Your Kid
Your Kidneys Bear Great Burdens in Life
Your kidneys hold the key to health. Your kidneys are great sewerways of the body; they perform functions which no other organ of the body can perform; they are the filter through which all your blood passes.
The blood flows on and on through the great arteries taking up filth and poison, constantly emptying it into the kidneys for filtration. If the kidneys are weak or impaired, certain portions of poison are left in lead to annoying and often dangerous conditions. The back gets weak, bladder molested, bags form under the eyes foot and ankles some times swell, nervousness takes place, you are restless at night, rheumatic pains are frequent, heart action imperfect, gas forms in the intestines, causing cramps, colic, pleurisy and a derangement of proper digestion.
For these conditions we have scientifically prepared a remedy. We call that remedy POWLER'S 10 DROPS. The high words of praises received daily have strengthened our faith in it for even more than we recommend it for. If it proves a blessing to you in bad conditions of the kidneys and stomach, tell others about it, for the good things you say about POWLER'S 10 DROPS will do more good than all our ads in this great Negro paper.
HOW TO GET FOWLER'S 10 DROPS
If you live in Dallas, get it at either of the following drug stores: Mintu Drug Store, Elm and Central Brands; Williamson Drug Co., Swiss and Central Streets; Smith's Pharmacy, Commerce and Ervay and Owl Drug Co. Ervay street, opposes the postoffice. If you live outside of Dallas, send us a post office money order. The price is one dollar a bottle, or six bottles for five dollars. We pay the war tax and postage and send FOWLER'S 10 DROPS by Parcel Post mail to all parts of the United States. A special low price is made to agents, and we want agents everywhere.

KOH-I-NOR'S STORY ENDLESS
Complete Tale of Matischle Diamond,
Now One of British Grown Jewels,
was Never Told.
All the world has heard of the Kobt-or, or as it has been sometimes called, the Great Mogul diamond, and it would seem that there was no worth in it. But the Eleanor Mooddeck in Asia Maximus Yet, in point of fact, not a twelfth of its history has been triced, so far does it extend back into the past. It is a strange thing, perhaps one of the strangest things about it is that it cannot be lost to the world indefinitely. It was blocked and plastered up in a small and narrow room, where the owner had been murdered. It was twice thrown away as a hit of glass and once went to the wanderer in the pocket of an
This matchless gem is called in India the "Mountain of Light" and the "Mountain of Kings" in the Christian world, and is deeply ingressible to its possession. Strangely enough, after it fell into the hands of a Turkish man named Kemal, known as the "Save Kings" set on the throne of Delhi for eight years, during which period the desire to possess the kingdom was intensified obsession. Suddenly it disappeared in the chaos that brought the slave drastically to an end in 1380. It was blinded with bloodlessed to the reign of

Skiba Jalan down to his Sea Aurang-sab, who exhibited it to a number of Europeans whom he was entertaining at his court. Among them was Tavernier, the French jeweler, who later wrote a description of Europe. After being found like a shuttlecock in the Daelh loot, and remaining for a period of years with the Shiks in the Punjab, this most celebrated diamond in the world was exhibited in cushionation of Britain's crown jewels in the grim old Tower of London.
Sunday morning I rose before the family and went out to view the landscape. After, enambling a number of rocks, I watched the time and climatic influence had changed into black-and-white oasis, I was about to return when I chanced to ask my friend, a girl, to take me a short distance away. Desiring to explore, I soon found myself walking down the smooth, water-water floor of a canyon that was so narrow that my elbows

I was soon a hundred feet or more below the surface of the meter, yet wiped out the water with wading shoes. I wailed on, casting my eyes upward occasionally to where a scrub juniper hid for a moment the water was still. I noticed that the opening terminated shortly. Dropping my gaze, I discovered on the left the thruput turn that I had expected, and, again look, I saw the water. The water was the antes of a bobany of bank swallow. The tooting was so good that I walked steadily forward, my eyes widening.
Austria the boundary separating two states of the middle West, a Companion state to Austria, one of those barren regions where nature seems to have forgotten her uncompleted task. On one side of the border, the Austrian Alps have cut by deep cracks and ravines. A little more than a quarter of a state has called me to a housebound claim on the border.
Suddenly becoming aware that the light about me, which hettoreth had come only through the alt far above, was increasing. I stopped abruptly, with my body already thrown forward, my right foot raised for the next step.

