It will be remembered that the state court failed and the congressional election, yet all the congressional election, yet all the supporters contended that he was the winner at the polls, and that certain election officials in Hexas County had been charged enough bills to declare having proven his case to the satisfaction of his congressional colleagues, and having shown that he was not a robber to rob him of the election, Congressman his party and state a signal service. Not only was Congressman Wurzbach fought bitterly by his Democratess, but he was also a backer, certain prominent Republican leaders worked, with might and made him a legal ally and subsequent to the 1928 election that Democrats entered into a coalition with the左one Republican solon in the United States home of representatives from all states, and with crooked and designated members into a coalition to meet the most cheat him out of his well earned victory, the Seymour hawker man who was in one of the most sensational and important supporters his kind in the history of this state.
With his congressional seat assured waiting for over one year and with his nomination due to be held November 4, 1930, Congress will be represented for reflection, while it is expected that Judge McClouse will again enter the Democratic primaries to represent. With the Republicans being compelled to hold primaries in Texas this fall, the Democrats will receive national candidate received more than 100,000 votes in the 1928 general election, opposed to Mr. Wurbach will more likely trot out some candidate to oppose the congressman in the primaries. Unquestionably this victory of Congressman Wurbach with the National Committee r. B. R. Crager of Brownville, who has sought repatriation from Guadalupe County. According to political dopers, not only will the Democrats be politician during the summer season, but the Republicans, themselves, will be for ten years Mr. Wurbach has represented his district in the lower courts, up a large and substantial following and his resignation is virtually assured to succeed himself in congress.
Walle discusses politics and candidate the question of the role of R. B. Pierce, a post-Republican county chairman of Harris County, will soon boom to the force for Mr. Pierce to lead the county collector of customers at the port of Galveston succeeding Colonel Robert I. Mr. Pierce should be chosen for Harris City position before the July 11 election, he will assume the portfolio long before the Republican executive committee will be called upon to fill the vacancy, and the appointee will hold office until the next election. The primaries, committee is wise and makes a good selection, the Republican party in this city and county should make rapid advances, but if the committee does not succeed, growth will be dwarfed and retreated. From our angle, T. P. Lee, prominent Republican and one of Houston's most influential as the logical successor to Mr. Pierce, lee possesses certain definite and fixed ideas about party development and growth and he would make sure that he would be persuaded to accept the post. Americans generally regret that continued illiteracy and advancing years

"SOME time ago my complexion was in a terrible condition—dark splotches and very bumpy. We were trying to dispel this with local treatments, but nothing I did seemed to help me. My food did not seem to agree with me. I seemed to have indigestion most of the time. My mother advised me to take Black-Draught, and I have been glad that I did. It cleared up my complexion. Pickens Will Edit Special Number of Paper In Germany
New York City—(ANP)—Priedenfront," a German newspaper, with contributions from Negroes all over the world, to inwrite an all-Negro newspaper, the editor of the ANP, has been asked to edit a special number.
Articles can be written in English, German, or French, but not written in German will be translated into German by the editors.
"Priedenfront" is a twin publication, both papers are mainly devoted to the cause of international and social peace movements in Germany.
The impression made by Mr. Pickles on German last July and August has borne fruit. A German leader in Frankfurt remarked that the German press speaks the language of the German Academy of Literature.
The first publication in all Europe to have an issue produced entirely by an Negro was a suggestion to other European periodicals.
All articles and poems for this issue are to be sent to William Pickons, Macon Street, Brooklyn, New York.

But today, in the second generation, skeptics are abroad among this group,启蒙者,启蒙者 now their legal title. Among Americans of the dominant group they are beginning and the end of wisdom.
Among these skeptics are men civil-bearers. Among them are men beginning and the end of wisdom.
Such men sometimes impress by sheer prestige, despite a meager income. Among the Negro people to Abraham Lincoln by reason of tremendous achievements, however brilliant. Natural impulse, more powerful than subtle abstraction, however brilliant. Natural love. And never was man more love. And never was love of a people than Abraham Lincoln.

WILL ASSIST IN CENSUS TAKING
Washington, D. C. — (ANP)—That the prospects for a complete and more accurate enumeration of the Negro population in the 1930s brighter for the 1930 census than has been true in any other decade, is apparent through the announcement that Negro leaders in all sections of the country are national a dvisory committee which William M. Steuart, director of the census, believes can give valuable assistance in the work among Negroes. This national advisory committee is to be Dr. Robert R. Moton of Tuskegee.
DR. ROBERT RUSSA MOTON
This committee, whose position in relation to the official census-taking posed of men and women in all sections of the country where Negroes gave their advice and general assistance to the government problems of enumeration among Negroes wherever their aid is desired superior in any particular district.
The director of the census has given the general policy that superviseors in the department should employ Negro enumerators as far as possible. Where there are congested areas, they need the aid of colorful advisors, render service in recommending the most competent men and women to serve as enumerators. The advisory committee will also be expected to use their influence to encourage the importance of the census so that satisfactory, truthful answers may be obtained to the needs.
Many Answers Are Sought
Among the questions to which answers will be sought in the coming months are: What are America's working families owning made up? What person owns homes? At what age are most families owning homes? There will be many other questions designed to obtain other information, but no one can be so naïve that a correct answer to any question will any embody an answer, for as President Hoover has said: "the sole purpose of the census is to seize property and resources of the country, and replies are to mit the compilation of such general information with taxation, with military jury service, with the compilation of any national data, or local data, to mit the fear that any disclosure will be made regarding any individual person or property."

