EDITORIAL
Spend your money with us and get receipts,
No justice for kans ? Negroes—
eW Hoch:
Man, who go for being smart
generally plays 'bum,'
This paper is republican but no
Hoch business goes.
Kansas City is bettter than Topeka Kansas - Fred L. Jeltz,
"Mr. Hoch lived down south to long. — Nice Chiles.
We'll get them all over Kansas the State Legislature
It you desire to, make a fight on the city, administration.
Big Negroes clamor for more jobs that amount to nothing.
Mrs Nation has sold her Topeka interest for $7,000 in cold cash.
J. R. Kinnie won the piano contest and K. Raub won the watch.
S. B. kutz is no more in the council he is licked—gone and forgotten.
This paper shall oppose all classes who do not work for an honest living.
Goodwin will make a fine chief if Blauer and Schooch ere on his staff.
Kau City runs excursions, here by the week whisky is galore in Topeka.
We expect to even up with all the scoundrels that trico to even up with us.
This paper is not run in the interest of any special faction or class all money looks alike to us.
The jointist who get their money from Kansas should be decent else something is going to fail.
Wm Hatcher was seriously hurt by a cave in on the South Topeka sewer a few weeks ago.
The result of the election of the President last fall has nothing to do with a special class representative like Hoeh.
I Sorry to say the republicans have turned their backs on Lincoln, Summer, Webster, Lovejoy and the whole push."
We owe no allegiance to any special faction why should we Hoch has discriminated against the colored people
We are going after any low devil who tries to buldoze us in our position, be he white as you call it or lack as you know "it".
If the people like to read a journal that tells the story as it is told to them, read the Ledger no "humbug" goes:
Colored men who wait and need jobs are in a very serious position just now by reason of Mr Hochs attitude regarding the separation of schools in (this state) Kansas. City.
It must be understood that the best class of colored people are as much oppose to the bad Nagro as the best class of white people, as we do not harbor crime.
The new police force seems to treat with favor all parties thus far concerned can get a job. Politics are henceforth in name. friendship goes and blood is thicker than water wha. care Davis for politics.
Chief Goodwin, has said all: the low num places must go. Correct you are and the first robbery and fight occurs in the high tone places they too should turn their pictures to the wall.
Old man Hoch will see better days when he serves his two years the people have given him. A one termer is generally a stumbling block in the way of progressive and conservative men, so Hoch might as well look for greener fields. He will, and must be defeated.
The State Ledger.
DO RIGHT--KNOW THAT YOU ARE RIGHT; FEL NOMAN; BUT RANDER JUSTICE TO ALL.
J. S. Grice, the Grocer, 903 W 6th St. is being highly spoken of for Sheriff of Shawnee county; to succeed Lucas the present incumbent for that place. Mr. Grice has been in business here for twenty years he is really one among the most prominent business men in this city, and a large number of his friends are urging him to assemble to the use of his name for the nomination.
COLONIAL
11 EAST SIXTH AVE.
When you are in need of groceries call on the Colonial Grocery they will sell you good goods cheap Give them a tria order 111 East Sixth Aye.
Alone is as lead as 'Hecks Pup' not even the county clerk who hates Negros so, nor the district clerk would be introduced to a rego paper. A feil rapped us but done us good we did not see the sherif-berhaps for the above bomb hast be might have put us in jail.
Some thief or brute stole our old favorite steed last week by prying of the staples on the inside of our barn at 612 Lace st. We have been lying awake-- nights to introduce a few riffle bullets to his hide We hope he returns.
REMOVAL OF
STAR GROCERY
Having moved our stock, of groceries and inns to all Kans, Awe we desire to reduce our enormous stock to accommodate our present quarters. To that end we have reduced our prices to absolute cost of many of our staple articles. We would be pleased to have all of our old customers and a great many new ones to come and get Jacquine fed and see for yourself.
Thanking you for past favors, and kindly soliciting a continuance of your patronage.
I am yours truly,
E. Montgomery
Their are some liars that all ways think it smart to try to give us the worst of it.
The joints have all been closed here - Sundays.
Why don't you pay for this paper you are reading now?
Quit living all your duty by those as you wish to be done by.
The editor has been out of the city for a few days:
John Hall lost his life on the South Topeka sewer last Friday, the sewer is dangerous. Hall's wife gets a little money thats all.
The Judge who delivered a lecture before the Chicago feast and banquet told the truth when he said that thousand of innocent men are hung every year because police officers are anxious for a conviction of their efforts.
Hoch pardoning Negro criminals and vicious onavacters does not meet with any regard among the best people or kans. They will come back here and do the same dirty job over and get us all in trouble. Mr. Hoch will find that low Negro characters cuts little or no ice in the year 1906.
They say the party who assaulted Mrs Griffith at Coffeyville on April 11th was a white brute, it might be so. Two white masked brutes held up a young lady arkansas city destroyed her vulture and made their escape of course you know its hard to find "Jack the ripper."
Prof. Vernon the only Negro that we know with take the stump for Hoch will find himself in a nest of snakes when he comes again
The large list of Hoch's appointments with machine a o init machine does not even show the name of e Negro Is it right for a republican Gov. to act as a terror to our race an opposer "any thing to please a white man."
This per may be on earth when Heech runs for office again. The beds in the gover ors mansion on Ruchanan street may be all right to him but we want the foreigner to know that we shall see him move with better satisfaction.
Gov. Hoch starts of with many
mistakes says "comment."
Green Jones a brother of J. B.
Joes of this city has been with the
Purcell Mer. Co. of Maunattan for
o years. Mr. Jones is an able citizen
and has done much to solve the very
"difficult" race problem by u-
rchasing land, educating his child
drn, one daughter teaches in the
public schools of Maunattan, a
bright young lady.
Our readers will not forget that
last years accounts has nothing o
do with this year