Yellowstone Park Rangers With Roosevelt to a Man.
Colonel's Characteristic Greeting of Down-and-Outer, Whom He Had Known in Happier Days, Is Still Remembered.
Of the few out-season visits paid to the Yellowstone, that of Colonel Roosevelt, who, when president, spent 24 days of the late winter of 1903 there, has the most prominent page in a manifest of the Eagle rangers. He found the scouts, then serving chapernors for lackless cavalry troops and doing their own work besides, to be men after his own heart, and did not hesitate to say so. Before he had been in the park a week every ranger was swearing by him.
"Anybody know the whereabouts of our Warrior," was one of the colonel's early insignia.
Jim McBride, the present chief ranger, who was then assistant chief of the park scouts under the late Hatebowski, and who was then a Bill Lochwood chopper and neer-do-er well, cheeky remarkable for an insatiable thirst and a knack of ministering to it in a boney park. He was about the last man who had been a Bill Lochwood the United States would be expected to inquire.
"Bill put me into office once," said Roosevelt, "I want to see him, drunk out here." He further explained that the derelict had been sheerly during his own days as a ranchman and had made him a deputy in a horse-blef possession. That old horned toad and bring him in," said McBride, in recalling the incident, "but just to listen in at the colone's heavy greeting of that down-and-out man." "Well, Ted, you got a right swell job since I seen you last," Jones remarked when he had exchanged how'd-you'ds, that not needn't stand between friends—I got something on
"Colonel Roosevelt didn't partake, but he did spend the best part of an hour swapping yarns of the days when Bill was "white man" and shifft of his county. The woodchopper tried to buck up after his talk with the president, but it wasn't to be done. The next winter we found him dead in the brunish owl of Blanty Creek.
"The colonel was enthusiastic over the sport of ski running, and was something of a performer on the shuns himself, for a novice. He was often as often as opportunity offered. One morning on a slide near the Canon hotel he broke one ski and came a heavy cropper. He has fallen at last," he cried with a molar showing grin, as it coated down to help unangle a living president and a pair of dead sticks.
"He made us at the wreck he had made of the hickory slims when

Destined to Become Dallas Leading Department Store
With this announcement, the writer for a moment wishes to engage the attention of the Ladies and children of Dallas relative to making something for your attention to the art of making and saving we therefore announce: "He who saves soon is the one who saves soon, and then is an essential in life and comfortable living, and readily makes an individual independent. There is a dollar in every dollar a dollar go the full length of its value. In doing so one is thus able to save money. Buyers who practice economy are those who save; and every dollar saves a dollar made. We buy where the dollar will get the most. Now this is a season of the year when changing your wallet paints an abolished necessity. Suffice it to say that your attention has often been called to where you want to be. We suggest the big Ladies and Children store down on Elm at Lamar, as your choice. Covering over a list of Dallas merchants two out of every three woman shoppers will select Well Saver, saving on each individual purchase.
Capt, John Plocher of the First cavalry then in command of the park, arrived. "Have you plenty of these?" Teddy said.
"Only a few pairs, and they are the property of the interior department," replied the officer. "He sees that three weeks there came a rush shipment of a hundred pairs. 'Next afternoon the president challenged me to a race on snow shoes from Canvey to Mammoth, a distance of thirty-five miles. Those with him decided that the trip would be an unnausea strain upon him, and began to argue against his attempting it. He got me to one side after a while and fell flat. 'We'll let them talk, Mr. Bride. Just you stick around until midnight. They'll be sleepen after, and will hit it.'" It took Harry W. Child and Captain Pitcher two hours to talk him out of that. He wasn't at all pleased at what he was to eat his own plan for a winter departure."—Ebel and James Dorrance in Muney's Magazine.

KILL A Million Prairie Dogs.
Conducted extermination of what was considered dog "towns" in the West has been reported to the predatory animal inspector's office at Phoenix, Artz, by the county's wildlife department. Cochise county, southeastern Arizona.
More than 1,000,000 dog dogs were estimated to have lived on the property. They were encased until the management started an offensive campaign against them. Now their vast homespots of underground burrows are utterly damaged, the company reported.

