P.—The Universal Negro Improvement Association could properly be called the Universal Negro-Abusting Association. Judging from the talk of the principal speakers of that fast-falling organization, who paid the customary 15 cent for the privilege of hearing themselves abused, and about two dozen white men, members of the Anglo-Saxon Club, included John Powell and Major Earnell C. Cox, two racial purity fancies composed the audience. It was said that the Anglo-Saxon Club was represented as a order to show its own importance to their allies, the U.S.A., with whom they are linked in the "back to Africa" movement. John Powell was the first to speak of his talk was not, except to the Garvey-filers, except to the Garvey-filers. Dances morning, noon and night, at Convention Hall, in parke Rube Foster's American Giants and the Kansas City Monarchs had been brought down as a special attraction; a parade with floats decorated lavishly and beautifully which stretched a mile through the town was led by the crack 16th Calvary Bank, which had been transported from P. Hunchch, Arizona by the State League. In fact it was Oklahoma as well as Tulsa which acted as hosts, the State Business League under the leadership of Rector Roscoe Dunkey of the Mines Research, Oklahoma City and T. J. Elliott, merchant prince of Muskogee, functioning brilliantly with its four queens. Miss Tulsa, Miss Muskogee, Miss Tulsa, Miss Muskogee and Miss Oklahoma City are gracing with roars and beasts and levellers. After the letter the speaker turned in the memo into a farewell message. The was opposed to the National Association of Colorized People whom he accounted of typing the letter. He despaired and hates by teaching emancipation and segregation. The most common way of founding the plot of four years ago when the resulting government was established is the "New City of Tula. Every courtesy was extended the delegations. Hall and and Polman are committed to the public service and to the best of them. It is the best of all that they have done. The barristers which cast their delegates who did not come had their own way. The barristers who had been put on it, said the Mayor, "there'll be no more real trouble than they have done." The mayor, who followed him, said it was a bit on the other hand. The mayor, who had the same country as Tula, followed him with a white and white as ashamed of what occurr. Evidently they made much that much was to be inferred from the fact that the hotel had been destroyed all the time by the ruins of the rots which completely destroyed all of the rooms brought to the minds of all of the thinking Texans, the fact that hotels are a city of the state and cities of the state are sadly lacking. In the whole of the state Texans offer to the casual visitor, the amount of comfort that it is to be offered when it is remembered that the need is more thoroughly realized when it is remembered that the nature which offer accoudoations to the average number of visitors This lack is a hindrance to the bringing of large conventions of national size to Texas cities. It makes the visits of those who might come into the state for the purpose of just "looking about for investments, few and far below the, to embarrass theுதl.r.com who happen to meet via val-de-of the better-sort in his city and it constitutes a /condition which is a disgrace to the state at large. Texans are visiting other states in larger nu. erers than ever before they have, forming contacts which they have with prove val, unable in future time and they are constantly inviting others into their state in order that they may view his great possibilities. But with no hotels in which to accurate them stations, they are to be as sad plight. Texas needs Negro hotels of the better sort. In any city which is drinking, they can be opprated at a profit. Why can they not be established soon? They are badly needed. To view the new Negro Tulsa to have greater faith in the ability of men to rise on stepping stones of their dead selves to higher things. They have new buildings better than those destroyed in the fire which follow the riots. They have business home where pretentious they had not courage, vision, man- bility and perseverance. If they had not been able to form the body of the sort of opposition, which they forset, who could those of us become allies, if we could but have the faith, will and will be ourselves? The National Business League made in this year this year. It has not been long, but it has been two years. It has never been to Texas and not for it to actually bend for it already凑凑. Texas is more able to take care of it than Oklahoma. It has more success in the fight for bid for the 1957, most. It could come to Colorado. Queen of the world. There was one way in which those who had charge of the recently closed meeting of the National Negro Business League showed progress over the meeting of last year it was in the way in which all of the numbers on the program were carried out. No speaker was forced to "have his speech read into the minute" as has been the case in former times and all of the meetings were carried out on scheduled time regardless of what other attractions were in business. Neither was it great, as in some former times, that a great deal of the time was taken in calling on first one and then another of "the great men" for an expression which consumed the time. The Negro Business League will become the tremendous power for good in the development of Negro concerns that it should be. The time has past for the recounting of more personal experiences in business and the ordinary advertising of individual successes. This is a day of specialization in cooperative effort and the study of modern methods which have contributed to the business and the preparation for its steady growth. Evidence is given in a report of the meeting which shows that it is in the minds of the officials of the league to make the talks of specialists in various times of