Almost two to one in every case and an analysis of the voting indicates that, in the case of the segregation measure which was number 18, most of its opponents were white voters and that very few Negroes included it in the general attempt to defeat the whole measure and not to have had any effect. Men deserve the shades of segregation and discrimination so long as they are unwilling to undertake their own salvation are the maintenance of their own liberty. The Negroes of Dallas and of all other Texas cities which do likewise are no exception to this general rule. Despite the fact that the Negroes are the majority in the direction of the Negro Chamber of Commerce and letters to all of the voters were in their hands several hours before THE DALLAS EXPRESS PUBLISHING CO. But the opportunity has been lost through a lack of real interest in the preservation of liberty. This is not an issue of the past, but of the present. I truly believe that the other failure, even worse than this, involved the same general principle of segregation and the failure to vote against it in an election in which less than 5000 votes were cast. Twice received at Post Office at Dallas, Taxas, as second-class mailer, Annual Act of Congress, March 1972. Foreign Advertising There is no need for Dallas to fool themselves. They are either their own friends or they are their own worst enemies. And in failures like this they may well consider that they have proven themselves the latter. It is not hard now to visualize the tremendous agitation which will follow some, announced the segregation attempts. Meetings will be held. Small groups will gather on corners or in homes and discuss the situation. Delegations will visit the Mayor and other city officials and ask in the name of "justice" that such measures be not allowed to maintain. All of this will be done in the face of the fact that that same group and all of the members of that same group fail to recognize the importance and importance of happenings which would cause such complains. Prevention has always been less expensive than cure and always will be. In failing to see the necessity for preventing the passage of this new segregation measure and of voting to keep it out of the constitution of this city Negro Dallasites have forged another chain about the necks of themselves and their unborn children and guaranteed for themselves another hindrance to their civic progress. And yet they have not been able to prevent the failure of mature years do not desire to be referred to as "boys." The numbers of clubs, lodges and businesses finally reached the headquarters of the Patterson firm, which most of our customers, woke indolence in the success of the campaign. Chest Wear New Workers and Employees Lincoln League and official of the City of Chicago, who went into a meeting at Washington and attempted to poll the national committee with a view to getting their re-election, told the newspaper and the People's Palm of New York that What New Workers and Many New Contributors indicated their disagreement with the policies of Creager and Carroll, in the fact that it shows a large number of new contributors are published for the purpose of making the party in the south "a white man's party." There can be no doubt of the significance of the step *Contributions of Organizations and Therapeutists are given Below and are listed in the following business organizations or the unsponsored of business concerns and have more to say about the connection.* *Mrs. "Mary" Fosterstein* Mr. D. No. 21 Pride of Wheat, K. of P. and signified the intention of causing competing delegations from avowed "illy white" states to be brought up to the national convention. Many of the leaders of the party indicate their disagreement with the policies of Creager and others. The party is not the only one established for the purpose of making the party in the south "s white man's party." There can be no doubt of the significance of the step made by Simmons in this matter or of the effectiveness of the plan which he proposes for the coming Republican majority. The party is not the only one sincerely of those southern Republicans who are attempting to make the party in the south really "illy white." The rule of Creager in Texas for the past few years is proof enough of the need for definite and drastic action by members of the race if they desire continued affiliation with the party of Lincoln and of Grant. The refusal of Coolidge for place by aspirants from all sections of the country will make rather easy the type of setting which will be favorable for the splitting of delegations and votes and the recovery of place by those delegations which have been read out of the party in former years. Texas can well be one of these states in which the power of the "illy white" party is still strong, and the mustering must be the result of forthright and concerted action. Already there is some discussion of the "how" and the "why" of such a happening. A recently published open letter from Wm. McDonald to J. T. Harris of Brenham indicates the best and the only way to this result. Negroes and those who believe in a Republican party "of the people," people who "must respond to the calls for presetect county and state" and who intend and will represent who will see to the selection of those who will represent the will of the majority. Herefore it has happened that though many Negroes paid their poll tax and became qualified voters, they thought too little of the consequences of non-voting and allowed the restrictions of which they now complain, to be placed against them. They thought to the opportunity presented by their agency, not in them, who would make the party "white" white. The situation complained of is one of the making of those who now recognize it and the change of the condition must be due to their willingness to interest themselves in their own salvation. Already the Independent Voter League is sponsoring a "Pay Your Poll Tax" campaign throughout the whole country to respond to that call be ready and large. And let that be followed by the call for Republican presetect, state and county conventions and let them attend, vote for those who believe in the principles of freedom and democracy and send up delegations if necessary to compete with the "white" white segment. There is no other way in which the condition may be changed. No miracles will happen. The good will of Republican leaders in other states can amount to nothing in the solution, because without the active interest of Tanners in their own convention, active participation in these conventions, the work of Simmons and others will mean nothing. and among young people and devoted in chariting lives of young men.