There were three foot thick and its surface covers an area 20 square. The pieces were moved by hooked iron rods, making the game of value as physical as well as a men's game.

Island of Cherso Haa Become Point of Importance on the New Map of Europe.
The Veranias conference set Americans searching the gazetters for Yap; the San Remo conference turns the spotlight to another obscure island — "Practically unbearable on of this side of the Atlantic, eluding most travelers, even escaping many of the seekers there, known known places, known places, known known, inaccessible or nonunattractive," says a bulletin from the National Geographic society. "H dangers like a pendant in the Gulf of Quernero, low hung from the neck of a ship, or in the port, its shore line rising 12 miles to the south of D'Annunzius's present stronghold. His slender form extends to the sea for 40 miles, though excesses extend to the sea and its area is somewhat more than twice that of the District of Columbia. "Holding in mind this location, near the equator, the oceanic plateau, the neptune's fjames a buffer state between Italy and Jugo-Slavia, the strategic possibilities of Chocos become apparent. Indeed, one may picture it as a potential Heligopan

Thus the Slavs of this region have come to be known, by a corruption of this title, "In rural districts Moroccan women retain their historic costume, which includes a kerkhel for the head, many strands of beads, a waist band from which they wear a necklace, kets, and, over a blue cloth gown, an apron of exquisite embroidered pattern. About her neck an unmarried woman wears a necklace which comprise her dowry. Formerly the men wore their hair in a plait, which their wives were expected to wear, and charms, and anoint with fats."

This latter place is considered more appropriate than the other places where the dians and they not only lived there, but had feces, as remains have shown, while skeletons of the original inhabitants have been found. Their name for the place was Cantaguenti. It is believed that the Indians heard the Indians and on the crest of the hill they appeared to the peo-

There are brides and brides and after all of them we often hear some one speak longingly of "the old-fashioned woman who one certainly beat all the old-fashioned ones we had ever heard of. She was in a furniture store storing the furniture to put in their new home. She was talking to talk her into buying some which she felt that they could not afford. As a particular indemnation he said: "But really this is a wonderful bargain, you have to buy it." The girl smiled at him. "But I can't afford to buy it." she returned in a perfect good humor, "and besides I've got such a wonderful husband that I have not even a wonderful thing—not even bargains."

ever, seen a swan apparently enoughe to hold the band of a rival naked in the water, to be swallowed by the enemy to make out what happened.
Some birds have spurs on their wings. The spur-winged goose, which is the most powerful bird, resembles a dock on stilts, has extrordinary wing power. One of these gorse went for a gardener who had gone into its incursion in the "gorse" and had him up for a week. The crested screamer has actually double spurs on its wings and is a very awkward customer to tackle.
The crested screamer prey use their talons as their principal weapons. The strength which lies in the talons of even a small hawk is almost imperfect. As for an eagle, one has been used to kill a large bird, the skull of a large turtle into the brain, killing the animal instantly.
The pheasant are the only family of birds provided with spurs. Our own pheasant is the most powerful of this genus, and it is in the game fowl that the spur is developed to the greatest perfection. These leg spurs resemble the horns of cattle, in that they are covered by a protected by a smooth sheath of horn.
The guinea-fowl, again, is singular in that it has a blunt horn upon its head which it uses as an offensive weapon. I have never seen two herons fight, but if they did they would use their beaks and their beaks alone. The driving power of the long, sharp beak and the beak of a heron and when a heron is hawked you may see it endear to spit its smaller assailant upon its beak. An ostrich farmer tells me that he has an armor to pierce a sheet of corrugation on one with one tremendous kick. New Clothes on an Ol' Ons. A salesman up in gasoline row was telling how he almost had a bit of good luck. "As I was coming in on the Bluff road, the other evening, just after dark," he said, "I saw a good man get up in the house, not a house within a half-mile, so I stopped the car and beat it back to get the tire. I was a new one. I knew he was not a new man, when I got up within ten feet of it, it started to move, and over into the field it went. Just then I heard two boys laugh. "Three of the salesman's men got that same tire on the first night in April."-Indianapolis News.

The bride wears orange blossoms because the orange blossom is a sign of property. The orange plant bears the blossom and fruit at the same time.

