Washington, Rhode Island, edited by Melissa, by Representative Emmanuel of the Philadelphia Tribune, author (Oliver of Brooklyn) brought forth by the Philadelphia Tribune, author (Oliver of Brooklyn) by knowing the district attorney for the State of Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania. This is his first time in the history of this great state that a Negro has been so honored. This apogeement is regarded as a truce of peace to the brilliant and aggressive young editor who has done much to stir up Pennsylvania politics and to continue to be a national heralded president of the State of Pennsylvania. E. Washington Rhodes is a native of Camden, A. C. After graduating from President College to South (a. d. C.), he entered Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, in the sophomore year. As Lincoln University from the beginning of his equestre until his graduation, Mr. Rhodes made a record in scholarship and oratory, winning numerous prizes. He won the sophomore, junior, and senior medals for oratory, managed the division of the State of Pennsylvania, and was the first of the States to have a degree in Sigma. The Inter-collegiate Dohat-ing Society. Graduating. In June 1951, he was valedictorian on class day and one of the four speakers in the conference. He was a member of the University of Pennsylvania, the first of the state of Pennsylvania to be a national heralded president.
After graduating from Lincoln University, Mr. Rhodes entered the law School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he remained two years, when he was made editor of the Philadelphia Tribune. His duties made it impossible for him to attend classes in the day that would be necessary for his property.
He entered the law school of 1960. "Perhaps," says Dr. Celler, "he is sincere and his studies at night. In December, chance an investigation might help 1926, he passed the Pennsylvania state Bar examination, and is now with Robert N. C. Nir, a former classmate at Lincoln. Mr. Rhodes is treasures of the National Negro Press Association, has not a ghost of a show of passing. Vice President of the Philadelphia branch of the Lincoln Alumni As-check gets up. In Congress and society, V-President of the Philadelphia Branch of the Business League. Trust the benefit of his black constitution. Cunningham, Ais, May a-A. N.
J.J.—According to a written statement purported to have been received by the local Metodist Ministers' Association, white, from Dr. W. W. Alexander, secretary of the Southern Inter-Racial Commission, Dr. Alexander, secretary of the Southern Inter-Racial Commission, Dr. Alexander, denies that he made any special plea for equally for the races in the South and that he denounced the Jim Crow Laws of the South. The secretary of the Inter-Racial Commission is alleged further to have charged that the newspapers of Birmingham and of the country had misquoted him.
This statement-value, as the life-
monger mentions before, is the gession
which was asked to discuss the address
of the gession. The gession does not
not carry sufficient weight with
their own interests, but they are
born from advancing resolutions
concerning the interferences of Dr. Alex-
sander.
The section of this "ministers was brought about by the address of Dr. Alexander in which he is reported to have urged more equality of the white and Colored people and to have stated the Jim Crow Laws of the South which he declared caused and perpetuated to no little degree the "social animosity which exists throughout the South.
Dr. Alexander's address was Elive, an much publicity through the white and Negro people in the city, a common community feel—the latter.

It is also the case that the American Court of Justice has been the first to issue a criminal court, held at Concord, Thomas Shankle, the father of fourteen children, was convicted of the crime of incest. The trial of case-aroused much interest through out the state because of the many revolting crimes against nature charged to the father. These conditions are so sortid and unhuman, as to be almost beyond human belief. The case was originally brought to the attention of North Carolina State Board of Utilities and Public Welfare by the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
The State Commissioner of Welfare was appointed to the court in July 1896. In July 1898 he was elected to the State of Col- lond. Lawrence A. Orley, director of Col- lond. work in the state for invex- tition and action. The beginning of this case hestered about 100 days. He was then married twice. He also had five children, and by his second wife nine children. Eight of these children are girls. The records show that from earliest childhood the father's father was a daughter of the father with an old daughter. He was a son of the father's investigation brought out in the following addition to fact, Shankle's method was to begin by swearing each child to see the father. "It's a while since I've been making a change and when some smooth talking Negro tries to talk to me, I've been trying to make change for a bill of large, a denomination, just tell him to go to the bank and get his own change." Chief Gumming said.
Monday night a Negro attempted to rob an American man who was being brought to rob an American man. When he thought some Negroes were going to rob an American man, he said, "No, no, no."
The half-witted person however was smarter than he the victim. He was not a man who had been arrested after the victim had been fleeced through the change and strong arm and arm.
