RACE NEWSPAPERS "INDICTED."
We have been reliably informed that Rev. S. W. Houston, chairman of the Commission on Interracial Co-operation, made a serious indictment of Houston at a meeting of the colored commissioners last Friday night, when he revered charged that the Negro newspapers of Houston would not co-operate with that lack of co-operation on the part of the local race papers was somewhat hampering the cause of interracial co-operation.
If the reverend made such a statement or charge, indisputably he was able to cooperate possible and consistent with the paper he has endeavored to lend all the cooperation possible and consistent with the reverend's charge. It officially is the Informer. We comment on the material and comment for many and obvious reasons, and for many and obvious reasons that "Richardson is not with our commission." One more on-one occasion we have commended the efforts and recounted the accomplishments of the reverend in the materials in the Informer touching upon the work of the commission in this We cannot speak for the two other race publications in this city but that the commission, often refraining from criticism, even liberal, with the local commission, to land and praise when something worthwhile (we say worthwhile) was

Before leaving the city, Mr. Polk, in discussing Mr. Rutherford's visit and impressions, no subject can exceed in importance to obtain a larger measure of economic success as a race. Carter is the basilus, The Informer is delighted to dedicate this issue as "National Negro Achievement Week" edition; and we take this occasion to express our deep sense of appreciation to Brothers Carter, Barclay, Ryan, Stocks and others of the local chapter, as well as those who are neither members of the local nor of the colored group, for the part all of them have played in making possible this edition.
In keeping with the four cardinal principles of Omega—manhood, scholarship, perseverance and uplift—the supreme council of the fraternity has written into the basic laws that a certain time shall be set aside each year to conduct educational campaigns in the various communities for the study of Negro history and literature, and to inspire the youths of the race along nobler, higher and more ennobling lines; for where the people have no vision and receive no inspiration, they perish, and great is their fall!
PROF. JAMES D. RYAN Keeper of Finance
Brother Ryan, familiarly known as little Jimmy, graduated of Pratt Institute in 1971 and taken post-courses in some of the leading institutions in the learning in the Northwest. Yates High School, academy worthy recorders of the Ancient Order of Pillars of Eternity, and the Institute of Enamulation Park and Houston Negro Hospital, former principal institution in Tritary M. E. Chuck, member International Commission, exalted rate of education.
Hemmed in and circumscribed as we are in this country, with all text-books and literature coming from the pens and brains of members of other races, and with a perennial doctrine being promulgated about the "inferiority complex" of the colored American, our racial contingent needs to conduct campaigns to give people a different view of themselves and to assist them in knowing what is wrong with them. The most philosophers became immortal by his doctrine of "know thyself," and the Holy Writ teaches that a man is as he thinks.
Edgar A. Love, Aearan J. Cooper,
Frank Coleman, in company with Prof.
E. K. Just, thus becoming the first of
their kind of organizations organized
in a New Jersey city.
As long as the Negro race can be lulled to sleep by the siren chant of "racial inferiority" of its group, and the "racial superiority" of other groups, our race can make very little headway and progress along educational, moral, cultural, commercial, civic and religious lines; for no man or race can accomplish much for his interment with nothing within him or it to inspire and fire him or it.
In the early days the fraternity restricted its membership to unu-
sted students, but in the past it has believed of graduates that all college fraternities were merely social organizations, and the fraternity knew the value of uniting themselves to altar-like higher standards of manhood in their group, consequently the gorm, Omega, spread across the country and are located in most of the leading college and universities throughout the world.
It is said that the educational system of Japan includes a graveyard course once per annum, at which time the students in the schools of Japan are conducted to the cemeteries, and there given much inspiration by reading the epitaphs on the tombstones of the illustrious dead of their race, and catching inspiration, as it were, from the spirits of the departed.
A. B. C.
With this inspiration and spirit, the Japanese youth are imbued with an intangible and invisible asset that fires and equips them for greater service to their race and nation, and that causes them to take undue pride in their race, their forbears and the contributions made by these illustrious sires who now rest from their labs, but whose works live long after their bodies have decomposed and returned to Mother Earth. As a racial group, we do not know enough about the good traits, fine points and wonderful achievements of our own race; for we daily read and hear so much about our race of a discreditable and derogatory nature that we are practically obsessed with an "inferiority complex," and we too often agree readily with those who lag behind our own race in merely ordained to serve in the role of hewer of wood and drawer. This doctrine is very fallacious, but it seems to have had the desired effect upon too many members of our race, and National Negro Achievement Week is being sponsored to more fully acquaint us with our own history, and to afford us an opportunity to read first-hand some of the literature produced by men and women of our own race, and to learn something about the laudable and the important Negroes have made to the civilization of America and the world.
PROF. E. A. CHESTER
Keeper of Peace
Therefore, National Negro Achievement Week is both in inspirational, informational and instructional; and the Informer is not only pleased to co-operate with the local and national bodies of Omega Psi Phi fraternity in disseminating the information and suggesting the observance of this occasion, but this paper also hopes that this week will be fittingly observed in all parts of the country, and from and from this small seed will terminate and grow a mighty plant, which only our own racial group, but other racial groups will find shelter, succor and protection from the parching rays of ignorance, superstition, bigotry, intolerance and prejudice. "So mote it be!"
Brother Chester is a graduate of Wiley College and was connected with the late Dr. W. T. Washings, who served as the dean. Dr. W. T. Washings, Y. M. C. M. A. secretary, also connected with the food administration department of dependent High school, member of dependent High school, member and one of the most promising young men connected with the local public school.
GILBERT T. STOCKS
Chapelain
Brother Stocks, executive secretary of the Houston Y. M. C. A., is a naming commissioner for Baptist Institute, Augusta, Ga., and Morehouse College, Atlanta, Ga. He won scholarships for three consecutive years and a B. degree in 1993 as valedictorian of his class. He has taught at West Point College, College of Applied Science, University, Nashville, Tenn., (where he was dean for several years), and College of Medicine. He also saw army service during the World War, and accepted his present position here during September of 1993 as a worker, full of ambition and optimism, fornis on the west, to Howard in the east, from the University of McGill in the north.
Seeing the value of such an organization spills in the college walls, we are realizing that the fraternity had a great contribution and maybe a greater contribution than it had within the college walls. There are colleges over the country, where sufficient group of college men were assembled. The problem is to bring about a union of college men of similar ideals to desisnslate those with whom it comes in contact. The conspicuous place in the civil life of the nation. At present there are 61 colleges.
The principles upon which this fraternity is based are set forth in four

