He seems to be wondering what Texans are going to do in the coming months about the political situation. Says Col. Simmons: MEMBER NATIONAL NEGRO PRESS ASSOCIATION. Simmons. There is every reason for his question. Texas leaders have shown that they are ready to begin the beginning of this campaign. Despite prayers, almost tears they steadily refused to make any sort of a statement or to move in any way calculated to get results until a group of voters called a meeting of their own accord and passed a set of resolutions calling the old Black and Tan Party into act- THE DALLAS EXPRESS has water hosted the white leather, whether it has been digged by the yellow streak. It is not affiliated with the flame retardant material, so it is resilient; conservation newsletters, which trims our sail to catch the pansing broops; files no dumbfaglish灯; it professes a patriotism as brand at our store; it is a cool, cool, cool justice covers all the territory occupied by the human race. This is pretty high ground, but we live on it and are presupposed. Bays of the press come with us. This ground is holy. W. E. KING. It is true that a powerful member of the "old guard" was present and signified his agreement in the precedents but since time there has been no reason to feel that any further action has been taken. The condition is deplorable. It ought not to be so. In so far as we have allowed the time to slip and our spirits to flag, we are due the greatest amount of criticism and censure. In two or three editorial utterances The "Express" has called the attention of Texans to this fact. But seemingly without result. It has, like Col. Simmons been led to believe that the time was ripe for action that would bring the results hoped for and it is still of the same opinion. This contest more than any in many years the "Grand Old Party" finds that this is "the time for all good men to come to the aid of the party." It will welcome Texans as all others, not primarily because of the fact that in the past it made the costly mistake of favoring the "Lily Whites to the exclusion of the more faithful and deserving Nugro, because it was not the best thing to have a deciding effect, it has been found that there is deep rooted desire that complete justice be done. QUITTERS Why is it that so many of our movements for good are started, followed for a time then allowed to fall into oblivion? Likewise the personal affairs of our which bid fair to become of the character, and happy and happy are so often shandoned when the pursuit of them becomes a bit difficult. Students choose only those courses which they are given to understand are easiest; if they prove hard they seem anxious to drop them. In short it is easier to start a course if you start easily and just as easily quitting. The road of least resistance is the one that we invariably seem to choose. Ease and rest, the will, the desire, the love of our love of just letting the whole slide when the going gets rough is responsible for many of our reputation for being "happy go-10-uck". It is while occasionally to stop and watch that if course is the wine one to follow. It is worth while to stop and consider the course. We often think in terms of a day when our children will take their places in the arena of experience. Since that day many and varied have been its experiences of the bravest of the brave; we will remember the story of its development reads like a novel. Vision a day of great accomplishment. In fact it is filled with so much of real struggle for the principal things of earth will have done to become acquaintance of things of earth will have done to become acquaintance of real Americanism. This is not pessimism. It is fact it seems unfortunate but it is fact we are not pessimistic and we are like it, are enthusiastic over it. Pragrents and great achievement do not live in following such a way, but more and in the thinking see to it that our actions and teaching to our children are calculated to help them to "gather into the ways of men, women who can "stay put" until the job is finished or they try. I am very much pained, when I sit and think of the 26 years that I have stood at the head of the Dickson Colored Orphanage, bought and paid for 1185 acres of land that contains on it 42 buildings, little and big. Seven thousand five hundred eighty-eight children have been enrolled, and 144 girls married to good men, several students graduated and are teaching school, 44 boys married off to good women, all of whom are cared for, fed and clothed and educated, 20 employees working at the Home, some are teachers, farmers, two Agents on the field and at a cost of $2,700.0 per month to run this Institution, and yet we can not interest our leaders throughout the State, because of their lifeliness and undeveloped condition. The Dickson Colored Orphanage maintains a regular high school with a full corp of teachers. Domestic Science, Domestic Art, Trek gardening, farming and Manual Training are being taught. Why can't the leaders of the race get under such a school like this. (Fakes and Fakies) There are some fakes and fakings going through the Country holding up to the public, a great school and hospitals that they have only on paper. Nothing in the world to show the public of what they are doing with the money. Going through the country collecting money, and the Negroes, pastors and Politicians haven't got the back end, and unloaded enough to state to the public and to defend their positions on these fakies. (School Born Over Night) Some of these people starts a school in Dallas, collect a lot of money, fall and run away, others start one million dollar four State Hospital, collect the money in Township of Tacoma, and others start another school in and in his head. Then another man starts a school in Dallas, falls, then goes to Longview starts a school then falls then goes to California, starts a school there and then starts a school better than it gets. And in the land, 800 students turned away, and this man is permitted to go over the Country collecting money for a school that has birthed 4 grown sisters in one night, and they are stinging to the world in interest of a school known as the "KEMP INDUSTRIAL" school. Then another man starts a school in Dallas, I have never left the State, I have stayed by the people from every angle, I have tried to be honest, I have told the truth, I have given to the public, an institution with a (What Is The Matter With the Race?) will the Negro leaders will open their mouth on the right things for rent and for the perpetuation of the Race, we will not get any further raciality and dishonesty, regardless as to whom it hurts.
