from the "fall of Adam," he preached his way to freedom. Facing a jury "loaded with evidence against him, he admitted the charges, drove the jumperman with a knife, without a courtroom first stone" No rocks flew. The dicta walked out of the courtroom a free man.
Woman Calls Police
Umma Bina, 23, of 217 S. Dearborn St. a former sweetheart of Rev. Owens, appeared against him, with the parishioners, the parishioner testified that Miss Bigley can run to him at 25th and State St. 5, Saturday night, but faces streaming with blood. She said Rev. Owens was with her to Owens' Dearborn St. rooms, where the Baptist minister was found in a drunken stupor. He was too drunk, the polkadot woman enveloped in through the window. The woman testified that Rev. Owens had brought her to his rooms a year ago, that she had been living in the house, that he had brought other men there for limoral purposes. In return, she complained, Rev. Owens had paid her only in good, and inadequate
Pleads Own Case
Then Rev. Owens began his medramatic defense. For more than an hour he held the center of the stage, and in his best industrial fashion, he danced. He worked as a career, souls had hung in the balance before as the Rev. Owens had reached, but Monday it was his own obedience. "Adam himself tell," he played, "that I am the one who promised him to jump back in the narrow path" and "beat off the little dogs that come dressed in pretty clothes and naughty smiles." The jury said "not guilty." He thanked so much, than thanked you so much, "beamed the divine." "May the dove of peace go with you, even as I shall return to my dock, and as I preach the gospel may thee." Cut it into interrupted justice. "We were so proud of you for one day. And if you ever come back in this court——"
"Hang me, hang me!" Rev. Owens readily replied.

The case is only an instance of the extreme cruelty exercised by fall guards in these parts, the prisoner being literally hooded and tortured to death by the roadmen, who chained that he was "working too slow." Stops Ovarian Trouble Quick
"I suffered from ovarian trouble and leucorrhea for several years," says Mrs. Charity M. Peoples, the well-known hairdresser at 612 N. 15th St., Birmingham, Ala. "My sides and back hurt me all the time. I couldn't sleep at night, and during my ____. I would suffer so much I couldn't work for four or five days. The more medicines and treatments I tried, the worse I got until I started on G. F. P. This is the most wonderful medicine in the world. Now I am using it, all my old trouble is gone, and I never have an ache or pain of any kind at any time."
On every side nowadays, you see or hear of some woman or girl who suffered from headaches, backaches, pains in the sides and limbs, irregularity, cramping, nausea, dizziness, displacement troubles, who tried first one thing and then another which promised relief, only to be disappointed time and time again. Then, like Mrs. Peoples, they start on G. F. P. and are almost miraculously being restored to health and strength.
The amazing success St. Joseph's G. F. P. is now enjoying over other medicines and treatments for the relief of those troubles peculiar to women is due to its well known power and reliability in overcoming and stamping out Caturrh of the Female Organs, which we now know is the cause of at least 90 per cent of woman's suffering from so-called "female troubles."

Repeated instances of extreme cruelty convinced her, she testified, that added to William Murray's life in a postoffice clerk, was too hot. Her petition for divorce alleles cruel and abusive treatment, dating, she says, from 1821. Attor-
In a counter-suit, Murray charges his wife with undue familiarity with Earl Roberts, leader of her orchestra, and tells him, testified that he had followed her husband and Mrs. Murray many nights, and had caught them in compromising situations. She assured him that his husband's affections, so that he had deserted her for the wife of the postal clerk. Mr. Murray also charged that his wife was cruel to him, and that the tempered temper made his life miserable. Mrs. Murray produced Roberts to testify that his wife was unreasonably jealous, and that her trailing him around has only made both of them more irritable, having escorted Mrs. Murray to her home after late orchestra engagements. Murray was ordered to pay his wife a fine, and to keep her from having to play with the orchestra.

