The Negro Republicans in Harris and Galveston counties are showing the rest of their fellows the way to a greater participation in the affairs of the party of their choice in the way in which they have lined up behind men of their own color who have entered the fight against the machine of Cresagus, "hoops of Texas G. O. P. They are raising money for their own campaigns. They are creating the aid of thinkers of the other race and instead looking for a PLACE AT THE PIE COUNTER. THEY ARE PUTTING UP THEIR OWN MONEY AND ARE DOING IT FOR THE GOOD WHICH THEY HOPE TO REAP FROM THEIR EFFORTS.

favor which their cause is attracting, within the state. Their-right will bear fruit in that it will concentrate the voting strength of the masses who heretofore have felt that politics was not working. They will be deprived of root among members of the race within the past years during which their political fortunes have met with many set back. It will put others on notice that there is a militant spirit in existence among Negroes and that they are not the docile things of many years ago, led by the promise of dollars but that they are actuated by the rights of the people, this is necessary to have the rights in the political arena as are others.

Notice to the Public
The defeat of the Creager machine in Texas may spell political freedom for those who are still in hopes of remaining in the Republican party. It is most certainly true that the only exponent of true Republican principles which Texas has seen for many days is Harry Wurzuch whose wife, Marjorie, will be attending that his group will place a candidate in the field in Dallas County. We hope so and we are given to feel that the choke has already been made. The Express is for him and will stand solidly behind him. It has come to the realization that the hope of Negro participation in the affairs of

The action of Galvain and Harris County has given him a powerful political history of the sort that should be permanent in its effect upon the morale of the whole group.

According to the statement of some, the final chapter in the lawsuit between the Pythianis of Texas and The Grand United Order of Odd Fellows was written last week when the sheriff's sale of the Houston Pythian Temple for $20,000 bid by the Odd Fellows 'disposed of the judgment granted to the Grand Lodge of Pythianis by the judge before whom the case was tried. The equity of the satisfaction is by now, well known to all Texans. The equity of the Odd Fellows came about as the result of the acceptance of a second lien note for more than $4,500 from the contractor of the Odd Fellows Temple as a part of the satisfaction for an over-payment to him by the Reward Secretary of $28,000. The property, not only their second lien equity of approximately the most favored adult. To have the war paved for an understanding of the problems of the rest of the country, is of any kind. He represents the highest type of man, being filled at once with the spirit of progress and the saving grace of common sense. His whole background both of training and of experience is the only qualification for the position which he is to fill. It is to be hoped that his election will mark the end of the discontent which has marked that school for the past two years and that all of those concerned with its welfare may unite in one great effort to help him make of it the institution which it deserves to be.
The Express notes with a great deal of satisfaction, the plan of the Federation of Colored Women's club to issue a monthly magazine. The organization has just competed its twentieth, first year of successful operation and its reports are in high demand. They are studying the things which go to make homes more attractive places and they are not forgetting the more important civic duties which are devolving upon women with such starting rapidity. It is to ensure that the women of the balloon will lead them into a whole hearted movement to participate in the elections of their cities and their state in a more acceptable manner than that of Former years. It could happen that they could show the men of the state the way to more information about the manners of the women and their welfare. Certainly their efficient contribution would be highly acceptable.
The Express is highly gratified at the actions of the Negroes of Harris and Galveston counties. It wishes for them the maximum amount of success and most members of the race in Houston who have lined up so solidly behind the movement to see him through. It is only unfortunate that such is not the case in every county in

If all of the facts in the case as are reported, the Express is the first to congratulate the Odd Fellows for the "tuck," which is thirst. In no other way would it have been possible to recover their fortunes, lost in such an unusual and careless way. And under any other circumstance, the purchase of the building at the shefft's sale would have amounted to nothing more than the throwing of more good money. The Express would have widened the windows and orphans of that order in the state of Texas, The Express is as glad. Luck was with them, if all of the facts are as reported. But in this same regard, the Express would have it understood that the happy outcome of this case, for apparently it is a happy outcome, is by no means any reason for the pardoning of the carelessness which was responsible for the holding of the note by the first place. That $28,000 which was over paid already without precedent in all of the annuals of Texas fraternals.
And too, there is another aspect of the case which seems well worthy of consideration, according to all of the reports. That transaction as to the re-sale of the prophecy is not a case of fraud, but a case of seeding the shifra's sale on Tuesday. It was common knowledge that the amount involved was slightly in excess of $20,000. And it was also common knowledge that there was a large amount of money.

chase the property, giving out more than $19,000 to protect an equity of little less than $5,000. To some, it may seem strange that the purchaser did not attend the sale and attempt to buy in the property for less than the $50,000 which it is reported that the re-sale brought. It would seem rather strange that a purchaser with $30,000 to spend on the sale of saving a possible $17,000 or $8,000 or at least, of making an attempt at saving it. But this seems not to have the case.
