SATURDAY'S SPECIAL ELECTION. The voters of Houston will be called upon to pass judgment on two propositions Saturday, June 9, while the citizens of the city and independent school district will be afforded an opportunity to elect three members of the board of directors. The voters of Houston will be asked the question of the retention or abolition of the jitneys is one issue, and the issuance of bonds to the amount of $1,750,000 for a nineteen-story municipal building is the other proposition. The Informer is not particularly committed to the candidacy of any aspirants for positions on the school board, yet this paper believes that Captain J. Lewis Thompson, R. H. Fonville and James G. Donovan are as good material for school board members as can be found in the city. The information provided by the Informer, experience with city school management, and handling of big problems, youth, a vision of and grasp on educational problems and questions that will be of unfortune. We believe that these three candidates measure up to the requirements along this line and therefore favor their candidacy for the three elective municipal positions. The jitneys question, while the decision of the voters will not be binding, should be settled once for all, and since there is no colored lines nor line carrying colored passengers, the Informer is not particularly concerned in the proposition from that angle. This paper, in view of the information presented, favors the abolition of the jitneys for the grevious attitude of the white jitney operators towards the San Felipe line, when said attitude of the official dictum, these white operators forfeited all claims that they may have had one or more. It is a question of the white jitney operators on one hand and the street car company on the other; and since the traction company is a real asset for the city, it is worth more to the city than fifty jitney lines as now operated. Why should colored voters favor the retention of the jitneys, when we can not afford it? Will it profit us to retain these "coockroaches" and yet are not per- Without injecting too much of the racial issue in the matter, yet we should always cast a vote where it will do the best good to ourselves and communities. Between the street cars and jitneys, which gives employment to our people. Which helps worthy and laudable causes among our racial contagion? The Informer takes this position mindful of the fact that our race does not always get a fair and square deal from the local traction company because it is not always the best way to civilize it and can be said to credit that there is not nearly as much trouble between car crews and colored passengers as in days gone by. The information we give to our customers at both its barns and on its tracks. How many colored men do these white jitneys employ? The company helps the city expand and enlarge by extending its lines into new districts and pays its share of paying the streets on its lines operated by the city. The question of corporation against a few individuals trying to make an honest living, as far as we are concerned: is it a question of equity or not? The traction company has invested millions of dollars in this city, while the jitneys are not so involved in the transportation problem, and taking into consideration the disposition other cities have made of the jitney question. The Informer favors the abolition of the white jitneys in the city of Houston. The Informer favors the abolition of the white jitneys in the city of Houston. As for service, it is impossible for a Ford car or a fock of Porsche to the service a tractor car can give and is capable of giving. The city has not hated and their adoption tried, grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel. As for the municipal building. The Informer is not enthusiastic over the project; not that it is not a worthy undertaking or much-needed project, but certain local conditions render it rather unwise to submit a bond issue for such a proposition at this time. The city has not hated and their adoption tried, grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel. This is another proposition that will not directly affect nor help the colored citizens, for no space will be rented in the proposed building to colored persons, and the proposed building will be located in the various municipal departments; we can not even cast a ball for the city officials in the primary, and we are always alighted when it comes to receiving any consideration from the city officials. The building will be a nice advertising card for Horton and this paper is in no position to disprove the figures regarding the revenue that will be produced by such a building; but this paper is not a proof of the revenue that the city administration, and that when even the high municipal officials promise to address a colored body, they never appear, never make an apology for failure to appear as promised and programmed, and do not even send a **Millions for a nineteen-story city hall and market, but not one cent for a mansion.** Millions for a handsome and municipal building, but not one cent for a mansion. Voted by 1,250,000 Milions for erecting a beautiful building to advertise Houston and house city departments, not yet a penny for improving the inanitary and horrible physical conditions of the city, but colored sections of the city have received more consideration from the city officials and our living conditions rendered and maintained better. The proposed bond issue for the inanitary building, but not before then, is against the proposed bond issue for $1,750,000 for the inanitary building, believing that there are other needs more crying and urgent at this time, which affect a larger number of taxing citizens of Houston. Whether for or against the various propositions and candidates to be voted upon at Saturday's election, it is the duty of every qualified elector to vote, and every qualified citizen can cast a ballot. Attractive women everywhere depend on hair care. Why? Nature nurtures upon the young, and nature provides them with hair to retain it. Beauty of the hair can be retained or maintained with St. Clair hair products, and this fact is. It is no experiment. The result is a great destroyer. First condeed death, over increasing. The pure ingredients have asthetic and medicinal values that are not ever cut. If hair is cut, softness, hair and scab. If you desire soft, lustrous hair and no more litching hair and scab. If eventually—why not cut it? Fifty per cent cost. Course. Women probably firstly treat hair for particular—send nams for rogy.
