GILMETL, TEXAS May 16-1955 Editor or the Dallas Express,
Dear Mr.-Will you please give
apices in your paper for a word from
the oil field band relative to some
differences that have appeared in
some Lodge reports?
It has been my privilege and my pleasure to live in the jurisdiction of the Grand United Order of Odd Fellow of Texas for more than 25 years. I am the organizer and promoter of Comic Lodge 234, one of the greatest and one of the best local lodgers among Odd Fellows in Texas. It is the Banner lodge. I have had everything there to be given in the way of degree in Odd Fellowship and I have been related to over his growth and prosperity there. I am sure he will be here to guide to all your attention the Grand United Order of Odd Fellows, to what I regard as a great blunder.
Enabling the New Building
Some months ago, when we were entering our new building, that was expected by the jurisdiction forth-

brother Grand Master in the faith
for performance of his duty, we went
into that new building with glowing
rejuvenation. The grand Master gave
the District Grand Master the
right of his faithful secretary. Prof.

Perd. Hiddle made a statement in comparing the strength of the Odds Index to the current of the Odds Index, as well as that of the odd Fellows, had more cash money than any of the other members of the Committee. He said and was the strongest "he said that he did not care to advertise but was going for the opportunity to show the growth and success of the group. He said that they did not intend to have any money to give to them. He followed as against others, rather, but said some of these.

The affair, however, has raised the question of whether Negroes in the state have a legal right to ride in the buses with the white people.
Says the Nena and Obseyer of this city, "There is no need of having a ticket for the bus, because about the same time, the police and the police of the city are expressed in the laws of this state and other states requires commendations for Negroes. days were boasting of their finance, and of their strength and about how rich they were, etc." He made the argument so very strong that I became somewhat alarmed over the financial report that was made to the public. In considering this report I realized that Prof. Riddle or the secretary-of-State had made a big blunder.
I read in the Jafzar Express of the Journal of the Journal of the Royal Society from the Knights of Pythias, headed, "311 King." This was a statement of assets and liabilities as well as the department of Justice and the office of the Minister of Justice, and the notes under Inverness Commissional laws. These statements are sworn to, signed and filed in the court of court. The document heاسed, this order, is compelled to give the truth when dealing with the Inverness Commission, and the Department as they are, sworn-statements.

On entering our new building at Houston, Prof. Riddlein his speech on Financial Report, in telling of the strength and growth of the Jafzar Office, I said, "31440000 in Real Estate," when the sworn report "Told me" Austin Shows $291,021.17 in Real Estate would, like to know why this difference and where is that $58,478.87 Prof. Riddle may be able to explain it, but the public wants to explain the new building was $358,560.00 in Real Estate.
We still rejected and were taken off our feet and yet when we go to the department of Finance, we found the Jafzar Office in 1983. There is a difference, too much different to be hurled to the public. To be jovial and Jolly when $59,

NEGRO AND WHITE-OIL
WORKERS CLASH
BILLORADO ARE May 15-As result of white oil field workers attempting to drive Negro workers away Tuesday night one Negro and two white men are dead and eight whites are seriously wounded. It is said the trouble broke out when 500 whites marched upon a small negro camp working on the Sand and pipe line being laid from the field to the Mississippi river. It is said that there were less than 50 Negroes in the camp.
The whites are reported to have requested the foreman to discharge the Negro workers and have them move out. He is said to have finally exceeded to the demands of the white workers, promising to have the Negroes shipped away the next day. The whites seem to doubt the sincerity of the foreman's promise and under cover of darkness stormed the Negro camp. A pitched battle ensued in which several hundred shots were exchanged. The Negroes finally sought refuge in the negroes' woods. Countly officials came upon the scene. It is said, and finally scattered the combants. The battle lasted less than an hour. It is said
UNIQUE HOUSING EXPERIMENT
IN PHILADELPHIA
1931 A DEPTHA, Pa. Max. 16.
That it is possible to make improvement even under the worst housing conditions, has been proved by a unique housing experiment which has been worked out by Mr. Lens, Trent Gordon for the department of Public Welfare of the City of Wiltshire.
The Secretary of the Armstrong Association. On a little street in South Philadelphia, where the house is in condition, are highly unfavorable, the landlords have been persuaded to make general repairs. The inducement for this was the promise to the landlords from the city that it would make special improvements in the street without raising the taxes.
Neighborhood Club
The American Association has formed a neighborhood Club of all the tenants of the street, and has taught them to beautify the interior of their humble apartments. The use of inexpensive curtains, lower boxes, and the like. A donation of plants has been obtained from the City Horticultural Department. Thus, for the first time, landlords, tenants, a municipal department, and a private agency have cooperated to improve the quality of the street. While this seems almost hopeless, while this effort does not produce new houses, it does serve to check some of the reals growing out of conditions as they are.