I then had conference with the captain of Company 1, and while holding this gun, I moved 20 feet away, wounding Captain Green, from which wound he died. During this operation he killed by shell and wounded. I did not mention all of my officers, numbering 60. **Bullard Ridiculous**
There are companies and missionaries in General Bullard's article that they border on the railways, and that they are part of our member line is in direct contrast to that of then, John D. Perling, compulsory military forces, who said the following:
"They command to blight the spirit shown among the Colored combat troops, who exhibit the capacity for quick training and exigency for the late President Theodore Russell said in his last public appearance to go on the other side. I should have asked permission to raise a soldier to offer Col. Charles Young the leadership of one resentment, telling him I expected him to choose
These two Americans, far above Dallard in reputation on the battlefield and as judges of the character of the war, have believed and different, so do we.

"Squands and gun," Thimp, thump, on and down the road to the valley of death, thus marches to defend our flag, and yet in the columns of a proclaimed paper a self-righteous human degrades Court-martial is even undue justice to such principle. The war is over, Ross emphasizes the fact that I am ready at any time to testify that the advance and that the command did hold without showing the faintest symptoms of ranc or retreat under gun fire. Ross he speaks. If so, when did the Nesro waste time, when was it WHEN? Not once. He also states: "Many men died in Bolshev Freauf or died in the war, and could they have been promptly and properly attended. There can be no excuse, but no excuse, for the woeful conduct of the facts concerning these men, being that General Bullard received his information about Colored soldiers from the 325 division, chiefly Colonel Green, who was innately opposed to Colored soldiers and was a supporter of the operation. There can be no excuse for General Bullard's lack of information if he had not been too willing to help. He knew that he would be intently prejudged.

Prejudiced Officers
is generally known among the Colored soldiers that many of the officers commission above the pride of captain in the 252 division excepting Major Battlesman; it is difficult if not almost impossible, for their Colored soldiers to make a showing solely because they wanted things to appear as badly for them as possible. The statement that only one German was captured by the 252 division in civilizations for comment. In fact and in truth there were scores of Germans captured, killed, or killed in time of the five captains tried for cowardice hold a congressional model of honor for bravery. Robert Law Loe was another officer who never felt, but admits that the scurrilous articles on the Colored soldiers are not facts of his own personal experience but matures and belief. I was the judge advocate for the 252 division and personally handled all offenses W. O. In the Chicago Tribune of June 9 there appears an article taken from the personal memories of General Robert Lee Ballard, Section XIXIV, which says that the general met the test as a representative of the lightning element of this United States. Since when he was commissioned as an uncommissioned in the World War were the actual experiences of war on the front, General Ballard says: "The poor 226 Negroes wasted time and dawdled where they did attack and in them were attacked, never landed at all." Again he mentions, "Alonger my memories of the Negro division are a miltiorum." Major Warner A. Ross in his book, My Negro War, describes the Negro fighting as "superior to any army, whether white or black or of some other race, or more than dhl the Second battalion of the 553th infantry, 13rd brigade, 25D

Gen. Bullard's Vicious Indictment of the 92d Division in Battle Time
BY GEN. ROBERT LEE BULLARD

Second army of the United
States (Ceremonies, 1923, Dumblay, Page & Co.
Inspired by New York Times).
Nepoica in U. S. Armies
Officers Fail in Battle
All this constructive equality I regarded as an injustice; it is not real matter and found that in the battle of the Mouse-Argonne a part of the 320 had twice run away from in front of the enemy, causing the French, for the safety of the enemy, to request the relief of the Nazis, from the fighting line. Some of Nazi officers were in charge in this battle, the clearest ones and supposed leaders of the movement—only five, had been captured by the second army. A court marital, composed of officers from the Second army, had been ordered for this purpose.
Officers Condemned to Death
Before this court one Negro officer had been tried, convicted and sentenced to much experience and observation in such matters had taught me that where even the most exact justice is conceived a Negro injustice and converts them in the eyes of their fellow inmates. Therefore at once ordered, the court to suspend trial upon the other cases and determined personally to investigate the case of the state of mind of the Negroes in the 92d division before I should proceed any further with the trials, and to me complete this investigation.
It developed a lack of feeling among the Negroes of the division, a general dislike of the division. Many of them knew nothing and almost all of them cared nothing about it. Those who knew seemed to be afraid of the Negroes would give justice, and especially a court marital composed of officers of another division. The same investigation led to some 60 other Negro officers of the division who were at that time being examined as to fitness to retain their white officers.
Trials for Cowardice ::
I forwarded these five cases for final consideration by the president, who will be let off from all punishment. I felt perfectly sure that it would so result, and the president ordered them all released. As I now remember it, the other 25 officers and the rest of the battalion escaped everything, even reclaimed. The 525 division had a complement of exceptionally good higher officers and officers whom I knew. But among them all, except the general in command of the division, I found when I met them that they were the most profound discouragement. Not one of them believed in being with anything as soldiers. Every one of them would have given anything to have been transferred to another, with the painful use of discongruance that I have ever seen among soldiers.

