PHILADELPHIA, Pa. June 22—Philadelphia has just had an experience of how unscrupulous and jealous men try to destroy legitimacy of a business, and how prompt and decisive action broke up the scheme. Last week an application was made by Attorney John W. Parks on behalf of Lewis G. Jordan for receiver for the Cities and Southern Banking Company. This was a part of a large effort to prevent the scheme, which will be interested to know that the scheme has been nipped in the bud. The great white daily papers of Philadelphia were informed of this effort and asked to publish the matter. The Philadelphia Tribune and other reputable papers also refused. Then the matter was referred to the Philadelphia which did not know the situation.

Judge Promptly Hires Application for Receiver
The application was made before Judge Bartlett of the Common Pleas Court. The Judge demanded that Attorney Parks withdraw the application and not to publish it. The trouble started when the bank had Lawyer Parks arrested for embassing several hundred dollars from the bank which he had collected in the aid of a man who gave up the money and tried to build-dose the bank. He was arrested, put on trial and put in a situation at the bar of the court—Judge Bartlett presiding. HAMPTON, VA. June 28--Miss Bessie Walker, Norfolk, Va., who recently received her diploma from the three-year course at the Hampton Training School for Nurses and Dixie Hospital, described the opportunity which the nursing profession offers to well trained, conserved women. She said: "There are there was a demand for only two or three types of nurses. Tuesdays are taking larger places in the life of social service, and household nursing. The nurses are teaching children to teach the teaching personal hygiene and sanitation. Now 12,000 nurses are engaged in some form of public work. Nursing has stern to the dignity of a profession. The court refused to recognize his petition and forced him to withdraw it. June 17th has coms and gone. He said the court would not stoop so low as to connive with a crooked and discharged lawyer.
Jordan Has No Claim
Rev. L. G. Jordan's grievance is based on the fact that he borrowed money from the bank and put his interest in the building which the bank had loaned. He did not pay either interest or principal of this loan. So after waiting a year and making repeat payments, he sailed the sheriff of Philadelphia sell the property at public auction. The bank bought 'bidders' and bough Jordan's interest.
KANSAS CITY WHITES
AGAIN BOMB HOMES
Kansas City, Mo. June 26-The second bombing of Negro homes recently occupied in the so-called "white" neighborhood within a period of ten days occurred Tuesday night when the home of Lennell Williams, $617 East 20th Street, suffocated by a fire that gutted the window. The home of Patrolman Smothers, $25 and Montgomery, next door to Williams' residence was bombed ten days ago.
Find DYNAMIC Bomb
Sunday afternoon about four o'clock occupants of the Smothers' house found a bomb made up of a plastic bag and placed inside of the house near a cellar window. One fuse had worked loose from the bomb and had burned out, the second fuse had failed to burn.
The explosion Tuesday at the Williams home occurred about 11 p.m. and broke seven windows in an adjoining residence owned by an Italian and five windows in a home owned and occupied by a Jewish family.
"Will Blow Out Block"
According to goosin, via the grape route to, which reached Mr. Williams, the residents intend to "blow out the block" to争来 south of Twenty-Fifth Street.
Because of the apparent commotion at the depressions of the bombers both Williams and Smothers have intimated they plan to move out of the home. Williams and Smothers are said to have lamented the failure of the police to show the protected protec-

Little Rock Ark. June 28—Arkansas Landmarks must change the present operating system or continue to lose the Negro tenant farmer and labor, according to a report submitted to T. A. Wilson, commissioner, by a Negro farm agent, graduate of Tuckekee Institute, employment to the Negro farm, to return to the farm.
"Once the Negro has moved to the city, or gone North, there is a need to continue the farm," the agent reported after several weeks' through investigation among those who have migrated to the farm.
The agent recommends substitution of cash for the present credit system; education to raise food and income; encouragement of home ownership; elimination of charging; good civil trial conditions; strictions of crime and immorality and better homes.
The agent also said, despite high trial conditions the Negro is dissatisfied with crowded conditions. The agent also stated that the Negro is willingly. The Negro farmer is often overcharged for what he buys, and the Negro is willingly in his report to Mr. Wilson. The agent tells numerous complaints. No Negro canvassed made complaints or inquired by white men, he said.
Before the employment of a Negro agent, the Labor Department moves to move the farm. The older Negro labor in the larger cities plus Negro labor in the smaller cities to move to the farm. The older Negro coordinating to Mr. Wilson, and the plan of having a Negro work among them.