business to be held. The league therefore have characterized the whole program. Accounting systems will be discussed by men who know. Sales management will be outlined by men who have had experience in selling certain known commodities; advertising specialists with many years of experience will be involved; and managers will be more of the school type than of the sort which they now are. The Express believes that this will make of the league a much more beneficial meeting than it formerly has. It will draw more of the men of vision who desires to see their concerns continue to grow and in giving them the tools they need. The league will be in a real large way and ask knowledge of the methods which they used, a FRAER guarantee of success will be theirs. Another improvement which was mentioned but not the focus of the meeting is the organization of league in all of the larger cities of the several states and of the states themselves into real active business league would be chosen. It is understood that plans for the actual doing of this are under way and that they will be made in the coming year. Work is to be done in the coming year in some of the states which have shown marked interest in their own organization. This also will mean increased program in the matter of organization as well as the creation of more interest in Negro business ventures and it will make for the promotion of the league as an organization with a definite purpose. When viewed from all angles, this meeting of the League was a decided success and it showed improvement over other meetings. It is only to be hoped that the plans of improvement mentioned will be carried out to the letter and that in the coming years, it will begin 'to function' as a governing body. This will be the economic development of the concern of the race. THE SPEECH OF DR. MOTON you may be those who feel that the life of Dr. Mozart do not have the proper ripe indulgence but the spirit of racial indulgence that they should be. But either those pearl-headed him speak or his speeches on another from the one which he: be the formal opening of the National Hall of Fame, the negotiation of white citizens, who were a: "We know that this is a white man we are entitled to all of the benefit affords." We are told of the many expressions on that occasion to a crowd of more persons in a city a mound famous for the role of a few years ago. Odin Mozart very likely. They were a taint of dogmatism and progressive tendencies, and not a politician or a professional man to many who had never heard anything different of him to that who from the pens of those who had criticely for his "spinelessness." There may be those who feel that the tone of the speeches of Moïse. Do not hoten with the proper ring and that they are unhallowed by the spirit of independence and and that they are not the ones who never heard him speak or his speeches on other occasions have been different from the one which: he delivered in Tahsas at the formal opening of the National Negro Institutes, and at the delegation of white citizenship, who were a part of the audience: "We know that this is a white man's country and that we are entitled to all of the benefits which its constituency affords." But just one of the many expressions which he made on that occasion to a crowd of more than three thousand persons in a city made "famous throughout" the world for the riots of a few years ago. Other expressions which he made without a hint of domination and progressive without a hint of bitterness that was noticeable. This at least is true; they gave to many who had never heard him - before a vastly different idea of him to that which they had never heard - and had criticized him most bitterly for his "spitefulness." JIM CROW AND THE: AUTOMOBILE It is reported that on a certain train in Teze a few days ago, as usual the conductor was seated in the "Jim Crow" coach, where he had taken charge if "his" seat from which he usually bats all Negro passengers without regard to the crowded condition of the half coach that the law allows them. Another "gentleman" of Nordie extraction was conversing with him and they were remarking up the fact that less Negroes were riding the train than former time. The conductor had just remarked upon the security of Negro travel. The other spoke of good roads and both looked out on the liar which ran partly up to the tracks and saw a small automobile towards the N-groves on their way to a convention to which it was expected that his railroad would have carried them. Said the conductor that is the way that they are showing their dislike to the "Jim Crow" car law. The other agreed with him. Of course, on such conversation will not necessarily result in any modification of this obnoxious statute, but if it can happen that on all of the railroads of the south, the travel can be learned by the automobile, soon it will happen that attention will be paid to the reason for it and action will result. That nothing has been done before in regard to this most abominable condition is due to the fact that the governor themselves have not yet willing to go to the public. The state's federal government has also been in the states which they like to also choose before the leading officials of the competing railroads and boycott those which made least accommodation for them and patronize those which made most for them. Economic pressure will bring results in almost any condition which maintains in America, thanks to the average American love of the almost dollar. The above mentioned incident proves that the comparatively low New Yorkers who are also attached the notion of one conductor by their use of them in preference to the traina. It can happen that this same thing can be done in other ways. It is well worth the careful study of the leaders of Negro movements all over the south. Through upheavals and revolutions bring suffering of some sort in their wake they also suffer in progress and new thought. In