Langston 13, Wiley 0. LANGSTON DEFEATS WILEY 13 TO 0 This was Langston's ball on Wiley 40 yard line. The rules were. He is at first splicer, in a luxurious Hagen-spartan first play was a line buck which netted five yards. On the bright light, the woman betrays him, because he knows much of her evil ways, tells her to, and "Black Boy" is forced left for a broken field run of 35 yards side stepping four Wiley players as they attempted to tuck and impressed and moved by the acting of "its disky star with his fine physique, his voice of deep, deep music and his genuine genius." Langston was rushed across for the first touchdown of the game, and in the high which made it hard for them to hold their man high which made it hard for them to hold their man. Langston failed to kick goal. Langston 6, Wiley 0. 4,000 AND MORE ENTHUSIASTIC FANS WITNESS EASY VICTORY FOR LANGSTON There is little reason to say that the three or more thousand fans who attended the Wiley Langton game at the stadium of the Fair Park were thrilled as they had expected to be at the contest which ended in a 13-0 victory for the eleven from Oklahoma. The team was demoralized, Wiley team which took the field; a team which lacked morale and made little showing from the standpoint of coaching. Confusion as to signals, costly fumits, high tackling and some disagreement within the team, all seemed to contribute to the victory which which was won, not so much by a superior and high class style of football by Langton as by the failure of the Wiley eleven to flash for the spectators, the suppression of the team for the huge losses for several years. The Wiley rooters, some four humboldt strong did not yell a single time and had it not been for the Wiley band, there would have been an absence of anything like spiril in the contest. Nearly every one of the spectators declared that It was a vastly different. Wiley from that of last year which appeared on the gridron Monster. But the reverse was true of the Langton eleven as far as morale and stamina were concerned. It fought and ripped its way to victory in a way that showed the other eleven in defiance contrast, and the hundred or more rooters who followed the team from the Sooner State made more noise in rooting for their team than at the Wiley contingent. Before a crowd of more than 4000 fans Langton kicked off to Wiley who had chosen to defend the west goal at 3:00. Lorden, Wiley's right half who was playing full at the opening received the ball and advanced to mid-field where an exchange of punts kept the ball in the air, with Langston having the advantage. On a Langston pallion Lorden having the advantage on his own 20 yard line, on the first play, an end drive on the ball failed when Taylor fumbled and Langston covered the ball. This was Langston's ball on Wiley's 40 yard line. The first play was a line buck which netted five yards. On the next play the ball was given to Williams who skirted Wiley's left for a broken field run of 35 yards side stepping four Wiley players as they attempted - to tackle and to block. The amazing time of 8 minutes, Wiley's players were tackling high which made it hard for them to hold their man Langston failed to kick goal. Langston 6, Wiley 0. Lorden again received the ball and raced to mid-field where a play for Scott who was playing left half for Wiley failed as his interference weakened, not able to gain on the three downs Scott panted out of bounds on Langston's 20 yard line. He was able to be stended himself from the feast of Langston's men who broke through Wiley's line at will. Langston's ball on their own 20 yard line as Johnson carried the ball through Wiley's line on three attempts making Langston's third first down of the game. After three attempts at Wiley's line, which seemed to tighten at this point, Langston attested to their first forward run. On the first play, Scott made two attempts for 10 yards, on the next play "Tank" Lorden carried the ball over left tackle for Langston's first down. Reynolds was substituted for Taylor. Langston made long gains on two forward passes both being complete but each runner was cut down. On the third attempt Langston lost the ball on their own line and was called as he was called upon two times to carry the ball making each time. The half end with Wiley's ball on Langston's 10 yard line. Langston 6, Wiley 0. Reynolds received the kick off and raced to Langston's 40 yard line where he gained on two attempts. Reynolds was the only Wiley player that seemed not to bear the heavy Langston's third down he attempted an end run but was cut down by Wiley's Wiley line giving away and the Langston ends. Miller and Williams, rounding the Wiley ends with out any trouble. Langston pointed out of danger and continuous calls for Reynolds to carry the ball brought it to Wiley's fourth down on Langston's five yard line. Reynolds was again called but the Langston line tightened and they took the ball from Wiley on their own five yard line. The third quarter ended this was Wiley's only threat to score which was cut down by Langston's five yard line. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, for Langston behind his own goal and put to safety to Lorden who fumbled the ball which was quickly covered by Langston. Langston hit the line for 5 yard but his team was penalized for off side, an attempted forward pass was blocked by Reynolds who was fighting hard. The ball roll- out of bounds on an attempted punt, the ball was Wiley's on their 40 yard line. Reynolds carried the ball around right end for gain, Reynolds again gained through center, Wiley gained on their fourth down. Langston hit left end for gain, Johnson hit center for five yards. A forward pass to Williams gained 10 yards and carried the ball to Wiley's five yard line, a line play with Jones Carrying the ball went over for the second touch down. Langston kicked goal. Langston 13, Wiley 0. THE DALLAS EXPRESS, DALLAS, TEXAS, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23, 1926 "IN THE REALM OF SPORT" The next few minutes of play showed Langston continually hitting Langston's line without any gass. Scott, in the last minutes of play flashed again as he broke loose for an end gain but with out results as the game ended before the next play. Wiley's only play that seemed to show the old Wiley form was a triple fake pass in their back field as the ball was passed to Miller to Scott to Reynolds who would be well out of the line of play by then and on the only two times that this was used proved successful, as the Langston players were at lost as to where the ball was and only by a suction field. Miller got through Wiley's line was the ball located there, but Miller out side of this one play, Wiley did not show any football strategy. Wiley Pupils Special. A special train over the T. & P. arrived in Dallas about 11:00 carrying 550 students and many rosters; for Wiley and a 12-piece orchestra.