He called the woman out of his pocket, and he made changes for a bill to help the supposed half wit. Then the three pled upon him took his money and ran.
An old woman who had washed clothes and worked about 100 times, and worked on the bank account and figured she would fall for his story of finding the money. She was shown a roll of bills totaling $100. She drew her money from the bank, and took a $100 for one-third interest in the roll. Then she discovered that a 11-bill was wrapped about a roll of newspaper and the money had been switched up. She found a bill of large, a denomination, just tell him to go to the bank and get his own change.
Confidence men operate on the path of the reason which is the best way to get the people of the country into their own lives.
Nothing for nothing, they will find the place of the people of the nation will find the place of the people of the nation as almost helps to even support the people of the nation.
Chief Gunnering adviser that person should never make a trade with the nation when they have thoroughly investigated them and they will not make any more. It is not to be said that you have had an opportunity to talk with some one who understands to be illusive and so that you have gained sufficient information to know the point of being a one who has done anything. These days and when some of the people of the country are in a cure shop, the careful if it was a sure shot they would stop it up to some other point.

THE DALLAS EXPRESS
has never helped the white inguards, neither has it been diagnosed by the yellow streak. It is not afflicted with the flannel mouth. It is a glute, very grey, semblable, conservative, new or prepared, which trims, no skill to catch the passing breeches, flies no doubtful flings it professes a patriotism as friend as our country. Its love of even handed justice covers all the tariffs occupied by the men and men. This is pretty big grounds, but we like on it and are proposing. Here as the pre-come up and stand with us. This ground is hot.
OUR THINKING ON SEGREGATION
A man came into the office the other day who is famed in Texas for the keenness of his vision and the accuracy of his thinking. He was discussing the question of segregation and the need of more cooperation among members of the group generally. Said he "may as well face the question squarely. Segregation is here and since it is, we need to realize that it is simply a matter of
to engage in and that when we are in support of the did participate. We should be paid for, effectively, protected, for our services. This is behind some rich realization that some of the deficiencies of the white as have come from the two effaces has placed us on for all our in Kennettville with help—to the extent that we have the legal position that some has been behind our statement.
The accumulation-of-wealth is itself will not solve the problem. It will not solve the problem more than the problem of education will. There can be no doubt but that all of them combined will have the desired effect if coupled with the firm conviction that we are as other men and that we are the better of the need for which we will claim to hope as members of a democracy. Coupled with all of our stdrings in every direction, there must be a deeprooted feeling, a tradition, a knowledge, a theory. We know that AS OF NIGHT ARE MENTHING THAT AS RUCH ARE WORTH OF THE RESPECT AND CENDIERATION WHICH IS GENERALLY ACCORDED TO MEN. The feeling does not now pass. But it is not a result of the hopeless and unfeasible benefits which are would reap the benefits which are not reap the benefits which are reap the benefits which are not changed thinking on the part of others in regard to us.
among us who have had the courage to stand up and to de-
clare that they felt themselves entitled to all of the benefits
which were the common portion of every member of a common-
wealth.
The accumulation of wealth in itself will not solve the problem
any more than the gaining of education will. There can be no
doubt but that all of them combined will have the desired effect
If coupled with the firm convection that we are, as other men
and that we are entitled to the benefits for which we claim to
hope as members of a democracy. Coupled with all of our strivings
in every direction, there must be a. deeprooted feeling, a tradition,
a knowledge that WE ARE THE EQUALS OF ANY MEN AND
THAT AS SUCH ARE WORTHY OF THE RESPECT AND CON-
SIDERATION WHICH IS GENERALLY ACCORDED TO MEN
That feeling does not now exist. But it can be developed and
must be if we would repeat the benefits which are to come from
changed thinking on the part of others in regard to us.
THE CASE OF THE KENTUCKY EDITORS
THE PULLMAN QUESTION IN THE U. S. CONGRESS
There may be those who see in purpose of the PULLMAN Congress an investigation, the wage controversy of the PULLMAN Company with Mr. Callahan, the congressional votes in the Northern states. Probably their vision is clear; probably not, but an investigation could do little to the porters who for so long have been viewed on the matter and concerned with which dispute there has been, months after months, it will be remembered that the first which waked hitter-for-five months between those who made a complaint into a lawsuit and those who would have favored the Employee Retirement Plan, the company was practically terminated by an agreement which the employees of the company were practically on the company, but in which, all of the representatives of the porters did not愈
fact that though the company has no commodity other than warehouses, it has with a capitalization of only $23.2 million and without the addition of $25.0 million, it has $145,000,000 and its dividends in stock and cash have amounted to $100,000,000. The repulsion, Geller states, that "Pulman porters have received the Pulman Company but from the Pulman Company but from the porters that 'every attempt of the porters to organize has met with an avalanche' of Pulman porters." The pulman publications have been sub-divided; Nekro porters have been sub-divided; South have been bribed to propagate disgrace against the man.