Could Not Stand Bombardment
The Negroes were a great disjointment. This experience did not affect the army of the United States with Negro soldiers. I could not assemble higher officers. These officers generally, as I have said, were good, in most times excellent. The French had troops in their front lines, and troops in their front lines treachened against the enemy. The Negro, it was two or three days before the armistice I resolved to attack the enemy to do just what I had decided to put my resolution into effect I received an order from General Pershing to do what I had decided to do. The negro division as to the rest of the Second army. The division made no imitation of consequence upon the enemy. "The poor 224 Negroes" (filiary, where they did attack and in some places where they should have attacked, never budged at all. It seems the real as of the Negroes). "Two days age" (diluvia, Nov. 12) and marinus fight, could be made to attack in any effective sense. The general who commands them can't make them."
The general seemed to me to have lost sight of military efficiency in the French army, and in his mind. And the prospect of, little occupation for these vigorous black men in the quiet days after the war, the French population.
Views of the French People
It is, commonly 'believed among Americans that French people have quickly found was an error. While there were very few French people in the division, they were not happy to have the Norgues among them. The Norgues is a more sexual man than the white men, and more offensive to white women than a white man is. The little acts of violence in a white man become with white women the cause of complaint amongst the Norgues. This special Norgues divides heavily charged with 15 cases of rape. For these reasons immediately after the division, the feet that this division be sent home first of all American troops, that they be sent home in an army unit. The answer came that Marshal Foch would not, pending peace, approve the trans-
Gets 92d Sent Home First
In answer I told the American headquarters that she would be responsible for the acts of these Negroes toward French women, and that the American home at once. This brought the order and the 92d was, I believe, the home of the 92d who was told that the division was received at home with great glorification. I should say that the division should be the American army abroad was rebelled. My own sense of duty under the American army I say that, while a port of the division was waiting for its railroad connection, another thing, one American woman complained that she was cavalled by five 92d soldiers.

Unable to Make a Raid
The 32d Negro division is not making much, if any, progress in the war, and it never will be worth anything as aighting unit. Its division commanding general, Col. James O. Self, and his man, I am inclined to think he will have to be 'S. O. Self' and I will have from Oct. 25 then until a few days before armistice. I put forth an effort to some offensive operation, as a raid, against the enemy. The division itself is busy, vicarious looking soldiers, well equipped. The enemy troops against us are not any means the best. I provided the most skilled French and American advisers and instructors for the war, and once a successful raid, I never sue
Washington, D. C. May 29—Congressman Hamilton Fish, Jr. of New York, is supporting a movement in the erection of a monument in France to Colonel of the French army.
In part his report follows:
"The 268th Infantry was the first Negro combat unit to reach France. On December 30, 1917, being among the first 100 American soldiers to an overseas. It was also the first time an American soldier in the front lines, taking over a quiet sector the first week in April, 1917, and was later the first Rhine after the armies.
"All the service of the regiment was on the Champagne front except in France, where its battle casualties throughout its operations in France were 153 killed, including 15 white officers, and 40 non-standing feat performed by the regiment was its attack and capture of the chalk (Champagne) and later in conturing the town itself.
"The 350th infantry served as part of the 720 French divisions. Its battle casualties were 90 killed and 90 wounded.
Perhaps the most outstanding feat performed by the 320th infantry during the World war was its attacks on the Allee river, near Tunnel, on April 3, 1918. The 321st infantry served as part of the 25th and 157th divisions, and as a part of the 31st and 57th divisions. They many days in quiet sections and four days in active sectors. Its battle casualties were 121 killed and 95 wounded.
Perhaps the outstanding feat performed by the war was its attack upon and capture of a portion of the heights near Ardennes, Montana (Champagne).

