A careful review of all the evidence introduced at the trial, which began last Wednesday, reveals the fact that in not a single instance was any testimony introduced tending to connect the comproller with complicity to violate liquor laws to which any fair-minded man should give credence. Louisville, Ky.-The colored school system of Louisville will profit by offering many improvements and extensions, as a result of two school bond issues that have been the most five to one. The first, an issue of one million dollars for the University of Louisville, will cost $200,000 to establish a colored department at the university by taxation. The city's university system. A suit against some building erected at once, where courses will be given in pre-medical training, English language, pedagogy, sciences. Credits and degrees in this department will be conferred by the university. From the largest bond issue of five the university, the bond issue of the common schools, the colored people of the city will get two new junior high schools an elementary school from the white to the colored department and two new high schools and others. The building program involved a run to $800,000 or more, and the $100,000 red will carry the total beyond a million dollars. The Associated Negro Press has a strong reputation as a Wright's strategic position and availability by a number of well-known journalists in a capital of Philadelphia. They are present in sayings like "The Wrights are hard and remarkable ability of Mr. Edward H. Wright is one of the ablest lawyers in America," is the title of a book by U. S. assistant U. S. attorney general, A. M. Cobb, former national political leader in America. I would like to see him get into national politics. Cobb, former assistant U. S. district attorney, stated "H. E. Wright is one of the many groups of any group in political knowledge. He has character, position, or experience that makes him the time is ripe for a man, from such important center as Chicago. This same line of argument was expressed by many others to the Anarchist movement, and has been brought to a focus by the trend of politics in the American presidency, of the president's message referring to the Negro leaders of the administration, but is being taken advantage of by racial insurrectionism that when atauk republican papers would have sung the anarchist message, they have used as many choice words in their arguments about motive, there would have been either silence or a lack of enthusiasm in influential newspapers like the Afro-American, Pittsburgh Courrier, Journals, Chicago Defender, Chicago Bee, and others from every section of the country take issue, this condition reflects the importance that could be remembered, too, that the newspapers did not wait one or two weeks to see what others had to do. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field keep watch over their flocks by the fire. And, Io, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord came about them; and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them not for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And a wildflower with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men—St. Luke 2:814. This is an old, old story, but it grows sweeter and more sublime with each succeeding age. Years have failed to dim its lustre neither has time effaced its holy glory and transcendent grandeur. Poets have sung of it in notes of sweet acclaim, while prophets, priests and kings have proclaimed it far and wide. Mothers have recited it around the family hearth, while children listened with abated breath. For nearly 2000 years Christendom has been thrilled and its constituents rendered happy and jubilant at the annual celebration of His natal day, which means so much to civilization and the human family. It was first proclaimed to the shepherds during the nocturnal hours as they watched their flocks on the quaint and historic hills of Judas; as the stars their vigils kept and while sleep held dominion over the land. In the stillness and tranquility of that memorable night, when all nature was hushed in silence and as "the heavens were declaring the glory of God and the firmaments were showing forth His handwork," an angelic voice broke the "good tidings of great joy" to those vigilant custodians of the sheep, in a voice clear, distinct and unmistakable. As this heavenly ambassador gave out the glad tidings, heaven's angelic choir broke forth in one of the sweetest, most harmonious and sonorous antiphonal anthems ever heard by mortal ears, saying, "Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men." Truly no music since the dawn of creation proclaimed a greater message to mankind; nor has any been written or sung since without this great Gift forming the main motif and chief theme. "Peace on earth?" If men and nations would only be guided in their dealings and relations with each other by the terms of the Golden Rule—"Whatsoever ye would that men do unto you, do ye even no unto them"—the clash of martial arms would be heard no more on the bloody battlefields and men and nations would study war no more. But only through the Christ idea and principle can an era of peace be ushered in between the sons of men and nations of the earth. The Houston Informer principles of the lowly Nazarene as our guide, class and race prejudice and antipathy would flee in their wake as mist before the morning's sum, as the fiery steeds of Phasian step majestically and proudly from their oriental mable to their occidental abode, dispersing their lucient and radiant rays upon Mater Terra. It is very meet that