COLORED ACTORS NOTED SPEAKERS ARE NOT LOSING HEARD AT WILEY: FAVOR SAYS STAR FINE PLAY GIVEN
Philadelphia, Pa.—(ANP)-Negro actors, actresses, composers and authors are not losing favor with white audiences and leading producers, are not attempting to discriminate against the race in the view of Miss Evelyn Elys, recognized as one of the Negro actresses of the country.
"The report that the Radio-Kettering and associate theatrical circles on the ground are losing on visitor attractions is merely an understatement," she wrote here at the Broad Street Theatre in "Porg," a Neriod dramatic study that has ranked high by dramatic critics.
"The real fact in it," she continued, "Broadway producers are tumbling on efforts to obtain recognized Neroid talent for their spring productions, a same group, and in the resultant financial tangle, this propaganda is real."
"An example of the recognition of the Negro as a dramatic artist and character, is the announcement of Ebberry托莉 that she will not play in the Broadway production of Sister Mary," feeling a capable Negro actress could do it more justice. And this despite her recognized ability.
"Ill admit that Negro vaudeville and dramatics were forced on white audiences by producers, frank for something new to whet the appetite of a shaggy new audience public. But real Negro characters and customs found a place in the public imagination and I think have a real contribution to the American stage."

SPURIOUS RACIAL LEADERSHIP _| sunt. down ter Hustin fer me ter set
| Devotees of baseball and football have seen many games lost
because of poor leadership; because at the erucial moment: the
‘manager or eaptain or the quarterback failed to flash the play to
wrest victory from the jaws of defeat, or check the offensive of
| their opponents.
| Leadership is a very important factor, not only in the realm of
athletics, but in all lines of Kuman endeavor where éoncerted ae-
tion is imperative to the success of the cause.
No gridiron aggregation or baseball team can make a respecta-
ble showing under the direction and guidance of incompetent lead
rs and, racially speaking, this is just as true, if not more 80,
‘Before baseball club owners will choose «nian as manager of a
‘team, he must have demonstrated certain outstanding qualities
‘of leadership, and most colleges select coaches under the same
ireumstances.
Before a gridster is picked 2s captain of his eleven, or before
player is named as captain of a baseball elub, his ability to lead
his fellows must be or should be a proven fact.
Races should select, their loaders because of their eapacity to
harness and direct, intelligently and constructively, racial forees
along proper lines, and, to teach both by precept and example tn
putting over the race's ‘program.
Spurious leaders are not only a millstone around the neck of
‘the cause, but a curse; and the men who are elevated to plices of
leadership among any group should be loyal and faithful to the
very core.
‘Moses was an outstanding leader because he elected to endure
te hardghipe with his own people rather than enjoy the eae and
luxury of the Pharaonic palace; because he did not choose the
lino of least resistance and made no effort to render service dtr!
‘mental to his race and its cause,
‘Because Moses had exemplified the characteristics of a gen-
wing leader during his early life, he was chosen for the onerous
task of leading his people from Egyptian bondage, and only a
‘Moses could have made possible the liberation of his people from
‘uch human thralldom and servitude,
‘To measure arms with contemporancous races, a race must se-
lect its own leaders and must not submit to and be misled. and
Deguiled by either superimposed or self-appointed leaders, who
will betray’ and double-cross thelr followers,-and eommit such acts
that reflect discredit upon themselves and the race they are at
tempting to serve and lead, *
‘No man is fit to serve a8 1 racial lender who is always trying
to “sell ot” his race and who is ever ready and willing to barter
his birthright for # mere mess of pottage—temporary personal
xain. y
‘Money, material possessions and high honors, per se, do. not
qualify a'man for leadership, for none of these materialistic things
Gan produce eharacter.‘They may be the means to an end, but
hot the end.
Until the Negro race dispenses with and relegates to oblivion
these spurious, self-serving and race-tradueing leaders, its racial
team will suffer many setbacks and defeats on the gridiron of
life, and its sojourn in the wilderness of oppression and repression
will be marked and marred by its prolongation and resultant suf