ADAIR AGAIN WINS WITH HANDS DOWN
Austin, Texas, June 28—The voice of the Taborians has again spoken in the favor of Reverend J. S. Adair. This time the sound was so unmistakable as to be decisive to the ex-convict that can be no misleading its geniusness.
Never before in history of Texas the court of The Taborians such a demonstration as greeted the installation of officers in the auditorium of Spheneser Taboracle meetings are being held this week.
All of the year the affairs of Tabor have been in the possession of the court of The Taborians, counter charges have been the rule rather than the exception. Cases have been tried and witnesses have been questioned. The Tabor have not been straightened out.
The status of the Grand Lodge at its beginning here was hard to determine. There was hardly an officer who was not enjoined by some court order. The time of opening there was doubt of the ability of the officers to be able to proceed with the business of the Taborians.
The opening program was carried out according to schedule with the assistance of the ceremonies. The delegation is large and the number of interested onlookers made the gathering one to

‘The Cleveland convention of the Republican Party has
‘closed and plans are now under way for the active cumin
for ‘the votes which will again send Calvin Coolidge to the
White House a5 prosident of these United States and Char-

other convention in the history of the party can we look
‘back with as much satisfaction as upon this one just closed.

litically is brighter than ever before.
‘There are now three Negro national committeemen and
one of them is a woman. During the convention a second
'to the nomination for the candidate for the presidency was
made by a Negro, One of the reading clerks was a Negro.

on terms like rent. Best location in Dallas. No mud, close to Myrtle car line; good water, phones, electric lights, no city taxes, no water rents.
Large lots, all face north and south, graded streets, solid Bermuda grass yards; located on south end of Oakland Avenue.
Only $10.00 cash down and $2.50 per week and when you have paid in $150.00 on the lot we will build you a pretty home which you can be proud of and you can stop paying rent, or if you pay in $150.00 now you can move into one of the new houses now being built and the balance like rent. Don't it off; buy now.
Salesmen are on the ground every afternoon 3 to 6 o'clock, all Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday and all day July 4th. Come out and look them over. You surely will want one.
To see the lots go to the south end of Oakland Avenue; if you go on the street car, take Myrtle car, go to the end, then 1 block east to Oakland Avenue, then go south on Oakland to the Addition. Remember the City has ordered Oakland Avenue to be paved within 3 blocks of our Addition.
A Few of the Colored People Who Have Bought Lots and Homes in Lincoln Place
We will build homes for most of the above----many more have bought lots.
Go see these lots at once and don't miss out. There will not be any more high class lots like these on such easy terms, and these are going fast; so come out Sunday and bring your $10.00.

POOR LI'L CAROLIN
They regarded him as a sort of Moses.
"What made matters worse, Uncle Joe next door to us, uncle of the little shack from our house. We drew water from the same well that Uncle Darrow had Father raided at the fate that caused this to be and tried to buy water from the same well. Father Darrow would not sell. So someone he knew that my father hated him and he wanted to xev him. He had but merely mischievous, like a child. Father, however, the Uncle Darrow part and his hatred waged the stronger. Southern hatred knew and that is the sort of hatred James Brasher entertained for Edward Darrow and all of his
"Now in Bradshaw they maintain a makehift school for educated children poorly enlightened, porous, and illiterate, so it does not extend beyond the 7th grade, and the lords of education in that section are in a high school. After you finished the 7th grade your education was complete so you could go to a grammar mat grades, and were hungering for more knowledge. If you were not satisfied with the crumba you picked up in the gram mat grades, and were hungering for more knowledge, you went to you to go to a larger city. These conditions gave my father the opportunity to destroy the crumba and sprung up between me and the Darrow children. So soon as I finished the local school, I was sent to the Darrow school, to the lower the high school there, I met many charming young people and many charming flattering attention-grabbing children who knew how to be pleasant and sociable, but their charm of man-

ner did not effect me greatly. My first summer vacation I was not permitted to return to Bradshaw. But the next summer I did. I imposed I created something of a sensation I brought many of the students to. I made them differently from the other girls and had so much poise and all that I was the center of attraction among the students, shaw, you know, seldom leave home to attend school. It was a novelty they knew. Therefore
"Everybody thought that I would straightway sniff Floyd and Malala. I would have young lady. I had polish and poles. Therefore, it was proper for me to look better than a jout like Floyd. I would have young lady. I had aside on those grounds. I hatred my friends for even intimating a thing. I had known him. I had known him as a brother to me. It was impossible for me to snub him merely because my friends considered him. "My father was plainly dismayed but he did not make a demonstration. He remained silent — fearfully silent. Well, at the end of that summer vacation I returned to school. On my way to the airport to Floyd and assured him that there would never be a change in my attitude toward him. Father told me that I would not until after I graduated. Then it was to be for only a short while. I would to send me North to college.
"I was in my seventeenth year now and my friends said that I was a great artist. Coupled with my alleged beauty I had the humiliation of an education, not to mention the stammering stammering associated with city-bred folk. But with all these things to my advantage, I did not humiliate myself."
"But they did not turn against Florid. These stories made me sympathetic. They were rough and uncoupled and unlettered, I admit; but there was a rugged honesty about me. I always felt safe and uncoupled in his presence. He was so ugly and strong and safe and secure in his presence, courage to fight for the thirths that others would deny him. He had the courage to fight for what is why I admired him so—no it wasn't admiration—love was that. Love that I wished to have. That is why I admired the opinions of my friends. (To be continued next week.) Judge—Your wife is for divorce on the good grounds of neglect. Why did you desist this woman? Defendant—I ask you, Judge, did you ever avert a suit to a trap you made of cheese that put him there? Yes, Russell, no man who assacuses him long time if the clock struck first.
