THE DALLAS EXPRESS he has never hastened the white feather, neither has it been digged by the yellow streak. It is not affiliated with the flamell month. It is in a plain, every day, sensible, conservation newspaper, which has no doubt that it will files on doubtful flags: it professes a patriotism as broad as our country. Its love of even hands-faced covers all the territory accepted by the human race. This is pretty high ground, but we live on it and we are preparing to stand with us. This ground is help. Of course the time will never come in the South in the near future when such a course will be possible. The lines of political demarkation as yet are too tightly to allow any such happenings. Unless the choice of the Negro is made between the Republican and some of the other parties which as yet have not proven attractive in their platforms, there must be the same adherence to the G. O. P. that has characterized our voters in the past. W. E. KING. Patronize the City Parks Again the summer as in the two years that have just passed it becomes necessary to again call the attention of the public to the publicizing the public parks and play grounds. Too little the attention in paid to the efforts that are being made by the city to furnish healthful recreation for the Negro citizens of the city to furnish healthy recreation for them to enjoy their leisure. Tennis courts are furnished and kept up free of charge to the general public; a community center with paid attendees and indoor facilities; a public park on the North Dallas park also; two other parks are provided in other parts of the city and last but not least the swimming pool in the city to be found in few other cities of the site of Dallas in any other city. Reports of the recent meeting of the Texas Federation of Women's clubs show that the interest in that work among the women of Texas has advanced to the point that it is no longer a matter of probability. It has grown to the size of an institution and its performances are to be respected by the women of Texas. The $2,000 was raised for payment on the home for delinquent girls which was proposed at its meeting three years ago. This is good. It shows that the development of the women of our group in Texas to the point of being able to cooperate effectively for a common cause has proceeded even more rapidly than a few years ago would have been possible. We have completed this project and go from it to something larger. There is no way of determining for the benefit of the general public of the amount of expense it will take to furnishings of this sort of facilities for us. Much money is required to keep and it is necessary that we do all in our power to make it apparent that the expenditure is But there is a word to be said of local clubs which are parts of this Federation in regard to their ability to serve their communities in the best way. So many of them, do not affiliate in an energetic way with the central body. They are not represented in its councils and annual meetings. Therefore they lose just so much of the inspiration and help that would otherwise come to them. Then too, there is the determination on the part of some of them to attempt to duplicate in the cities in which they exist, the program of the parent body. This is not to be hinder but hinder the progress of the parentbody by robbing it of their help which is vitally necessary to the completion of a worthy program. It should be true that every pastor and leader of the community should have guidance and direction to patronize these places to the extent of their ability. They should become aware of the importance of the amusement of the city. And where it has been found necessary to take this step, in the case of the swimming pool, this fee should be paid gladly. If the public does not need any the need for the necessity of the wonderson on the part of those who have the obligation of attending the pool, then whether our public appreciates the efforts of the "city to keep it clean" A local club in a city where it is not the habit of the general public to give largely to the support of charitable enterprises cannot hope with much success to do anything in as large a way as the central body which has so many more sources from which to draw its support. They require thought, good business management and much finance. And the smallest part of their establishment is the purchase of them. Such a task is well nigh too great for a single club of a few members who are not so wealthy as to be able to contribute hundreds of dollars for its establishment and maintenance. The truth should be faced by members of such clubs and their policies shaped according- If it is true that we have not an vet been educated up to the age of ten, we have no character of the ancient teaching of cura as to modesty and propriety, there is no character of those of the facilities that do not meet our approval, and with a view to making them of the set that are necessary in the profession, this institution that will cause us to stay away form them and criticize them. A club which can collect only a few hundreds of dollars each year cannot hope to be highly successful in the handling of a project which requires thousands of dollars to esquire. A project that requires a large number will not result in the desired way. To so plan and attempt to operate is a waste of time and energy. The latest action in that regard is the intention to run a Negro as a candidate for the position as representative in opposition to Martin B. Madden who has been the Republican standard bearer for the past years. CORPORATIONS AND THEIR BUILDING. CORPORATIONS AND THEIR BUILDING. Some alarm for the ability of the Negro voters to stay hard by the standards of the party in view of the fact that another Negro is in the running on another ticket is being felt by party leaders. Dallas has received the announcement that our city has been chosen by the National Negro Finance Corporation for the establishment of one of its branches. The subject is heartily welcomed and we are sure that this corporation will be by coming into our community. Democratic alignment on the part of Negroes in America is to some unthinkable at this time because of the fact that party has been responsible for so much of the unfortunate legislation and disfranchisement of their group. The fact that the Democratic party has its stronghold in the South, where there are few real progres made by who have in the past launched such vitriolic attacks against the race at every opportunity gives reason enough for the feeling that there can never be any real progres made by that party in the ranks of Negro voters. It is hard to feel that even in the North where there has not been so far the same kind and amount of prejudice that has characterized the South, that there could be any real benefit to come from any alliance with that party. The feeling that all good candidates "bad" Democrats will tend to prevail for some time to come. To us, this is another example of the accuracy and system of our business, and the basis of operation that it has evolved into a corporation which we readily accept the fact that system and accuracy are two of our core assets of any concern. 20 appraisements of nothing definite in our minds, with no definite point in view we have, and consequently without these capabilities a system we have no goal to reach and consequently without these capabilities that there can evolve any business which can claim for itself any magnitude or financial But the continuation of efforts along the lines indicated by this latest move of that party in the North will do much to change that attitude. It is a fact that the Negroes of this country are coming to a realization of the fact that men and not parties are the things to be studied and relied upon. And the willingness of any party to give more recognition to the race in the affairs of the party will result in more of good than can now be said. This is truly an era of finances, when all of the activities of our business will be shaped by the spirit of becoming a potent factor in the great financial scheme of our industry. Individual effort are placing all of their energies in that direct financial assistance of the financial scheme of our community in no small job. The attainment of a number of objectives with number of activities or individuals should be encouraged to support the support from the public at large for the advancement and development of the business. We need the support of all of the features necessary Those who contend that there should be a division of the voting strength of the race between parties will no doubt have their desires fulfilled before they are aware of it. It can be confidently expected that in this campaign in Illinois, in spite of the fact that all who think, know that the nomination of a Negro for the position now held by Madden is only a move for the division of the vote in that section, there will be many who will vote for Dickerson, the nominee for purely racial reasons. And that is perfectly natural. And, there can be no condemnation of them for this action. The time must come in our political life when we will think that we are in a position to act as for the actual benefit that the use of our suffrage in the way in which it is used will bring. If it is more beneficial for our group in the North to vote the Democratic ticket, if it brings to them more of benefit than the voting of the Republican why is it unthinkable that they should vote it?