that we had been chosen among others to make Europe safe for us with its establishment over there it would become a reality over here. But judge my feeling of surprise with its establishment and Tuesday first a subtle intimation that the Negro soldier was a World War, war, war, war, a brazen statement that he was a coward and not the equal of the white soldier. "As a beacon cannot change his spots, neither can the Bourbon deserves relative to the changes his prejudices relative to the changes." But General Bullard will have to do more than write that description from the pages of American and European history the courage, devotion and patriotism of the American He will have to take from the archives at Washington the history made such a splendid record at Camp Pillow and Fort Wagner during those days when General Bullard state declared against the Union. He can't discredit the Negro as a man as long as San Juan Hill endures.
I remember it as though twas but yesterday, the courtroom had had the same day before, the judge led the sailors from the block house perched upon that ancient retired singing as they went to the rear, "The Star-Spangled Banner," and the position thus vacated by the Rough Riders a Negro regiment, singing as they approached their baptism of the Old Town Tonight", and that very evening those Negro soldiers handed out Cubs for 50 years and dung Old Glory to the breeze, where she still lined up through the American history as the crimson thread through our national emblem is the pattern of the Negro soldier that will require more than that chapter of your memories to have their record at Carrural in the sands of Mexico, in the Isles of the Sea, and written upon golden pages long after the Bourbon prejudice of the democracy of the South is but an unpleasant nightmare in the history of the
General Bullard, in common with others of his kind, insulated with the virus of Colonophila virus to serve as stevedores, builders of roads, unloaders of ships and cooks, in fact to do anything and anything that tried their shirred skin and proved to be a fly in the military ointment was to see a Nergo with the insignia of a major or ruler on his shoulder.
Misstated Facta
In speaking of the trial of the Negro officers that he accuses of running into a police department, he recommended lenency. He did, but he did it because he knew that those officers had received orders from the police department. He said they run, the record says they fell back, but was permissible. I wonder how *general Bullard* classifies the two white *American* regiments, who throw down the rifle, and how *General Bullard* thinks he for me what does he think about that white regiment that was out of liaison with its regiment for several days. Had they been Negroes he would have had ards, but being whites they are referred to ag the *Bullard* attack, and the white regular *restitution* only re-occurs.

Uroea Equal Opportunities
"In the second place, if we are to the greatest potential of the zone, we must equal opportunities for the development of our facilities as an other citizen."
"Aside from these two enterprises, Mrs. Washington is also largely recruited from the school which brings together, twice a month, the women who live on the school grounds and those who live in the discussion of some important topic."
Believed in Humanity
During the 35 years of service at the institute, she has endured hardships, including the loss of teachers and students alike. It was to Mrs. Washington that representation was encouraged, when they were in difficulties and were discouraged, for there they were. She was a patient hearing and constructive aid. Through her dynamic and gripping personality, confidence, in humanity, many boys and girls have been encouraged to keep pliggings away until they are ready to be confident and are now rendering valuable service to the Race and nation. Her human beings and her confidence in the doctrine expounded by her husband, that in the man who is up is freeing himself and doing what he does. Mrs. Washington sought as all times to pull those out of the gut dark and dank despair, and put them on their feet as self-respecting human beasts.
A National Figure
Just as her husband enforced a man-made she, Toregessing the qualification, instead she helped the women to be injected her personality into the life of the nation. She was a pioneer in the education of Colored Women's clubs, of which she was a member. In the commission an interracial opera was performed at the International Council of Women the International Council of Women the Darker Lakes, which was organized by the Women's League.
Her interest in all of these activities and in the work of Dorothy Hall, the director of the medical department, of which she was director, never named or waived. To the last degree, she was interested in fact the physical breakdown which led to her death followed a recent visit to Alexandra to安慰 her. She was commissioned on interracial cooperation, and during her illness each day the physician would permit she to attend conferences of Dorothy Hall and keeping in touch with the various movements conducted by and for her

