Her beauty was spoiled by short, wirey hair. Behind her back they laughed and made unkind remarks about her hair. She avoided her—she had no admirers.
Then a friend recommended Hi-Ja Quinine hair Dressing. Her short hair started to growough and magically flew away. It tasted soft and wavy. And almost overnight the neglected girl became the most sought after girl in her life. Her head had passed her by without glance now fought for her favors.

THE DALLAS EXPRESS has never hoisted the white shirt of a firefighter, but it has dispensed by 14 hs. a yellow streak. It is not afflicted with fire, but it is sprayed, every day, sensible, connoisseur new-papyrus, which creates a new-papyrus, which pansing breasts; files no doublegirl flag. It professes a national identity, a national country. Its lives cover of even handwritten flutes over all the lertered reeds. This is pretty high quality. Beece and Vannett have paid the penalty according to the dictates of American law but not without a seven-year respite was given to the girl. She was grabbed from all parts of the world. There were serious doubts of their guilt on the part of many thousands who sympathized with the American Courts and Judges finally brought them to justice. Maurice Mauro was a Negro boy who lived in Tennessee and wounded much less definite was need to kill the girl. She was woman of the other race. And though special efforts were made by members of his own, race to have his sentence committed or to be sent to death he did not to be sent to death and the state of Tennessee was satisfied. But Saturday in Norfolk, Va., a woman, member of the other race, would not let her rent stageded into police station and told the story of the murder. She was

We show its better aspect and its more partisan than we in mains of our section. But such passing. Such contents as it in the hope that the situation that we call attention to disputed, and that partisans to admit the existence of this not true lynching would reason would hold away. The leader. That day is not progressive white southerner we that this day may come, but realized that more and more in white and black are weighing and in the failure of the Tex-tion meeting of the Supreme greatest regret was that even their section they were unable to refute charges based their southland.
THE RECENTLY closed Supreme Lodge of Pythianis was made more interesting than usual because of the bid of the Texas delegation for the next meeting of that body in Texas. Not only were those delegates armed with letters of invitation from their own organization; but they carried into Chicago and into that delegation of men from every state in the union, letters from the leading white organizations of Dallas, and while there, they received telegrams of invitation from leading state and city officials. Leading railroad prepared special-invitation folders containing views of Negro homes, churches, schools and business houses and those flooded the convention. On every hand there was lively debate and much argument about the improvement in the relations between the races, particularly in Texas and in the south generally. Such actions as this on the part of the better thinking white southerners will do to convince those in other parts of the country both white and black that all white southerners is not to be judged by the stories of lynching, discrimination and Jim crow and will argue rather that there is a progressive Christian intelligent and friendly white South which is striving to make itself known.
And it is not amiss for thinking members of the Negro race who are determined to live in the south to join heartily with this party of thinking progressive and Christian white southwester in advertising this disposition and in striving where ever it is possible to emphasize the fortunate aspects of the situation in this connection. It is to be remembered that such an attitude is one of fairness and directly opposed to that attitude on the part of the white people which all too often manifests itself in a belief that all Negros must be judged by the worst of the race. There is no doubt but that healthy-firm sentiment is making itself felt all over the southland. In calling the spirit of the new south there is no exaggeration and the hope that it will continue to grow and help in making it grow can easily be considered investments in a better future.
THINGS AGAINST WHICH WE CANNOT ARGUE
IN INVITING the supreme lodge to Texas members of the special delegation heard many arguments which they could refute and which they did refute, but there were others, the truthfulness of which could not be denied and which they were forced to admit. Chief among the objections to coming to the south was one to the effect that the white people who extended such cordial letters of invitation, though they were sincere in their statements could not control the sentiment of the casual meddling along the street, and that, therefore, while des allowance could be made for the sentiment which they expressed their attitude could not dispell the real danger of friction. In proof of this content instances were given pressed their attitude could not dispell the real danger of friction. In proof of this content instances were given by many who had attended such conventions in the south, end the argument was presented that though there was no monopoly on such occurrences in the south they happen there with more frequency than in other sections of the country. One who held to this conviction pointed out that in the case of the recent Little Rock lynching effort was made to intimidate the thrifty and progressive Negroes and the burning was actually done in front of the largest Negro office building in the city.
It can be fairly argued that those of us who live in the south are not only convinced of its opportunities but are sold to its possibilities, and are truly loyal to it. With those who argue against it, we show its better aspect and its finer aspects and none are more partisan than we in maintaining the good reputation of our section. But such thrusts as this are embarrassing. Such contentions as these are ununwarrable and in the it in the situation may be unmotivatedly viewed that we call attention to the fact that facts cannot be disputed, and that partisans, though we are, we are forced to admit the existence of this unfortunate condition. Were this not true lynching would speed ease and rule of reason would hold away. The denegague would cause to be the leader. That day is not get come. Along with the progressive white southerner we are compelled to hope to work that day may come, but in the meantime it must be realized that more and more it is coming to pass that all men, white and black are weighing questions in the light of facts and in the failure of the Texas as delegation to land the next meeting of the Supreme Lodge of the Pythians their greatest regret was that even in their loyalty and love for their section they were unable to find arguments strong enough to refute charges based in fact which were against their southland.