PROF. N. W. HARLEE DELIVERS
WELCOME ADDRESS TO GRAND
LODGE MONDAY NIGHT.
Secret Fraternities.
Secret fraternities are elements of civilization and as such we find them in the social advancements for fraternity and social advancements. They live to himself, and no man dies in their companionship. Man longs for the companionship so society he is lost and looses qualities and develops into the best companions, with its society, with companions, he ever changes into higher levels of the sovereign and with proper environment of Christian grace, he leaves, he becomes the character of the highest type. God has design that he should not be alone, an island, a place of peace, and placed him in a garden and down through the centuries man has passed. Through these we can accomplish much in both the spiritual and material aspects of fraternity and have them more abundance. They are centers for the good do they.
Why We Meet in Annual Session.
We are met tonight in annual session, and we will view the work accomplished, and to take fresh encouragement for another year with the experience you have along the line of duty, and further to have a heart to talk about the great greatreatness counts for much in the way of wisdom and prudence in the council of the order. We are met plan for the greater growth of Pythianism.
Your work has been that of the great hamanitarian and that of the humane ministerial timely aid to the widow and orphan and to become ministering angels to their urgent needs, and too, your work in the higher citizenship, in that every lodge organizes and every member raises a higher motives, and higher incentives have followed in the pathway of raising the moral aspect and raising the membership in the grand old order.
Uniform Bank
Our uniform rank has kept alive the only heritage left to us as an institution in this commonwealth where in we and get a shadowy view of the past and of all the lodges to relish and even foster this department which means that we should be our purpose to recruit the Uniform Ranks in every possible situation and usefulness. Her ranks should be recruited by thousands of our students and usefulness. Her ranks should ever be encouraged and kept alive.
Object and Scope.
What is the object of becoming a moralist? It is our object the immediate benefits in cold dollars and cents, if so we might find these in others (e.g., the moralist's motives should be a monetary or pecuniary one, but there is a higher motive, the motive personal) or personal motives that should be taken in due consideration. By all means, we are to consider these, we are to consider these, we are to true Knights are to consider the spiritual side that raises us from the animal to the human.
The New Age.
We are living in a new and new age, in this new age Pythianism when rightly applied inspires new zeal, new methods that are to be our guide in our operations touching the intuitions of the struggle for human freedom an the demand for every right that clings to the inherent right of man to be thought that since Christ died to make men holy, we have given our brave boys the courage they died, since their dead

This forest food supply is divided into several groups such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, and dried foods, this makes no allowance for the types of edible umnibrows, for a special knowledge of varieties is necessary and the food be polished by the deadly toadstools.

John's expenditures at college had grown to be of such dimensions that father demanded he be decreased. The college offered an itemized account of all his demands for money. So when John wished a scholarship, he had to send in this request: "For one building with a pedigree, $50." He came in due time. And besides the small check in the envelope was this note: "I am sending you $5. If you have to have something else, please send a caryal bird. It's about your size."

Joy in Winning Success
The training of personality is often a matter of compulsion. Men shun loads and dodge responsibilities when they are in danger, and wealth and try taking the shortest road to it. That may land them there and it may not. Usually men have to do what they want, or they way of making men turn to themselves for what they get. Others are busy helping others, and they help to anyone. As men learn to do they develop power to do and eventually the love of doing takes possession of poetry, but it's according to fact. There's no joy like that of conscious success and it grows with what is learned.

Japanese Arts Being Forgotten.
A Japanese contributor to the Japan Advertiser has the following note on the forgotten art of his country: "All the polite arts and accomplishments of the Japanese have been taught to school boys of today know how to drink in the forms of the tea ceremony." Flower arrangement is being taught to the people of Tahoe. The first one was once one of the commonest acquaintances of youths, is a hopeless mystery to the people of Tahoe. The second one is their lexicon. When at home they read cheap story magazines, and when going out they put themselves at the door. They were so ever more dwarfed and penguin-footed, both physically and mentally. And the love of nature, of the earth, is the unimpaired character of the Yanacoa race is being quickly replaced by the love of money and accumulation."