If all of the charges made by the plaintiff are still being statified, there is no reason to feel that the case of the parties and mails, made in connection with the last appellation, will not be still further improved. Certainly, there can be more improvement in well in his attempts to improve the status of these employees. If the appellation demands that the votes, but there is much of information designation demands, be unfairly that an official investigation would bring to light, and if the appellation demands that the fairness to its employees are justifiable, a little offer from

He was frightened and did not sell out the car, she heard him moving and got off. He was lying down, his shoe off. In a sound sleep. She called men in the house who had him arrested. On account of taking the boy who is taking to have been ill-lifeate was sentenced to die Gov. McLea. He thought that was a little too hard and held that whatever the house might be. He was not to be made of effort to carry out his purpose, that could be established as fact. What Are Our Young People Thinking
About Themselves?
ISIPTOB'S NOTE.—The is the beginning of a series of short essays written by recent grad- ums of Washington High School and the first of the time he helped for the reason that they give a direct insight into the manner of thinking—in his high school and because they show couldly the time he is not so much danger of, even—of their lack of thought on how they will serve the world as from the lack of sympathy of the world with their manner of thinking.
In the publication of these essays, THE EXPRESS hopes that it is performing a certain "chose of made up" of the public life in the race who are really concerned as to the future of our young people and who are reac- is thinking of the means of helping the people to live a more high-level life. It is very efficient study of their problems and their needs.
THE EXPRESS acknowledges its debt of gratitude to Prof. J. H. Hoth, the principal of The Booker Washington High School, for these manuscripts and for such comments upon each of them as my see fit to follow from week to week.
Essay Number 6 (R) (E) (H)
Since early childhood, it has been my desire to choose a vacation that will appeal to my working
spirit, and that will enable me to be helpful to my fellowmen. It has taken more than a single day of even a year for me to reach my first conclusion.
During my elementary school days I felt that the one position for me was that of a school teacher; and I worked toward this end for several years, but my efforts in that direction did not bring out any satisfaction with me. I had to designate a "not get a" in a thrill which I feel one should experience from the realization of his desires. And finally I reached the conclusion that teaching was not my calling, since I was not a student in the school, he was and was not late. As this was a well-planned, the day was helplessly growing in the dark. With the adoption of the nineteenth amendment to the United States Constitution, many fields of education have been closed to women, were opened to public use of this amendment enabled me to find myself- and after much thought I decided to become a worgon. I have found however that the new school is being built by the first year of life, having had only two years of life and one year of science (Physical). I am planning therefore to post graduate work (high school) to Latin and Chemistry in the Booker Washington School from February to June 4 of this year. In September of this year I

Deductibles By Joseph J. Hunnels.
Just as of 1987, the school reached during childhood, and the severe test of critical independent thinking that is characteristic. This period that the boy makes a man of himself and the girl evolves into womanhood. This nature is so difficult, involving a extremely growing, involving a "helpless peculiar" experience that the school has been the most responsible to grown-ups.
The adolescent's parents and most of his teachers misunderstand the nature of hisigualing and the pruranty, hinder rather than help him.
It was not any grey matter for the young women to transform children into the children of the school. In the case of a woman's determination to spend years of hard work in preparation for the development of the school, they are also working spirit and sense of real satisfaction.
One of the aspects of happiness is the selection of a position that satisfies its difficulties in its routine. It's personal and real, and the progress of the school is an important one. This young woman's vocational aspirations are based on this principle.
2—The adoption of the nineteenth amendment to the United States Constitution liberated the spirit of American Womanhood. It was this amendment that enabled the youthful writer of this essay to find herself a small hopeful that he will make the first use of the privileges guaranteed them in that document.
4—The elective system which provides a variety of subjects in order to serve the different types of individual securities represented in the first high school and other different bodies has superior merits; but, even when most efficiently administered many of our public administrations without the proper preparation for the kind of professional or vocational study in which they later wish to engage.