He did not explain why he did not explain how he would like to know why this $166.93 is not to be known. He did not explain how he did not explain to be on interest—it has no business in the bank without drawing interest. Why, he did not give the information. Why, he did not pay when you have the money to pay them. Why, he did not inform him to the people about their money when it is justly due them? We do not know how to tell the people we have held our peace as long as we can afford to hold it on things to us. We do not know how to do things to us. We do not know to deal and no accord.
I am trying to get information for the public as we, being asked, do not know if we have the money and if claims are regular, why should they be so important? We do not know if we have the money as is shown in this report. I am simply dealing with these figures in print. There is a flowstone and a difference in the calculating of this interest. If he does not know the figure for if he does any knowledge of the figures, I am asking for a full explanation to be made of this information. He is a publicเวลา 20 and should be informed.

BOLEY DENIES SEGRE-
GATION OF WHITES
NEW YORK, May 16—The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, 49 Fifth Avenue, has received and made public today a letter from colored citizens, including those who have been in town, denying reports published in a local white paper to the effect that colored people had warned white men to stay out of the town after dark.
The report was item, which the color- and-people object to stated that there was a sign across the main street of "Boley, inscribed, "White Man, Don't Let The Sun Set on the Town." The report was sent out to prejudice the case they have taken to court involving denial of their registration rights. The colored people assert however that, such signs of disrespecting the禁令 in any neighboring white town of Pennsylvania, the people have made a mistake, intending to advise the colored man not to let the sun go down on him in Pennsylvania, when he said what he did about the sun, "I am going to be one of the 'Proch 15 to 25 white men and women-visit Belyer daily and sleep in our hotels, eat at our tables and buy from our grocery stores and are treated like any other home-visit." The report was one white man to board in our town three weeks as he gained 13 pounds, went away and stayed two weeks and lost 5 pounds, and we do not believe that any white men will tell you such a thing if false.
The spirit and will of the young people at Hampton, Institute are also greater than ever.
The Rev. Henry Wilder, Foots of the Church of Hampton Institute, and a group of Hampton Institute- and Penn School on AI, Helena Island, R.C., described the "Prissell" Memorial Community House, which was recently dedicated at the Penn School, Mr. Foots of the Church of Hampton, Inc., and has been made to the extension of the Penn School, ideas through out St. Helena Island by the interest and activity of the late Dr. Holly R. Prissell, who was principal of the Institute. In 1893 until his death in 1917,
"The Penn School," said Mr. Foots of the Church of Hampton Institute, the influence of Hampton Institute whose graduates have applied intensively on St. Helena Island the principles of Hampton. This school was established in the most interesting education.
The teachers there were giving themselves on small, small, for the good of the people.

THE DALLAS EXPRESS, DALLAS, TEXAS, SATURDAY, MAY 16, 1925.
Colored Auditor, Department of Quality
There was a slight possible comment after the review and announcement against immediately following it. The colored persons in the balcony arose and without any disorder left the auditorium. Some tried to get a refund of their money at the box office, it was held. Because of the disruption of the plane, the program was concluded by orchestral selection by the United States Marine band.
Henry L. Grant, executive secretary of the Neuro Musicians Association, said the program was designed to show to an international audience the development of the spirit of America through song and story, and that he regarded the setting arrangement as an entry to the spirit and intent of the presentation.
Ticker Seller Makes Statement
Edward D. Robert, who would the tickets for the performance made the following statement.
"Following the training of any 16 years' experience in selling tickets for all kinds of affairs," I sold tickets in the right to white persons and on the left to colored. I received no orders concerning this arrangement whatever.
Money to be refunded
"The price of the tickets in the Negro section ranged from 50 cents to $0.00 with more than $1.00 ticketing being sold." On the night of the performance I was selling ticket at the auditorium and Supply of $1.00 tickets became exhausted. Then upon advice of Mrs. Campbell I sold stamped tickets in the first nine rows 50 cents area for $1.00. Soon I began to receive complaints from some of the colored persons that they had paid $1.00 for a 50 cent sent. Whereupon, still under orders, I refunded to each one who complained the difference in price or 50 cents. I continued this practice until the concert began.
"After I thought the concert had been over, I began to flock about my seat. I was back to Them. Not knowing the gran had been cancelled I was not able to perform their request for their tickets. If I had known that the Narcotrophs had acted differently, it was not possible. I really learned what has happened."
"At the plan of the performance, Campbell to refund the money to the theater," said Wednesday — at the Washington auditorium — that the cancelled portion of the program was presented Wednesday afternoon through Friday.

Were it true that the survey committee, which has recently completed the first Negro housing survey in the City of Dallas, had only gathered factions on the conditions under which the city would allow the housing available, it would have amply justified its existence and paid a large return on the time and money invested in it. But it has gone some further. It has made that information available to the city officials and the business movement to interst the city officials and those business men who have charge of the housing of all of Dallas in an effort to see to it that Dallas is really made a city beautiful by the improvement of the conditions under which the man-made city is built.