NEW YORKERS WILL COMBAT PRESS ABUSES
Take Steps to Oppose Unfair Reports
Brooklyn, N. W., June 12—With the efforts of the officers to fasten the crime of the murder of Florence Kane (white), who was a sister of a city detective, on William Brassfield, Janitor of an Osborn St. apartment in Brooklyn, and attentions of the police also to connect Walter Johnson, who recently came here from Florida, with the crime, Janitor of an Osborn St. apartment in Brooklyn, an elevator operator, on the charge of impairing the morals of a 12-year-old white girl without any justification, a number of prisons and dangerous headlines appearing in several papers, without any justification, a number of prisons and are speaking of holding a meeting, not so much to protest against this deliberate plan to viliate our city, but to combat this obvious effort to portray us to the world as criminals of the lowest type. The chief reporter was told of this plan by one of our most representative citizens, who is a state official and did not want his name used, and to participate in the movement, because they wanted to meet and discuss the best method to combat this crime, using the white metropolitan press.
To Sea Press Heads
Enough of the idea was outlined to learn that every effort would be made to get into personal touch with the suspect, and make such a practice of this outrageous habit and see if the matter is adjudged and the so-called code of the suspect does not permit these headlines be changed. The case of brassfield has attracted city-wilds and even nation-wilds and has led to a record, the police attempted to connect him with the crime. Despite the fact that he had been trying, accusing him of criminal investigations, to liaise a clean life, Miss Kane was found strangled to death just after midnight Thursday, and was taken near her home in New York, New York.
The police were told by a white milliken that he had seen two white men into the lot. They worked on the clue and in the language of the cliff of detectives the trail "out cold." With no real clue, they were told of the men who had been seen in the neighborhood, and straightway they arrested Rossolda. A white girl "identified" him, and the police were told he would be held on the charge of murder she then became not so positive. This was followed by two white men, who went to the Raymond St. jail, and were arrested. Rossolda sailed. Yet the police sent him in.
Wife Gives Alibi
His wife, who lives with him at the apartment house located at 655 Osasaki, he had already given him his alim. He had already given him his snake, he had already given him his snake; he yet was held. She secured a lawyer for him, and despite him plea the court would not release him, yet he was pointed directly to a white man having committed the murder, according to the form. Our reporter overheard Detective Kane state that he did not believe that a "Colored man Walter Johnson were still kept in custody. It seemed that every time something happened in the neighborhood, the police were according to his attorney. Brasfield was arrested some time ago on the ground that he was responsible for the crime, but it was later proven that he was innocent. The case of the police has fallen into the hands of the son and the son are concerned. It is expected that they will be soon released.

JOLLY'S LETTER
Dallas, Tex.-Well, here I am on the set of *The Big Bang Theory*, Dallas, Tex. I must say I enjoyed the management, although I was not a big fan of Dallas. The business here this week was very, very poor indeed in the way that I hadn't had a paying job here the past few days. The having here the past few days, the business by the heat was 115 last week. As I said before, the engagement is you cannot set out of Dallas to make a movie, but you can set out of Dallas to play a week owing to that fact. I told Toller and Tommy Harris were amused this week, and I was to go to New York to see them. We are forced to lay off until next week. Toller and Harris offered two airtime fast week the first. Fun in the studio, and a chance to see Dallas. Last half of the week they were for longer, which was a scream with plenty of bells, fun, shooting and excitement always does. I was too tired so I gave them an exhilaration but to please them. I did the best I could, and the audience thought I didn't so we will let them have their say about it.

There was a cultural house, a well-established certain series on a choreo of well-established madies singing "Springtime" ("Layback") Nelson and "Justify Prank" Tanith working under work, and a concert in their clever tiger act, folkloric and fast book and wing dances.
Wilkie渤胖, playing straight, drew songs in their tiger act, "Filler" after which he steamed with some fancy aerobatic dance.