5—The Act of Enough Coefficient themselves should thoroughly acidize their themselves with the merits and objects of the various elective courses, so as to assist their children in making their choices. The work of "Fearful Commandor" will be infinitely more effective if this is done. Too often, as far as we know, is concerned the important matter is left entirely with the child.

There has been "muchado about the quality of loudspeakers reproduction during the last year or so, and many eminent engineers have devoted considerable time and study to the problem. Careful elec-

A tonall is not necessarily disseased because it is enlarged. Some people have Tessor tonall than others, just as some have never. Most than others, it can be said that a tonall is diseased only when its framework has become fibrous and its crypts filled with pux.
The removal of the fonall is in children is a comparatively simple procedure. In adults it is a serious proposition—and many these are who have lost their lives as a result of homorengage following a tongill operation. The tanellar atery grows out of all proportion to the other vessels of the throat and when it is severed an uncontrollable hemorrhage is very apt to follow.
The tonall should be removed in its entry—not merely clipped. Unless it is completely resected. It is likely to grow against the new method of electric consultation.

ST.JAMES A.M.E.CHURCH FLORENCE AND GOOD STREETS, MAKES EXTENSIVE PLANS TO CELEBRATE FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY AND GOLDEN REDEMPTION JUBILEE
St. James A. M. E. Church was organized in the Spring of 1876 by the Rev. W. R. Carron, in what was then called the "Melville" under a brash airborne net from the site of the present church. The building was completed in 1880 and was only one member of the Church who was present and assisted in the organization. Mother Hattie Orrie, wife of Rev. w. e. we know. She has passed her three score and ten, and yet she is active. She was a member of the Church for many years. She was a faithful member of Class No. 1, in the Sunday School and is generally in her place, and is known at church and prayer群. She was the full share of the financial affairs of the church. She was a member of the worship at the corner of Young and Evergreen Streets which was later replaced with a larger and better frame building. At Palma'srew a brick building was started and finally reached the point where the church would be a place of worship. The superstructure was finally built by Dr. R. E. Jeekin, who is at present the presiding elder of the Palma'srew District. Before the building was ever completely finished the property was sold to Dr. R. E. Jeekin, and the building was sold to Dr. W. R. Carron, living; Dr. R. Bryant, dead; A. P. Jacken, dead; E. J. Edwards, living; P. G. Hair, living; H. L. Zyrppel, dead; J. W. Millard, dead; J. E. Holmes, dead; W. J. Law, dead; M. A. Wright, dead; A. Gordon, dead; W. H. Young, dead; G. B. Young, living; J. T. S. White, dead; J. E. Edwards, living; J. P. Millard, living; G. W. Atkinson, dead; St. James A. M. E. Church was the first church to present in the ninth year of his pastorate. In constructing the building he had in mind, the waste intended to the repair of church buildings every few years, not only on the congregation but on the grounds of the church.
GAYE THE MATTER BÉRIOUS CONSIDERATION. THE WOULD COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT IT IS NOT ONLY A DUTY BUT A PRIVILEGE TO SUPPORT THE WORK OF THE CHURCHES.
1. The keeping with the well-defined policy of this Church, to serve while it is being served, a two weeks' celebration has been planned which it is hoped will serve to call attention to the progress we have made in the past half century along all essential lines and a memorial slab has been provided to permanently mark the occasion. This 50th Anniversary Golden Redemption Jubilee Slab is provided that the names of those who shall be the redeemers of St. James may live on down the years—it will be placed in the upper yestille of the Church—where thousands will gain up on it—down the years. It shall contain the names of persons, business institutions and organizations.
2. The following follows the slab is to be arranged in four divisions, as shown in diagram, reading from left to right there will be three divisions, the first is the Silver Division, with persons, organizations, business enterprises contributing from $25 to $50 will have their names inscribed in silver; the center is provided for contributions from $50 and upward and will be inscribed in gold; the right hand side will contain names of those who will be in the third section, $15 to $150 will be inscribed in gold from the lower division will contain the names of individuals who pay as much as $500. The five dollar division will be restricted to individual names, while all the other divisions are open to any business organization or individual. All know the value of this kind
This history making occasion will open Sunday morning, May 9th, with a special prayer and praise service at 5:20. At 9:10 Sunday School Jubilee rally. At 11 a. m.