How Wit Helps Legislation.
It is sometimes said that a reputation for wit is fatal to a serious legal matter, not altogether true, for more than once a bit of wit has prevented legal native folly. The tradition in Philadelphia that during the constitutional convention it was proposed to incorporate in the Constitution a provision that the United States army should never exert control over the nation's tradition the debate, which was possibly informal and outside the regular sitting, was abruptly cut short. Benjamin Franklin solemnly declared that the nation's another clause making it part of the organic law of the land that no foreign nation should ever invade the country with an army of more than 30,000.
A somewhat similar point was scored in the state legislature a few years ago when, during a discussion with a fellow senator, a shrewd yellow brownie from the hills of Sunderland, F. L. Whitmore, that a law should be enforced providing that one should be allowed to work in a small—Springfield (Man.) publican.

Tasmania now promises to become the world's chief producer for some time to come of the rare mineral osmium, which is found in the centers of this extensive serpentine belt on the west coast are already giving the profitable employment to 200 companies in the industry. Industrious diggers to enter up to £10 a week, while miners are making doubled profits from the mining belt on this highly interesting mineral occurrence is in course of preparation, and its publication, it is expected, will be published in the mining world to Tasmania. Last year 1670 ounces of osmidrium was produced in Tasmania, the value being 24 per ounce.
Machine Needed
Cotton might become much cheaper if some ingenious inventor would devise a mechanical use for picking the costly item, in time and labor. There are cotton-picking machines on the market, but none of them is very satisfactory. One of them operates by pressing the cotton against the cleaner, sucking the bolts off the plants through rubber tubes. Another utilizes steel bristles for entangling the bolts. When a really practical contrivance for the purpose is obtainable, an average farm family in the South will be able to produce foyles of cotton in a season, instead of seven bales—New York Times.

An interesting experiment in library co-operation is being worked out in the Long Beach Public library, Long Beach Cal. Forcy or 50 attorneyships of the public library for the purpose of books from their private libraries to the public library for the purpose of those contributing books in this way are entitled to take books from the cooperative library, keeping them for a certain period. The public library is allowed to consult the books at the library. The books are marked, "Launched to the Long Beach Public Library," and many as 200 books to the co-operation in the plan have each contributed as many as 200 books to the co-operation this idea might be worked out successfully in other lines of endeavor, then making the resources found in books the largest possible number of people.
Nickel Money.
Nickels—which are really copper nickel, being a mixture of the two metals—were first coined in this country in 1858. They are still mining. Import deposits have been found in Pennsylvania.
Since then many units use for the nickel supply of the United States. But at the present time 85 per cent of the world's supply of nickel is derived from the mines of the Sudbury district, in Canada. The remaining amount is the ounce. Of the balance, France produces the bulk, contributing 11 per cent.
It has been suggested that Great Britain, practically controlling as she does the world's nickel, might switch from cheaped gold and make the nickel more valuable in her currency.

"Let's Pretend."
Everybody has things to put up with. There are sure to be ups and downs, and seven days when everything seems right again. To make home a happy place is the housewife's business, but she is not likely to make herself she is not likely to make a success of it. This will be much easier if she has had her early training and few of us make the most of all the chances for happiness that come to us. It is a difficult thing to do. But she has half the battle—*Washington Post*.

Printing is a part of life. You open
your favorite newspaper—and flaring
headlines thrill you with the news that
‘a King is dead, a City is burned, a Law
repealed! Printing has added one more
to the countless cameo-sharp impressions
that it has made all through your life.

ACALL TO ACTION Rk
Not a day passes but printing plays
an important part in your business or
personal affairs. It brings you word of
what others are doing, and it carries the
message of your ‘business, your mer-
chandise, to those you wish to interest.
And the message of your printing
is vivid just in proportion as it is proper-
ly presented,
How important, then, that your
printing be handled by a printer who
knows. Who can so combine brains
and printer's ink as to make just the
right impression on the people that you
want to reach and convince.

~ SERVICE
A SOLID CONFIDENCE BUILDER
A great word has been added to
the vocabulary of business in recent
years. The word itself is SERVICE. It
is the one solid practical rule for. build-
ing a business or a business career. If
you want to know how far you will go in
business, find out how much service you
are equipped to perform.
Tf you want to figure what you are
likely to get, first figure what have to
give. —Bruce Barton.

and would show the people—the right
way—to meet their problems.