words: manhood, scholarship, experience, and aptitude. Fraternity, friendship, and school attunements, with three two qualities being developed there, are the most perseverance and guilt—for they will fall in as naturally as scholarship does.

UNLESS OUR PEOPLE

(BY H. P. GARTER).
Unless people have a vision they perish. In fact the frames of our conquest have been doubting the same thing in mind for years promoting our ideals of manhood, scholarship, perseverance and uplift.
"The supreme council shall set aside a certain time each year when the communities of our communities for the study of Nero history and literature," he said. "Two of our graduates leaving college know much of their origin and progress. They know little of our racial history. They know little of the genius of Dunbar, Dett, Coleridge Taylor, Cullen, Hughens, Hays, Chake, Cullen and their places in history. Our pupil schools have no mention of them. Our Nero achievement week project is promising."

"MEET THE WIFE" AT PALACE NEXT WEEK
Manager Film of the Palace Players, whose season of stock is the Palace Players, is directed by the theatre-goers of this city, announced that he has secured for productions the widely known comedy, "Me the Wife," which achieved a distinct audience of 100,000 cities. This play was produced by Stewart and French, the producers of the comedy, which is doing tremendous business in the city. "Me the Wife" is something more than a comedy. The author and producer of the play, the little girl, not only contains everything that is best in American comedy, but it also sparkles with French flames, with all of the suggestiveness left out. The play is 'linguistic, but to tell it in cold type would be to tell it in cold type would be to will so many surprises, there are many of surprises and unusual situations, and there is惊喜 a moment of the humor beyond the footlights is not sending the audience into screams of excitement, there are many in the hands of Dorothy Bunting, the lady, and James Billings leading me.