Before a capacity house, 10,000 strong, at East Chicago Friday night, Tiger Flowers, the sensational Georgia southpaw fighter, outboxed, outfought and outgenerated Jock Malone, the white flash from St. Paul, Minn., and the pride of Chicago's light heavies.
For 10 rounds, with the exception of the seventh, Flowers was master. For 10 swittering rounds the Georgia Tornado bounded around the ring like a soft shoe dancer, always keeping his right in Malone's face, slamming right and left to body and face and forcing the crowd to applaud by his cleanness. Malone also displayed gentlemanly tactics in the ring and all who saw the contest declared it to be the cleanest fight ever held in or about this section of the country.
Tiger lived up to all advance notices. One minute he was a scientific boxer, the next a wild man tearing in, the following he stood off and fought and the next he would let go a terrific wallop.
From the top of the going whitethin Westside, Malone ried. The plan of battle was to rush at Flowers and make a quick job of the whole stall, but he found Flowers produced, battling and at first half minute of fighting, when the Georgian caught Jock with a punch in the stomach, Jock decided to outrun
The second round saw the real Flowers, Cunning and darling, cautiously, he kept jabbing his eight into Malone's face. From that round on he peeled the white hat to perfection, he took Malone on hand in an elbow on his knee, he caused even Malone's followers to apprehend him, by his riot tactics, and Malone with the book of hiked-guard hand and each time he swiped the St. Paul law across the noses of Malone. Malone showed his fear of Malone and worry in the fourth round. Flowers, on the other hand, was alarmed by Malone's pink of condition. Malone never worried him until the seventh when

BOB LAWSON VICTOR OVER RAY NEUMAN
Beats His Man in Six Rounds in Gotham
New York, June 15—Among that curious and waddled crowd at a baseball game, Tommy Gibbs by Tommy Tunney were some 5,000 or more fans to witness the bouts, but there was no much interest, so far as they were concerned, as any other contest on the field of the star attraction. It was a great night, with Lawson the victor, and Tunney the early and each came near doing it before the bell called a halt in the sixth. Neumann had the better of the straight rights that went squarely to the Alabama boys' chin. In the fourth session he to a walk and Bob handed him a passtier. Fourth session was a left-fist affair with Lawson on the winning end, probably because of a longer bout, toward the end of the round Bob sent a vicious left into Ray's mouth, because of nothing higher on footing.

Harry Wills **round tilt for trickle** title a short while ago there was considerable discussion as to which one of the two contests would be on last night, nor be considered the start attraction. Wills, beloved forth that he had been a scandal in many years and that he would point where he was the logical contender for Jack Benemeyer's title and probably would have been the champion of consideration, he was entitled to that privilege and did not intend to start losing semi-finals even for Jimmy Connery, because like helping the hospital fund.
Wills is still doing his training at the University of North Carolina, probably will end it there instead of Atlantic City or Southampton, L. I. he has in mind first contemplated doing an opponent's "sabit" Wills today, "regardless of the reputation of his opponent, nor of neither do I allow myself to overestimate their ability. We been in the game too long for any such misnounce, nor for any one supposed to be there with me except any opponent and the referee meant I am there to light and win."

This show will probably be the blazing door season, because of its many angles of disposing of the ducts. Every city in the Greater City is rolling back.
The two attractions, one a championship affair and the other the heavyweight title, which usually draws crowds, are on paper, will draw a record gate. The fight fans of our group up Harlem way are lining up to root for the winner. We want to have an out-of-town celebration at the scrap from nearby cities.

MICHIGAN VS. AMHERST
RUNNING WILD
WHEN the call for the finals of 100-yard dash was sounded at San Antonio on Friday, the running of Chicago's national intercollegiate meet, the following men lined up to watch the game: two from the far south, white-eyes, two from the far south, one of which represented the state of Illinois; two from the side of three scores of color, one was Wesley Johnson of Wenatchee, Wash.; Floyd Shaw, Winnold, Floyd Shaw, Winnold, Tech. high school, Detroit; David Kalman, former basketball player on Phillips high school, Chicago; and the team for the December. Back of the young reporter sat some southern whites, the voice of Alonzo Sting-rung out, "On your mark—get out," and then the gun. They were
off at a perfect start. Foster at once took the lead, with Shaw and boys were behind. The southerners forgot tiltelf, "good God!" he told the players are running wild to wild. Foster kept the lead and finished two yards in front to equal the two yards in front to the tallest fell by the wayable, Shaw set it off. The running of the lions much for Tolon and Shaw, but they did well. Draper of Dallas, Texas must go back home to tell the white champion, where he was beaten by Foster. Where else he was beaten champion—among the white school athletes—in how well the must be able, ability, he takes second place. There is a difference between the North and the South, you will say. There is.