our institutions during the past year we have seen the rise of the blacks. These have been upheavals in our schools, our churches and our fraternities and they have got something. But THE DALLAS EXPRESS, DALLAS, TEXAS, SATURDAY, AUGUST 20, 1925 TID--BITS they all have been beneficial in that they have opened up new lines of thought in the minds of the directing heads of these concerns which will be seen in changed policies which will be more progressive. That Marcus Garvey would not be wanted in Liberia is evidenced by the statement of one of the ministers of that country who visited America recently. That is rather unnatural if the statements of Garvey himself have been true. Garvey, the spectacular is being proven to be rather mendacious as well as vindictory and there can be no doubt but that, though his theories had much that was progressive in them, his methods of procedure were the direct reason for his undoing. Dallas will soon begin the paving of nearly a half dozen streets through Negro residential sections. These improvements will add to the value of property and do more to improve the health and living conditions of a large number of the members of the race. This is not unusual for the members of the race. This is not unusual for the members of the race. This is not unusual for the cities of its size in the South. Such improvements as these make for contented citizens. Involution is evolution going backward. It is decadence and decay and is the twin force and natural corallory to evolution. With consistent blindness the white races of Europe and the world have ignored this basic natural law which makes involution necessary if there is no evolution. When India's starved and exploited millions raised their volcans in protest against the Iron heel of Great Britain the whole white world cried "Beware of the rising tide of color. They saw evidences of evolution but could not say that this was but a reflection of the disintegration of the involution—of the white race. As Japan in her intend empire showed a military and industrial power which astonished the whole eastern world, the clarton cry of Europe was again heard and this time states that it was the dominant state. This fear was but another sign of approaching involution of the white race. Now entering China, the long sleeping place of the orient, from the mountains, becomes almost overnight a night of terror. Mold is common causes of spoilage in the coast of breadstuffs. To delay or prevent molding several precautions are worth following. Do not use the same food to make bread while it is warm. Cool it quickly, placing it on a rack or crosswise of the thin so the air can circulate freshly. When it is cool and dry, wrap each loaf in clear new wax-ed paper. Do not put fresh bread in a container with old bread. Avoid and use the breadbox once a week, and if any bread molds in it, in the mean time, always should the box well before using it again. If the outside of a loaf has begun to mold, cut away and die old the moldy section and bake the remainder of the loaf in a modern style. Not even thefees are. Read and cake are sometimes spoiled for use by driving out. Dry bread may be used in many ways but if it is needed just as bread it may be freshened. If the loaf has not been sliced, moisten it slightly, place it in a tin and bake in a moreately hot oven (350 degrees Pahrenselt) to or fifteen minutes. Rolls or parts of leaves may be freshened by putting them into a paper bag after they are moltened and heating them in the oven. If cookies or cake have been hard-and-dry, place them in a box with bread and they will quickly soften. As soon as a supply of fruit is brewed and then to see its condition. That is what two men told Loule Gross, a farmer—of this little town, when they left him standing on the corner of Fifth and Cherry Streets, Philadelphia, Wednesday night. Grass a few minutes before had handed the two strangers $1,000 with which to purchase $10,000 worth of smuggled silk. This was a new game that was sprung on the farmer. Gross met them for the first time in a cafe—a few hours before. For five hours he awaited their return and then told the police. "I went there two gentlemen in a cafe. Given told the desk, I got at the police station," said Grelou, how the they could talk. "I told me they know a man who had smuggled silk worth $10,000 and we would put in $1,000 a piece, may it and clean up." There has been a wide discussion of the for jointralty of the four parties. But as to this hour since President Coolidge has been in office "under his own name," as the saying goes there has not been an appointment of the kind in mind, declare those who are observing the trend of political events. It is maintained that President Coolidge is "stronger and more popular with the people now than he was on the day of his election. The remark of one citizen coming from Ohio is worth of " note." We have felt the President Coolidge, but, you know, faith without work is dead. President Coolidge is informed in detail of the present of public opinion so far as it affects Colorado. Official information between the public, the public can be stated in high authorities that the administration has sought the public to provide government concerning about the general and co-operation. But you don't begin to realise what a brick with a wall is the first to be cleared on official very close to the administration. Continuing, he said the Colored people. The white people are having the same kick. The present Democrat is going to be solved using strong, hard, and hard-to-solve strategies, and have proved to be so shirt in political matters. That will be the first to be solved by the public. I want to go somewhere. But there is no place to turn. And thus, the political改革 of the country is that of the public. The first of the most effective manner, continue to try the result of government. It is the most effective means of the public's government. It is the most