There is another aspect of the question which makes the effort more than ordinarily valuable. It is the fact that in the effort to bring all of the facts before the public, the committee, which was set in motion through the desire of the local Interactive Committee to function, has had to make a series of races in the city, has called into conference all of the white civile leagues which have had as their object, the complete segregation of Negroes and their removal from sections where, in search of better home and living conditions, they have purchased property close to white persons. It has placed the facts as found in the survey in the public domain, and reason for the making of the survey and to a certain extent the need for improvement in the general condition. ———

The result of these efforts is still to be definitely determined. But one thing is certain. The Negroes of Dallas will, for long time, be attempting to determine the full extent of the public health procedure has been to them, if nothing else is done in the matter. The fact that the findings of the survey were as they were and that they were made public as they were has caused the interest of the general public to be centred on the survey. For instance, it has always been known by the Negro public that members of their group had a desire to own homes in decent districts but that this was impossible except as they purchased near whites in districts that had already been occupied by Negroes. The Negroes wished to live close to whites, for the purpose of living close only. The survey proves this claim - false - by ample facts. It has always been known that Negroes were forced to pay a premium for homes wherever they were located. The Negroes general public till after the survey had made the facts generally known. It has been known by Negroes for a long time that the sanitary conditions surrounding the majority of the homes which they have been forced to rent along with Negroes were sanitary accommodation, lights, water, bath, etc., where they were forced to pour the wash water and other refuse into the back yards, made the sickness in the race great and the Negroes should have been and that such a condition was a menace to the general public health, but it remained for the survey

Working on the theory that every generation will produce a new generation of writers, we have a very important task to drive the truth of that fact home and to rivet the attention of the public upon it by the facts which it has given out. And so, it might be proven by a study of all of the essays that bit of good literature has to offer, and that it can produce, Opportunity, the official organ of The National Urgent Loan Bureau, the literary contests for Negro authors ever held and that they can be found in the matter of helping to be a grave condition which vitally affected the welfare of the race in this city than any other movement of recent years. It is a justification of the Interracial movement. It is a proof that there gathered during this century a great number of writers, which were given after a close examination of all of the productions gathered during this century, both national and international fame of the writers, and international fame of the writers, fides it has printed for readers some of the productions of the writers. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., May 16—It strikes me that when a book is written to write you a few lines, last week, it was in New Orleans. May I, and here?
The first of the day's deep tabes on myself, just I am still in this place. It is some other clime, hot or cold.
While in Houston, was with Dr. J. L. Chardon, says of a headlog, a physicalist and someone in this country, whose wife has been sick for sometimes, and he is attentive. He has the life we are now baby. He gives her the best attention and then he looks after his large pro-
It was the Sunday that I was there that Dr. J. R. Burdett had his anniversary, and it was just great. He has been preaching in the New York city, the church for to these many years, and is now reciting a fine building. I found a pleasure to see me of actually preaching. The Lord has told me to to the word of theological God, and I am the dying men and women, telling them to get ready for judgment.
I went out to see Houston to college, and I declare until you that Dr. J. F. Knox is doing the big work of the school. I was very much a great student of education, I tell you that it was fortunate that the Baptist Missionary and Educational convention got this great机会. I was the only one to be in the work. He is teaching our young people to think. He is teaching them true manhood and womanhood. Right is the life of the people who have been for many years. I did not know that the barbore-shop business was such a big business until I came in on course. I noted how to go to all an "Bob" manager of the Organ Barber shop, the largest of the most operated and owned by the people.
That means the two-periods of something like that, bookkeeper in fact it is a business down to a selence, which has been a long-term job. It is a business down to a life of every barber, and from which the pay roll is madeup. He has his private office and everything he works. He is a great family of men and a pro-Prairie avenue, and 115 Miami Street, and both are front entrances.
I have told you about the world of the world of Mr. Smith on street sales. In the year of the first year, he became I again stepped into the office of Secretary C. Eldsace and McGruder are working together. Prof. McGruder is giving his entire time to this work. I want to here congratulate him and at the same time congratulate the order. I shall have even more to say about it later. Look out for what I may have to say.
am sure you want to know more about Grand Chancellor W. B. Willis and the things he hath done since wrote to you from Texas last year. The Texas Grand Leader of Knight and the State of the country have a refined polished Christian gentleman at the head, and a business man at that. He is just a leader of men, and one of the best in the country saying nothing about race or race.
It would be out of the question for me to tell you all about Houston so well let us go, and tell you that I get there for Beaumont, Texas, another great big place, and a place where my people are doing things I visited the Texas. What was the best time to start Arlington with his wife hence I didn't get to see them. I did have the pleasure of seeing Mrs. C. B. Charlton, and she excused me from spending a day at her home. Pans are of the opinion that the management of the Park Theatre bouts will do well to improve the ring. In order to forestall serious damage to the fighters. The ropes are too black and the supports are not steering enough to bear the weight of the fighters. Three spills on last Monday night provided the truth of this.
The main event was very ably and efficiently referred by Pat Brown, middleweight champion, Jie Jie, wrestler of the world. He has met and defeated all men of his weight and some of the light-flies as well. He has just come from Mexican territory after a wholly victorious tour. We hope to see more of him as he proved a determined and very satisfactory referent.
