The the President Assistant Very few changes were made in the pastorates and the appointments as a whole were satisfactory. The Central Texas Conference met in Kinnamie Chapel, Henderson, November 28, at 9:30 A.M. m. presided over by Bishop J. W. McKinney. Henderson is a promising little city. Colored Methodism is represented by two good churches. They are well constructed and are well attended. Rev. A. H. Daniels. The opening devotionals were conducted by Preading Elders J. H. Douglas, W. F. Simpson, E. S. Moore, H. C. Carter and J. G. Collins. Rev. H. C. Wyatt prescheduled the sacramental sermon. Dr. H. P. Potter of Jackson, Tenn. assisted the Bishop and elders in the administration of every interest as laid down by the General Conference, and he adhered to his outlined program strictly. Mrs. R. E. McKinney, his cultured wife, enters into the work of her husband with zeal and enthusiasm. She is a valuable asset to Colored Methodism in Texas. Texas is happy and satisfied and pains everyone. Bishop McKinney is organization—Rev M. D. McCallester, Rev H. W. Johnson and Rev. R. C. Wyatt were elected secretaries and Mrs. W. Johnson private secretary. Rev. D. R. Davis was appointed reporter to Western Index. He answered to answer roll call, being a member of the Central Conference. The Restorers A. P. Johnson, representing the Western Index; M. L. Vaughnets, American Bible Society representative; R. C. Mast, West Texas Conference, and Mrs. R. B. Williams, state president Women's Missionary Society. Rev. D. R. Davis was appointed reporter to Western Index. He answered to answer roll call, being a member of the Central Conference. The report of Dr. J. H. Douglas was also cheered. The Henderson and Terrell districts presided over by Reverends E. S. Moore and W. F. Simpson, reported fairly. The Central Texas women have a very good organization. The work is organized on the same lines as an annual conference, and reports are made by local delegates after the district president have repolled. Miss A. C. West Texas Conference, presided for the women on Friday night, and after the sermon the women raised over $11,000. It was then known that the women of the Central Texas Conference raised more on their night than the women of the "Dissel" Texas Conference or the "Promd" West Texas Conference. Mrs. E. K. Williams of Dallas, state president of the mission work SUNDAY SERVICES At 11:00 A. M. Rev. R. H. Mounst, pastor of St. James, Tyler, Texas, preached in the conference room. At 1:30 there was silence for a few moments—a yetman, Rev. S. M. Benson of Jacksonville, had answered the roll call up yonder. Rev. T. A. Anson忽视 the occasion. NORTH ALABAMA CONFERENCE The North Alabama Conference opened Tuesday, November 29, 1928, and closed Sunday night, November 25. This was by all odds the most harmonious, God-like and far-reaching meeting in the history of this conference. Harmonious in spirit of service, God-like in the absence of the ungoody and far-reaching in its results. The conference was opened by Bishop Brown, who, at the outset, set all minds at rest, disziplined all anxiety, removed all years by his brotherhood opening address and review of the work of the year. He thanked the brethren and praised God for the year's work and what it had been to the state and First. The physical Christ. Christ's anatomical structure compared to man's. He discussed the offices of Christ as Prophet, Priest and King. Second. His physical birth. Without beginning, always co-sistent with God. Third. In form man. In divinity God Incarnate. Fourth. He tellingly and forcefully illustrated the fact that Christ's death was for the salvation of all mankind, all races, nations, tribes and tongues. That Christ's death form man's opportunity and possibility of salvation. He exorcised Christians and ministered to wait, to possess the old-time virtues the world on fire with religious fervor. To live on high ground, set lofty examples thus compelling the young men and women to "Carry On." He said that Christ's death opened the gates of heaven to all men, that all must finally come to the same end, that all must be obedient unto death, that all the martyrs of the Scriptures were obedient unto death, that Christ Himself was obedient unto death. That Christ Himself cannot cause a Christian to failer; that all real Christians prefer death than the things of world. The collection was taken, amounting to $622.00. The afternoon services were devoted to memorializing the recent deceased, who were Reverend Trembley, Henry, Beany, Byrum and Mashaw. Fitting addresses were delivered by the following ministers: Rev. Battle, Howard, Powell, Nichols, D. Royal, D. Klman, R. Wilson, V. L. Balley, L. W. Mitchell, Dr. J. A. Bray addressed the early evening services very acceptably. Dr. J. A. Bray was introduced by Dr. J. A. Bray, who is his last call in his 121. By one spirit we are all baptized into one body. Subject, "The Unity of Christian Believers." Dr. Nobile Delivered a very strong, forceful and touching session. Thus ended the most peaceful, respectful and lowly conferences that it has been ours to witness. it has been ours to witness. South Side Church, with its most modernly equipped church building, with its dining romo, restrooms, kitchen and everything that enters into the modern institutional churches of the country, did itself, its pastor, Dr. L. W. the builder, its officers and members proud in the way they cared and entertained this great conference, a meeting where people met and really "confessed." After reading the appointments for the coming year, Bishop Brown announced the benediction. ```markdown ``` DEFENSE FUNDS PAGE FIVB with her school enjoyed a lovely program and was very excited. Similar to this experience of a man in a picture gallery who has puzzled over the meaning of a painting and by his position found the point of view from which the artist meant it to be viewed." Paul became a world-Christian and from that than on exerted all the energies of his great soul to carry in person the good news to the ends of the earth. A Bishop in lecturing to a group of ministers in one of the European countries said to them, that they were not prepared to accept that they knew nothing of the world except what that they had read — they needed to travel and come in living vital touch with different peoples of the earth. As a result of that lecture some months later a minister passed eighty arrived in New York on a trip around the world. John Wesley used as his motto: "The World is My Field." But already Paul had declared as he pondered his obligations as the ambassador for Christ: "I Am a Debtor Both to Crusades and to Barbarians, both to The Wise and the Poor." The Gospel's present us the great truths of the Christian Dispensation, but these truth needed to be put into concrete and workable form—this was very largely the tank of Paul, he grapples with the problems of the practical application of Christianity to every-day life and conduct. To him the religion Christ came to give to the world was not an abstract theory vague and beyond us, like the delusion of the Indians happy hunting ground he hopes to reach after death, but a life to be lived among ones fellow-whom. But this does not mean that the doctrine which must avert confront the church. Paul in many of his letters formulated many of these great truths into Christian doctrine. It is believed that his Epistle to the Romans stands at the head of that class of his writings. This letter was written near the close of his stay in Corinth on his third missionary journey. In the book Paul adorns its pages with a massive, and while it contains many passages of practical application of compassionate tenderness and rare beauty, its chief value to us is its wonderful grasp of the great theological problems and their bearing on common duties of life. From that time on until he was beheaded in 66 A. D. by the order of brutal Nero—no man ever suffered as much for the cause he represented. As an evangelist he was earnest, zealous, uncompromising and fearless. His vision of Christ on the Damascus road made him ever there, and his relationship with his Lord—his abundant prayer life, his philosophy of the love that worketh no ill to his neighbor, his hope that penetrated the veil of material things and by faith in hold on eternal realities made him to all-intentes and purposes a mystic.