The program on this night will be made up of the medical profession, trained nurses and the families of the profession. We must not say that much of the experience will be in evidence of the success of the program. The program will be in evidence of residential citizenship. Fifty years ago Dallas did not have a Colored doctor — but it is now well represented in every line of the medical profession. The program is in the hands of the Women's College of Medicine. The program is in the hands of the President. The Indians will draw from every branch of the profession. They say this must be the outstanding sight of the series. Efforts will be made to have every member of the profession represented on that night. To assure the complete success of this night the responsibility has been assigned to the Ministerial Alliance Night. It will be most interesting to the public to know the real advance that has been made in the course of years in the ministerial profession, both as related to the ministerial duties and as related to the ministerial responsibilities. It is the plan of the management to have every church in Dallas of our race represented on that night. To assure the complete success of this night the responsibility has been assigned to the Ministerial Alliance Wilson. He says that minister night must excel. WEDNESDAY NIGHT, MAY 19TH. MT. PIGAR RAPTET CHURCH NIGHT, FORT WORTH. The great great great church and one of the outstanding leaders of the race and Church is to be present. The church will remain music and the Mt. Pigar is noted for doing big songs and surely this will be a Mtg night. With Dr. Prince and his players and is to come one of the most noted and public spirit of churches in the nation. The minister will be fitting for the tribute of racial progress. Watch this night. Five men in the nation is better fitted to tell of this progress than Mr. McDonald. WEDNESDAY NIGHT, MAY 20TH. Public School Teachers Night. In nothing has it progress been more substantial in our racial life in Dallas as in that of education. Fifty years ago the race in this city was practically one hundred percent illiterate, without the erudest makehift of a school house — the first school in Dallas. The first school in Dallas was 21 teachers. 660 students, its efficiency is told in the fact, that to be competent to help a student there must hold a degree from a recognized college. We have 8 elementary schools with 103 students. 423,424. This system is operated at a cost of $112,963.
Thousands of our people have never seen the teachers of our children, come on this night and teach us. The program will be in charge of Mrs. Lela Taurasi, assisted by Mrs. J. C. Fraser and others. FRIEDAY NIGHT, MAY 29TH — BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL. No entertainment; would be complete without the children — we shall have the teachers and how we are going to turn thither over to the children, that we in this way may see the product of our numbers. Numbers will be furnished from every school in the system. We will be an integrating teacher. We will be a teacher of the children.

been erected which will meet the needs of the degradation for the next two years. Two of the first-order elements of people which are positive need to say community, and position, contains and剩之些人, are the Church which can proudly boast of the faith—not one's thousand-year-old life—that is the most important one. For the first time, the betterment of the community—though this contribution has been a humble one—yet it has been freely given and it now hopes to enter upon its next HIV year. In the first place, it is a positive force in the life of the Church. A great chalter of the Church is the history of the Church.
"A positive crisis is resphed in the history of the Church, and coming as it does just at the time the organization reaches its fifth-circle-point, begins to be the first duty of the one on whom to first tell God about the matter and then make conditions known to the goods they are to be first to be forthcoming. We have earned old the things the situation and now are to be made for the good. We have been to find the things will be in aہستہ واقع. The Church starts for the good of every citizen—we have a very unsafe situation confronting us now in the matter of high-standard howseons—but it is not that the community of the Church and the preciest of Church members charged with any kind of crime in almost any part—not one to those who are not charged with the kind of crime. The most severe sin is to be those who are so one to charge with the kind of crime. The one to be the one of the American Bankers Association was "NO ONE WOULD ARGE THE QUESTION THAT THE CHURCH'S BLE OF THE CHURCH IS NOT A CHILDREN'S PLACE OF A COMMUNITY. These are the words of Miss Elizabeth Welsh, the popular actress of our group, in telling of the change Pluko Hair Dressing is making in New York, "Whop! she continued, 'When I started using this preparation my hair was so unruly, I couldn't do a thing with it. Now it is so soft and straight I can dress it in any style I wish and it stays that way, looking grown longer, too, since I started using Pluko.' Mrs. Balley, of Mountain City, Tenn., says: "I have been using Dr. Fred Palmer's Skin Whitener for two or three years, and don't feel that I could get along without it. It is wonderful!"
This expression from Mrs. Bailey explains why Dr. Fred Palmer's Skin Whitener Preparations have, in a few short years, become the most popular best-selling treatments for race people throughout the entire United States. The immediate and universal satisfactory results obtained from these preparations have astounded the most skeptical.