annually mankind is reminded of this holy and epocal occasion; when the spirit of good will and distribution of gifts constitute our chief program. The birth of the Prince of Peace was the beginning of a new period in the history of man. Before His birth selflessness reigned supreme and the Mosia retaliatory ordinance prompted men in their dealings one with the other. Christ, in later years, taught a doctrine of love, unselfishness and forgiveness, of devotion and consecration rather than ceremony and ostentatious modes of worship; He both preached and taught the doctrine of the fatherhood of God and brotherhood of man by precept and example. He was the founder and most pronounced advocate of religious democracy and established the first and only religious creed that embraces the whole human family. He gave to the world Christianity, an inclusive rather than an exclusive religion. The real Christmas spirit is to help those in need. Our giving should not be done on a reciprocal basis: giving those who are able to return in kind. As Christ was a gift to the sick—as He declared, the well need no physician—Christmas is robbed of its dearest treasure and greatest joy when it is divested of the spirit of making others happy through kindly deeds and priceless tokens of goodwill and cheer. May each of us shape our lives more after the principes the Christ Child came to establish. Thus it is at this season of the year that The Informer extends Yuletide compliments to its many readers and advertisers, with the wish that their Christmas will be merry and cheery. "Joy to the world! The Lord is come!" Let earth receive her King; Let every heart prepare Him room. And heaven and nature sing. "No more let sin and sorrow grow; Nor thorn infest the ground; He comes to make His blessings flow Far as the curse is found. "He rules the world with truth and grace, And makes the nations prosecute The glories of His righteousness. And makes the nations prosper." PUZZLING POLITICAL PARADOX. Recently The Informer carried a reprint from one of the local daily newspapers, same being an article from the pen of a staff correspondent of said daily from Austin, in which he asserted that there were rumblings in the democratic forests that the "white man's primary" would be discarded next year, and that the various democratic aspirants for the gubernatorial chair would engage in a free-for-all scramble for votes from colored Texans. This white correspondent based his argument on the fact that the Ferguson family would again enter the race, and would attempt to hold in the primary the large colored vote polled by Governor Ferguson last year. Being anxious to make a good showing and being compelled by state statute to hold a primary next year, the republicans will also want to reclaim the colored vote alienated and driven from the party by Butte and his Ku Klux "illly-white" regime in the 1924 election, according to the aforementioned correspondent, and thus the black man will become a political entity of the first rank in 1926. Be this as it will or may, the fact remains that thousands of colored Texans supported the democratic nominee for governor of Texas in 1924, and, since this is true, what is the real political status of the colored voters who cast their ballots for "Ma" Ferguson? Heretofore many white voters, who supported the democratic state ticket and the republican presidential electors, have never been considered anything save democrats, and no effort has been attempted to prevent them voting in the democratic primaries at subsequent elections. If voting for the democratic nominee for governor qualifies white voters as democrats, how will this same rule work when it comes to colored voters? In other words, if the thousands of colored voters who supported and voted for Governor Ferguson in 1924 were democrats then, what are they now, politically speaking, and what will they be in 1926? If the republican candidate for governor could poll more than 300,000 votes in 1924 with about 95 per cent of the colored voters casting a ballot for the democratic state ticket, particularly governor, will the republican leaders make any serious effort to regain and reclaim these electors? Having repudiated the republican party and its candidates in the state, will the colored voters want to return to the so-called republican party in 1926? If denied the right to vote in the democratic primary on the ground of color, in 1926, what consideration will be accorded these same colored voters for their loyalty to and support of democratic candidates in 1924? Expressed differently, if a colored man were good enough and had sense enough to vote intelligently in 1924 for democratic nominees, will he be good enough and have sufficient gumption in 1926 to cast an intelligent vote in the democratic primary? If a wagon or cart is sufficiently strong to convey a barrel full of water for any given distance, does it not stand to reason that the same wagon or cart is strong enough to transport an empty barrel the same distance? Since the democratic "white man's primary" has about outlived its days of usefulness, would not 1926 be just about as good as any other year to place this perilous political practice in the junkpile? The Informer makes no predictions nor utters any prophecies just now, being content to engage in the game of "watchful waiting"; for there is many a slip between the cup and the lip. One thing is certain and sure: The Texas Democrats have done worse and will do worse than merely discarding their "white man's primary" and permitting all free American citizens to cast a vote in their primary elections!
