Dickson made a statement to the effect that last year, the $4100 collected for the maintenance of the orphanage, only $2000 was contributed by Negroes. He also said that the $4000 collected in Dallas, during the past three weeks period, $4000 has been contributed by white church congregations, while only $200 has come in from all sources among Negroes. In concluding these statements, Rev. Dickson made the following significant statement: "It seems that Negro Christian confine all of their services to these unfortunate children to pray always pray loudly for them, but that is about all that they do." And the matter of orphan children is not the only thing in the world that is not true. It is a spirit and set mosey. It is a pitiful truth, but it is a truth neverless. We talk loudly, pray much, and act but little. We seem to be willing to confine our desire to hope and to believe that we will come or stay away. Such a fact shows little racial pride and a smaller amount of progress toward the point of consciousness. phan children of Texas convicts us of a lack of the very things which we are forever boasting that we have acquired—the ability to think in terms of the needed fundamentals of race building, and to carry out that thinking by means of the law. We are Texas, the case would be reversed. Negroes should contribute the greater amount of the money necessary to maintain them, and the incidentals should be contributed by others. Thus only will we be able to truthfully prove, not merely to prove, that we are Texas. It is reported that at a meeting in regregation, by segregating themselves or members of the race held between students, three Negro colleges were whenever occasion arose; and in proof of this fact pointed three Negro colleges of the same city, the discussion arises as to the location in a section of the city where all of its customers would of necessity be Negrees, and placed signs outside premises for Negrees. One of the white students took the position of Negrees designating one door for whites and another for Negrees. in reported that at a meeting in a white college in a Southern city and three Negro colleges of the same university, I was asked to justice of equal educational opportunities for Negroes. One of the Negroes that the Negro should not have heard that the Negro should not have heard the response of the Negro. I gave a paper for a debate, stating his reason for his response. When he answered, he replied, "I did not hear of his argument." He replied, "I into the subject, I found I was wholly mistaken. My views are completely changed and I cannot claim that the same sort of educational opportunities I have received should be allowed." Not only that I thought we ought to do something about this matter. A great many people still think as I know. Let's go to work and get the latter over to the park POLITICS AS IT SHOULD BE PLAYED Thus is the interpersonal work making progress in the South. It is given problem of prejudice to be thought out and solved, not only by the older members of both races but among students who thought of the nation. This of course, the opportunity is given opportunity in their minds to just so will many others at age 18 opportunity for the presentation of the real rather than the superficial and more questionable that it is. Good students must come to the white students of all ages. But on the part of the Negro there must come just one such an awakening that the opportunities for intelligent creature they will be asked upon. For the creature they will be asked questions as to what they really want, what should be their status in the nation. And upon their answers they will have those statements will be made. A careful start will be made. A good probability will be change of mind in regard to the reality of the average Negro student's questions as these, primarily to the fact that he should have opportunities and to think of them without the circumstances which surround him. to change this condition, at least as far as they are able, by actually picking a ticket and campaigning for it with the express understanding that no worker was to receive any remuneration for his service. It was a ticket, and this self-record in its service to the Negroes of the city to which leaders of thought could point with pride and upon which they could base their arguments for its further support. They did this. And whether this ticket wins or not, these leaders have guaranteed that the respect of members of the other race for the group. They have also done another thing. They have guaranteed for themselves and other members of the race opportunity to receive a more respectful hearing on any issue that they have been possible under other circumstances. Too much credit cannot be given for this sort of action. And the same sort of procedure might well become the rule rather than the exception in our political action everywhere. Men are not the race group that are accrued from political participation, then those who serve politically must serve with a view to making these benefits possible. The benefits must come after the service, and money should have no place in it. The race group in Dallas. The Express feels that in the doing of it, the race has been benefited more than can now be known. of the group generally give little room for the belief that there is no clear view of what should be their stance that will be demanded in time to come. If there is no believed need to indulge in thought everywhere to begin to understand the process for the service and to see it to that opportunity America as they affect the Negro community and to see to it that opportunity is given for the discussion of these issues by student groups everywhere. Church houses are worth the spony that is put into them only as a real service to humanity issues forth. Those who are not willing to take care of their own need not that they will have any more interest in them. Real man never big for a chance. They make of what they have, the things that they want. When this piece is read, the returns will have been published and probably the officials will have been definitely chosen. But whatever the outcome, the campaign will have been true; members of our race, in this campaign, have played the game on a high plane. They have come as near as possible to guaranteeing to themselves the respect of those whom they have supported because of the fact that they are members of our race. They have refused to accept pay for their support of those whom they have backed to win. It is good that this is so, and whether the ticket supported by the majority of them wind or loses, they have maintained their self-respect and have seemed to consider their suffrage as the sacred right of those who like them least must give their credit for this fact. Now, I am off for a trip down the Main Road. I have been to the Mary McLeod Bethune, one of the great women of the age now on us. It is demonstrating how I was the thing that must count. She is just busy all the time and I think she was She was the first story of how she went to this place with just $1.60, and faith in God for this and before the school of gifts and programs for girls and believe me she won't be here. She was in the city and she was in the town of the city. She was not in the town of the great institutions of the country with property worth half a million. She was very good at the work of this genius. Not long ago, the young lady became grown and married. She was born in the Dayton-Cadillac Town, Condomines, Collegiate Institute for the school of the school of the world, and then they call it the world-think they call it the school of the world. She was the one of the world's most famous men of the year. She was the pleasures of meeting many of her friends and the great women of the year. She was the most beautiful woman in the world, and the most beautiful female. The fact is it is This institution trains its students well in morals, manners and handicraft and there is not better behaved set of students in the United States, not one of whom.
