She finally revealed what had happened, however, and the evidence was brought before the district attorney and Brown was arrested. The child said the District Attorney Jieckard Shults conducted the prosecution at the preliminary hearing and asked the court to remand Brown back to Jail and not allow any bond. That is what the court did despite the efforts of Defense Attorney T. K. Irwin and Lee Taylor to obtain their client's consent. Immediately after the examining trial, all witnesses in the case were taken before the grand jury. Dr. One Spies, assistant county health officer, also testified at the hearing. He testified she was bruised and killed after a condition was not normal. Mrs. Minnie Gay, must stand trial for the murder of Miss Corrie Bell, whom she shot to death following an argument at a party on Floyd Street Sunday night, Feb. 26, it was determined Friday when the grand jury returned a murder indictment against her. The indictment was returned into Judge Grover Adam's court but the case has not yet been set for trial. Assistant District Attorney Dean Gualdin supervised an extensive investigation of the shooting before the county probes, with many witnesses appearing to give their version of how the shooting occurred. Of course, all matters that come to light in the grand jury room are secret, and it is not known how the various witnesses explain the shooting. The police have tigged on the shooting revealed, however, that both of the principals became involved in the shooting, and argued with one another about another, sledl who was, present at the scene, and they went outside. One of the pair is said to have smashed a pocket from a ticket and struck the police officer. Then Mrs. Gay went on home. So did Miss Bell. They didn't Mrs. Gay saw her coming and talked to her. Crager of Texas, accompanied by several of those who believe with him, that the best way to build up the Republican party in this state lies in the disfranchisement of Negroes, held a conference in Washington to address President Obama. During this conference the Republican committee pressed that in the event that Al Smith was nominated, Texas would become a battleground between Hoover and Smith. Of course it was assumed that Hoover would be nominated in Kansas City. He did not dare to declare that the majority of the people of Republican tendencies in Texas would not support Mr. Hoover. If does not know. It has no reason to presume that they would not. Nor does it declare that Mr. Hoover is either as good or as not as any other of the presidential possibilities who are now in the public eye. But it does wonder just how Mr. Crager arrives at the conclusion of the debate in the light of the fact that he has contact with so few. It is a matter of record that, however he arrived at the place of nation committee, Mr. Greater does not control ever a semblance of a party group in this state. His whole regime has been one calculated to tear down rather than support it. He has opposed to and opposed by the only Republican Congressman of the state and there can be no doubt but that the records will show that this Congressman more votes in his district in his race for his office than were polled by the Republican candidate for governor in the last question. And that is not all. There are approximately 90,000 or more votes in his district who can definitely indicate the actual power of. the Greater regime if forced to vote in opposition to him in any election. These he does not control. These he has completely alienated from his standards but not from their love of the Republican party. These he cannot speak for, and he has neither thirds of the potential Republican strength of the state. Washington, D.C., April 14 (PNS)—The belief that white ministers should take a firmer stand against the evil of lynching and mob law was expressed Thursday by delegates attending the session of the Inter-denominational Ministerial Alliance of America to the Metropolitan Baptist church in a symposium on "The Anglo-Saxon Pulpit in its Attitude toward lynching, mob law and law enforcement." Colored ministers discussing the subject declared that fearless deonisation of such practices on the part of the white pulpit would do much to eradicate such evils. It was pointed out that white ministers are often negligent and sometimes indifferent and do not conderethic v॥5 strongly enough. Rebel's J. T.