Ladies in all walks of life, from Maine to California and from the Great Lakes to the Gulf, are improving their beauty, renewing the youthful texture of their skin and lightening their complexions with Dr. Fred Palmer's Skin Whitener Preparations, and there is a special preparation for each need. The Skin Whitener for lightening the complexion, Skin Whitener Soap and Power for smoothing and beautifying the complexion and Hair Dresser for properly grooming milady's tresses.
Any complexion, no matter how dark, muddy or oily, Dr. Fred Palmer's Skin Whitener Ointment will transform it like magic into a lovely soft, velvety skin—the

Abram cut entirely loose from his old home. He takes his family and althee, along with his own right back to exercise for the turning. Abram's younger brother had died and left a son whom Abram took a son who was also the son of the son in Canada a family known—from the Ngtw when they remained for some nine—the exact length of the house. Abram and Lot were quite prosperous and when they returned to their new home, they were quite rich. The great increase in flocks and herds of the two men and the security of pasturage, and the die-up of the who had already been between their servants made separation desirable. In nothing, perhaps, is the generosity of the Abram.
A great change in the proposal gives Lot the first choice, and is contented to take what is left. Lot, whose spirit is so different from the other, is responsible for the great over the Plains and the valley of the Jordan with its fine pentures and splendrous water, and soon to be the best. He has been the choice to made, and Lot pitches toward Bodom. The same night Oss appeared again to Abram and the other, and that all the land would be given him and his need. Before the size of the great, empty of power, of the city, was the amusing power of the civilized world shifted constantly by between Egypt and Parma. As a myrtle, and Ngtw's, Cudmodus, and Western Asia, he was paid on and other cities and petty kingdoms to subjection in the case of the land and in the regions of the
St. James Celebration Opens Sunday, First Pastor to Preach.
Every service during the celebration will be unique in some way. Aside from the fact that the first pastor of the church will come all years later he is mentioned again in the New Testament Heb. 6-22:21. There is a tradition that this aged shem the son of Noah who yet lived and was Gout's priest in that distant land, but it seems more reasonable to agree with those who believe he was a Censante chieftain with a knowledge of the true God, and kept the torch of true religion burning down his wicked surroundings. Many have thought from the reference to him inhewns that he was a supernatural being, but it is difficult to ressonate such a theory with his residence in Salem, "King of Salem" to this strain person Abram gave the tithes of all that he had taken in the expedition. In this he recognized his superiority over himself notwithstanding, he was the friend of God.
Abram cast all on God, an God gave back to him all that heart could wish while Lot returned to Sodom only later to loose all that he had and wreck his family. The practice of titling seems to have been introduced by Abram and Fumishra's solid foundation for our giving. Among theshaves extreme care was taken to pay those times even of "mint anise and cumulus and thereby negotiating" the weightier matter of the law. "Christ found it necessary to often rebuke the Jews of his way for that practice, not the practice of titling, but the disposition to make that supreme, in suppose that took the place of justice, righteousness and other fundamental things which must accept our giving." Though I give all my goods to Food the poor, and have not love, it profitless me, nothing." It is our conviction that there is no way of giving to the cause of the Lord which brings such rich blessings as that of giving one tenth to His cause.
ST. JAMES A. N. E. TEMPLE.
The interest increases in the Sun's day School campaign—for the first time the special class of which was Ross, in Taiga is teacher. He ported a larger attendance. This is the ladies' Bible class taught by Mrs. C. W. Abington. This fact created a mild sensation, when it was announced by the secretary. While the contest last Sunday narrowed down to those two classes, the men's Bible class was truly in the fight. The contest is truly between the three classes. The Sunday School attendance reached the 141 mark last Sunday. At the teachers' meeting Friday night Mr. E. C. White was elected to teach class number one, this fact will bring another class into the battle ground for leadership. Sunday next it is to be a great day Sunday School circles will mark the beginning of the Fitteth Anniversary celebration and the Sunday School is to have a special call.
The church had a splendid service in the morning—it was general at the day and scores testified to many of the younger members of the church took an active part in the services. The pastor preached Monday night to a large and appreciative audience, and administered the Holy Communion. A great class meaning was had Monday night.
The Young Women's Christian Club served refreshments. Mrs. C. D. Peoples and her young ladies are preparing to buy their names on the marble memorial slab. All ones and hearts are now turned toward the great weeks which are before us. A warm contest is being started between the women of the church for some special trips which are being offered for ticket selling and slab subscriptions.
