"A as matter of fact, the actuaries again visited the Mississippi Life office to show in a statement that the company was impaired $50,000. We then saw that the company had to get possession of the company without paying the Howard-Cox interest, the balance of some $50,000, and of information leaking out, and the officers of the Mississippi Life going to Hon. T. M. Mississippi, pointed out to him what was about to be done, together with the Mississippi, pointed out to him King, the coup would have succeeded. All of Mr. Church's efforts were of no avail. In his statement to the church, Perry accused the church of gold-filled form with six hundred people and was in danger of losing his head wanted to add more money to his bank. This is precisely the truth when it comes to advertising in The Houston Informer The Houston Informer goes into more colored homes than all other local colored newspapers combined and enjoys the second largest circulation in Texas among colored journals. The Houston Informer also reaches more colored people than any daily newspaper in the city. Its circulation is LARGE and is still jumping by leaps and bounds, proving that it is THE PEOPLE'S PAPER Its advertising rates are LOW in comparison with its values to the advertisers. There are fully 40,000 colored citizens in Houston and this volume of business is surely worth going after. Mr. Merchant, if you desire and appreciate the patronage of this large number of citizens, advertise in THE HOUSTON INFORMER PAGE SIK upon good ground" The Sower, in the parable, cast his seed to the winds of heaven. That which landed among the stones, the thorns and in the barren places, perished. Only the seeds which reached the good ground had a chance to grow. The modern advertiser does not strew his seed of salesmanship to the winds. He plants it carefully in the "good ground"—in the places where because of favorable conditions it has a chance to bear a harvest of consumer results. He uses newspaper advertising because through the newspapers he covers completely the rest which is known, upon careful investigation, to be right places for his product to flourish. Advertising in The Informer Sells the On to him. Boroughs--good morning, Brown. Good bread--good bread. Brown--not for bracing me! I can't lead you a coat--"Boston Treasurer." THE HOUSTON INFORMER, SATURDAY, APRIL 5, 1924 Casing-Head Gas. Casting-head gas has been made since 1904. An oil which has the facet of a gallon-shaped drum from natural gas is sprayed downstream from a tall pipe or tower, while the natural gas coming out at the top is practical for drilling. The gas is then absorbed by the bottom has absorbed it. Then, by a simple process of distillation, the gasoline is derived from the oil, and the distillate is used in the plant again. A good-sized plant can treat 80,000,000 cubic feet of gas this year, and obtain at least 8,000 gallons of gasoline a day. **Several Species of Rattlesnakes.** The most common and well known rattlesnakes are abundant in the East, Midwest, and Southwest, Hampshire, and Lake Superior, to the borders of the dry plains. The diamond rattlesnake is found mainly in the North Carolina to Texas, and a range varies westward to Lower North Carolina to Texas, and a range in the Rocky mountains region and northern Mexico. The ground rattlesnake is also found in southern states, and a range common in the Allegheny mountains. Pine Tree Pollen. Yellow rain in the Yukon territory and red snow in Greenland with a red snow in the Arctic also found to be caused by the pollen of pine trees growing miles distant. The pollen is caught by the wind. The snow is in "made" by wind-bleed deposits of minute vegetable organics or of snowed which contain red spots. The Jewish Star. The Jewish Welfare board says that according to Jewish tradition the symbol on the Jewish flag was not primarily a star, but was a double triangle the emblem of the Jewish Nation and the design of that monarch. Because many things you can advertise are the things you buy and use in your regular daily life. By reading the advertisements, you can learn the names and read descriptions of the things that are best and most useful. But advertising teachers more than that. All advertisers try to make their advertisements themselves valuable to you. A good many people have learned a whole lot about good advertising. They know the best ways to live comfortably, how to keep the home and grounds looking well—they've learned all these things and many other things just by reading advertisements. And you will learn a great deal that will be helpful and valuable to you as you go through life. DR. O. L. Knight Unable to Emit Cheers About His Club Jack Knight, former indefender for the American League and for Minnesota and Toledo in the American association, has been traded to the Baltimore Browns. Toledo team leader Knight will play first base and act as a sold manager for Ira Thomas. Knight will play second base in the business duties of the club. Knight was a member of the Miller team of 1915, 1916 and 1917. He was a player in the American land in the American association that was a classic of its kind. It will be played in the league. Knight could be Cleveland in 1915 and 1914. During the latter season, Knight had the Hess could not with. A friend of Knight to him one day "I don't see why your team fails to win." He has the best team in the league. "You're right," answered Knight. "You're right," answered paper, but the rewritten on paper. Carl Mays Makes Life National League umpire are bound to experience a challenge the coming season now that Carl Mays will pitch for the Chicago Cubs. He always has been a tough fellow for the arbiets to handle. To begin his career, he played the umpire plenty of golf. He throws underhand, all of his shoots starting from the back of the net around the batter's face. Carl Mays matches between a fast ball that breaks it a spitter and a curve that rises too high. Mays has a bad temper, too, and in his attempts to get all of the close defense it makes life miserable for the umpire. Walter Hagen Aims to Play in "British Open" for the British open golf championship. The former titleholder plans to call for an England on June 10, which will give him about a week over there for the championship at Hoylake. Hagen expressed himself as being highly pleased with the date set for the American open, which will be held at the Hills Country club, at Detroit, and Alec Smith, who shared the honor if being the only two competing players, will have the American open to play will bring about the best golf possible. CANADA Charles German, Canada's speed skating star, returned to his home country after a two-year international and international outdoor titles, was greeted by a cheering crowd of 10,000 sports people. In reply to their greeting he waved his shirts to the crowd, and he would return from competition. "I have achieved my greatest ambition in the winding of these titles," he said. "I am an enlisted man to on my肩头." Jack Renault Training Jack Renault, Canada's heavy-weight champion and contender for the world's heavyweight title, is at Hot Springs, Ark., where he is getting into shape for the cooling evening season in the baseball parks. Baseball Notes The real sign of spring is the line-up for seats at the opener. A. Rinklin Johnson has signed to manage the Team team of the Texas association. Louisville has added another Cuban to its roster, signing Vincent Tarracho, a first baseman. Dallas has signed Bill Mackt, third baseman of the Southwestern university of Georgetown. Tex. As a baseball training field Florida apparently does everything except guarantee pennant winners. Old line politicians go on the theory that it all is right to cut second base if one is sure the third base isn't looking. Chrystal Deal, third baseman of the Vernon club of the Pacific Coast has decided to report to his team. The New York Yankees have released Pitcher Elbert Johnson to the Des Moines club, of the Western League. The St. Louis Browns have taken Pitcher Milton Hyland, a New York Browns player, pitcher, in a left-hander. Norman Williamson of Hampion, Va., and all-round athlete, has been elected captain of the Boston university baseball team. Republican politicians are considering the nomination of Nigel Lajole, former american baseball star, for a sheriff of Cayuga county, Ohi. Mark Purell, manager of Hutchinson, has traded Pitcher Bob Good to Bessie of the Nebraska State league. Wigg, a catcher and outfielder. George Slater, manager of the St. Louis Americans, plans to return to the game this season in the capacity of manager, first baseman and pitcher. Among new umpires signed for the Minnesota Valley league is Tinker Dichelle of Poets, Ill, well known in the baseball as the handler of an indicator. Kid Bilberfield of Little Rock and Missouri will play with witnesses that they will not do unanimous this year, but will stick to the rules. He will give to their fans an extra player.
