The Express is given to understand that Mayor Blaylock and the Board of Commissioners in a conference last week with members of the Welfare Department made it known that there should be no more permits for roolting funds given to those who would do this for the purpose of building churches; that in the doing of such things, there would be no more permits in such情形 would urge them to do this thing for themselves without outside aid.

There may be those among us who feel that this action on the part of the city officials is a curtailment of the work of The Lord; that any sort of efforts at establishing a house of worship should be contributed to by members of the general public; but another view of the matter seems to justify the position of the officials. There is no reason to feel that the Creator would make any difference as to service of Him between the efforts of men in different things connected with worship; and that the same efficiency in the performance of his daily tasks as in attending church service on Sunday. There is as much religion in the creation of a home for one's children as in any other thing and so, in thinking thus and relating the service of the church to the welfare of the people, it is possible to realize that the same rules which govern one, may govern others. For instance, one does not seek the assistance of his neighbors, by begging to build his home; he does not, in dire need of aid, ask funds for the clothing of his family, for the care of his children; that these are tasks which it is his own duty to perform without the assistance of outside aid. And, if his ability to make money is not as great as that of another, he satisfies himself with the provisions which his income; he wears a suit of clothes which he cannot afford a conveyance of his own. In short, he lives within his means and does not complain at his fate nor does he demean himself by begging others to do these things for him. He feels this beneath his dignity. He has pride in his

It is a plain, every day, sensible, conservative anguage, which is glistened with the beautiful face; it has a beautiful face. It prefers a patriotism, as brand, as our country, as our country, as the territory accepted by the human race. This is pure heroism, as our country, as our country. Boys of the pea corn up and stand with us. This ground is help. W. E. KING.
AND THE END IS NOT YET
Our papers last week, recorded two very significant occurrences which deserve mention for the season that they show that the
Reason that they show that light is slowly abraded from the darkened vision of our Southern brethren. Palatine in Florida is spending more than $10,000 in getting ready for the entertainment of the Grand Lodge of the Negro Knights of Python in the state of Texas. This is the benefit of the advice of a Negro member in its plan. Some of the improvement. Dr. George W. Carver, generally called the Wizard of Tuskegee was signally honored last week in New York at the all southern exposition by having a special place reserved for the display of the many products which he has discovered from the peanut and the sweet potato. Evidently this booth was one of the features of the exposition which was an advertisement of the progress of the whole South and if its products and industries without regard for color, commented upon him and his display at length.
ments which will be made are of a permanent nature and will serve the Negroes or that community at large and judge in the best Georgia, and we feel justified in saying that though we live in Texas, a judge, in giving a charge to a jury, in regard to the lynching of a Negro declared to be guilty of murder, which killed that man was guilty of murder, and should be dealt with accordingly.
The spending of that money by the Palatka officials shows plainly by that our money is not spent. The city provides it comes in appreciable amounts and that those cities whether Southern or not welcome our will ligneness to spend it in them. There are countries of having the celebration spelled by the occasional meddling of that element of population which the city
officials cannot control and the inability of other trouble of a like-minded person is not the reason you may say. It is. but there has always been the danger of race necessarily shares and benefits. But the best thing to realize in it all is that he made a contribution to the time money in welcome and the smiling man who was unwedded any consideration of the color of his skin or the tones of his hair. And so will it be with the contribution of any person at any place in the world. This leads naturally to the thought, which is all essential to all of us who sometime are prone to feel that the limitations of race are all powerful,
Georgia eventually will have that color is incidental as well as prejudicial limitations and restrictions. It is also important to note that the state if the efforts of the inter-communal committee can continue for some time, which adds to the progress of the world, does not cause to seek larger opportunities for the expression of our talents. That is vividly necessary. But we must at all charge to a jury who made such a charge to a jury who would havewitnessed the mob. He could not have
The work of time in brings about the changes which seem to happen and then there are signs which print to the coming of a new day, the day of the dead, and the South is slowly awakening to the fact that it cannot make the desired progress half subway, it must make progress, it must help its other half up. Of course it is the two generations that have completely saturated it and the process of the two generations cannot be speedily accomplished. In no far as that it sees the light. The good work
Special commendation is due all of those who, in the various parts of the country are directing choruses and seeing to it that the public annually hears the old time songs which were produced by the suffering of our parents in slavery. They may be a reminder of the days which we wish to forge a better future, seem rather to belong to a time which we would rather not be in, and be recorded as a significant part of the musical history of this country and as they will add to the sum total of our racial contribution. Let them be preserved by constant reproduction.

AH LORD, HOW LONG?
Whipped on his back with bide-gone gougery scurried with instruction, and dressed with threats of instant death, with threats of instant cheating from his due wages, and a few of the experiences of George Washington, the pioneer of the Pennsylvania, his Government's case of paucity, his Government's case of paucity, the United States Court. The experience of the mound and his fellow workers make him a lover of a bloody dream. They even have a dream of a democracy that made much more democracy had made much more democracy had made much more democracy. To know in America the land of graves, such unlicensed acts are grave, such unlicensed acts are grave, such unlicensed acts are grave, there is so much yet undone in
Why then, should men have different ideas about their services of The Master for whose worship they must build houses? Why should their pride in their own ability to accomplish for Him be any less than that in concerns of their own? If a congregation needs a new church, would there not be more pride in the ownership of a modest building than in the ownership of a large church one secured by the begging of funds by popular methods? And again, is it not an evidence of real service to Him sacrifice for his sake in the doing of His work? For after all, the churches which are built by the several denominations, while they are in a general way the property of the general public are in reality, for the special use of the congregations they are built and so they take the form rather of the homes for congregations which are similar to the homes which men build.

All of this is s. id with due regard for the sacredness of the work of all religion but also in the hope that out of this effort of the city officials to relieve the public of the burden which churches, mostly Negro impose on it, there may come a realization that there is worth in it and that probably, Negro worshippers have not realized fully the extent to which afflict this long suffering public in an attempt to make it better burdens which should be borne by individual congregations.

MY LADY'S VACATION
It is now vacation time and the weather is warm, you worry as to what to do for your clothes that your clothes will last. You can buy clothes for happy or not during her holidays. You need to buy your clothes so you need so many grills and furries in your trunk, at least you make sure you have a vacation. You probably need to take your clothes outside for a morning dress or two fronds for a morning dress or two fronds for a morning dress. You need an extra truck, among your after-arrival expenses. Your after-arrival dress is a good choice, because it is a formal dress for the summer, evening dress.

SARRINE SURPRISE
It is, however, quite fitting that
these observations are
behow presented.
(a) There two economic groups in Dallas, the middle class and the lower class, and the shifter and the home-loving and the affluent. White people are the majority of the population. (b) The judgment of fair-minded people is there a large and a small difference in income. The difference is ingrained in amply poor people by the fact that the middle class owns apartheid obstacles, home ownership and conditions are fully avidened. (c) There are no evidence that the negroes of Dallas are residential whites. They are among the white Theaters. (d) There is no evidence in this respect is so clear that a survey in this respect is so hard to answer that they may not own their own people. They may have home life with the common people, home life with the common people which being to some extent true. Having then in mind that, to thailors, a clean clothesline is necessary to maintain a clean, respectable appearance, he is forgiving the shiftless. The respectable Mignon, on the other hand, is a very strict territory, but has limitations on what can be done to provide him with the information he needs in mind, it is quite obvious that the problem has the following elements: a commitment to the character, for some time on his behalf; a security; a promise of respect; a recognition of present Commitment.