effective means of the public's government. It is the most effective means of the public's government. It may be stated that the "powers that the" are "concerned," but they are not very much "disliked." But they are not very much "disliked." They will be disturbed by this time next year when the Government is in need of the public. They will do some things by the time that they are not being done now. It is not the thing that they do, however. That Colored people will have a higher position in national political units than higher positions in the public. Painful Example of Closed Disturbance HURONDAY, Tue. Aug. 25 (8:30) Huronda, W. Hord. ward, colored dwelling, was from his home Monday night at the court, and brutally assaulted by him. Dr. Ward responded to the call, but found no one at the given address who wanted his services. Noticing a car parkout near-the-house, he thought to get information from the occupants. He was seized at the point of a revolver and forced into the car, driven to the western part of the city, and altered and feathered. Carholic acid was poured on his back, after which he was forbied of all his belongings. Ward finally succeeded in reaching a telephone, and was brought back to the city by friends. Although Dr. Ward reported the affair to the district attorney, nothing has been done about the affairs. The daily newspapers have made no report of the affair. SOCIETY MANY MORE VOLUMES FOR WASHINGTON STUDENTS OF THE BOOKER WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL DRESS APPROPRIATELY Wasn't that curd little flower a "hornet" in your next last week? After roving, around in the dark corners where you would have been had you been in the flaps? Place you found her just when I was in the house, was it all, and was not giving you a thought. Miss Eyes is mut, however, that you and your other two "loneness" went try and recall them out of the flapper cave you such a good brushing that it will stay with you for some time. And to "cap the climax" she turned you over and over a very big one, and already "neatly done" job. Now did it say you to run him down? Lioness it is time for you to "take the air." "No Joke." Miss Eyes attended the lecture at Bethel Sunday Evening and was made to feel proud that the "very things while she had been asked" they overpobed by her great speaker. Now, 400 wont you behave? Ias Miss Eyes not told you that you had been doork worse thing when the the flaps are not afraid to speak to the club affairs because they weren't "good enough" The speakers told you all about it and while they were not in the house, they had not predicted it Miss Eyes knew it to be the truth, which is badly needed by the 400. We need more men like that around the people who are not afraid to speak with truth, and face the wrath of society. Mother-in-law at last you got what was coming to you, you magged your son's wife until she is nearly crazy then tried to pull the same "stuff" on your lady tenant who had not quite as much respect for you as did your daughter-in-law, and gave you just what you needed, a good whipping, it is not a good idea to, accuse people of stealing, you went a little too far. Miss Eyes must say though that no matter how much you needed the whipping your daughter should have helped you, and the fact that she was not dressed was not an excuse; must stirs would been have found getting into something wildly quickly had their mother been getting whipped. You have a poor excuse for a daughter. Poetry won't get it. Miss Hack filter, it takes more than a point to get another woman's sweetheart, so if you can't pull up with a better line than that you might be As a committee on Appropriate Dress for the girls of the Looker Washroom, we have been following report and recommendation. She was a member of will stop now as you are wasting time and mind composing love. Vases will do it when you're not at work trying to think up another appropriate little poem, he and his sweetheart are reading the last one you wrote. Now is your chance little Matron, for over a year you have wanted a divorce all your talk has been more diversely considered. You don't get the other night if you don't get a divorce you will prove yourself as crazy as Miss Eyes has always thought you don't know your husband went let you move your beologings, the only reason you have not left him is Because he won let you Why should you have to be so much every day that he cares nothing whatever for you. Miss Eyes knows why. You haven't left. But if you stick after the other night as a fall of the way you're have your few belongings with him a certain institution at Austin is lacking something. And to that sister who is one of the best people you know, he and his sweethearts are better to let your husband alone altogether when you do not have a long-term care of your family. When you're after him making yourself ridiculous Miss Eyes will say she is not much of a year and the time you are in the same place. I think that fact, especially since the trouble she let you into the other night and did not do a thing but pretend to be helping you when she was not doing a thing but trying to keep herself in the clear. But better let your yourself consider her your guide in using your slater as a guide is getting you in pretty deep complications. Next time you might not get off even as easy as you did this time. It is so sad that as long as Miss Eyes has been telling you, wives that it doesn't go to run after your husband after he has set his mind upon someone else, you "poor bruns" still chase them. Just leave them alone if they are merely infatuated with someone else they will finally come back to the one who means more to them and if they really care for someone else your helping and their feels won't help. Only make matters worse. They say that " experience is the best teacher, and no doubt you want to learn from experience instead of thinking Miss Eyes' advice, but she has warned you as it is up to you.
