CHURCH OF TEXAS TO BE THE GUEST OF DALLAS The State meeting of the W. H. & M. Bociety in to hold its annual meeting from the 18th to the 17th of the present month. This will bring to the State the Christian workers it has had for a long while. All of the churches of the country will be invited to the visitors and make a meeting a success. The sessions will be on Wednesday, August 13, with Mrs. L. M. Hughes, presiding. Mrs. Hughes has served as president of the State for years, but at the quadrennial meeting in Macon, Ga., last year, she was selected president and will turn over the State work to another. Several of the prominent workers of the State have been invited to Mrs. Hughes. Among whom are Mrs. W. D. Miller, of Waco; Mrs. C. Cary of Waco; Mrs. J. P. William, Mrs. Jones of Waco; Mrs. S. J. NEGRO AUTOMOBILE RACING NEGRO AUTOMOBILE RACING News reports have it that at the nationally known speedway in Indianapolis there will be a series of races in which only Nero drivers will compete. Already there are many contests and many thousand tickets have been sold for the occasion. This sport among our people will not by any means be ignored. We have all had fair to make it as well known as baseball and the other forms of sport that are popular in our country. This is as it should be. It should happen that we should seek enlightenment and that we should mind that bring pleasure and prof. and it which tend to make of us the same sort of folks as are all of us. A greater participation in contexts of this sort will do much to increase the spirit of philosophy that has been inculcated in us of the desire to know more about the world from all of those things that savor of chance and danger because of the chances that they Dallas and its First National Gathering It is probably true that little or no thought is commonly given to the importance of protection, because it empowers us but it is a fact that it colors the majority of our actions. The significance of our leaders in crucial moments but their failures are being drilled into them by generations of repressions of those instances that lead human beings to fear. Fear is the greatest enemy of all human kind. And to us in this world, we must be in that it beads us to see danger where there is none and to become a panic stricken victim. And just as the highest degree of praise is but just in the case of those who did the best of which they were capable for the success of this meeting so it is just to condemn in no uncertain terms those who by their lack of interest and pure refusal to aid in the success of the project would have caused the reputation of the state to be endangered. And it is a fact that there were those who did fall miserably in this regard. And the most unfortunate feature of it all is that they were members of the teaching profession of this city and state. There were some of the teachers of Dallas who failed miserably and refused to aid in any way in making of this meeting the success which was bequeathed for Let the racing game become popular among us. In Dallas there were principals who refused to aid in any way in the financing of the meeting. And not only that. They refused to urge their teachers to help in any way in the plans for it. In the state at large, there were principals, teachers, and students who challenged the idea to put in their appearance or to make it known by any means that they had any interest in it. They had no concession of their duty as members of the profession. They were ignorant of their duty as hosts. They had no sense of responsibility for the reputation of the states in which they lived and worked and from which they draw all of their support. Too much censure cannot be given them. They failed when contribution counted. They have their flea-like soils and from now on they should be made to feel the sting of public disapproval. Texas needs no such small men to lead their children. Their vision is too cramped. The lessons which they teach must of necessity be Colored with some color. The children will fail to see fully and sense clearly their duty to their state, city or other units of which they in future time may become parts. ```markdown ``` That the Negro voters of Delaware have become thoroughly disgusted with the attitude of the Republican Party in that state and are willing to cast their allegiances to another party if the conditions of which they complain are not remedied is gleaned from news dispatches making public a set of resolutions passed recently by a conference of the voters of the state. The resolutions deplore the lack of opportunity that is granted Negro lawyers to practice before the bar and the general lack of recognition that characterizes the party leaders in the state. Says the resolution: From the newspaper articles it appears that the colored people are getting the European haemophilia. Some of some prominent colored man from some part of the country who is visiting Europe--some going for study and some for travel. Some are college men and some are "For more than 50 years the Colored voters of Delaware have consistently supported the Republican party has been in continuous control of the state government for the past twenty-five years no Colored man has been permitted to practice law in any of the courts of Delaware, a state that has the unenviable distinction being the only state in the union that debates Colored men from practicing law. Mary stepped into the kingdom first, 11:10 Thursday night July 10 and at 1:20 Friday morning July 11. Mrs. Wittenberg joked her daughter, and there is sadness in that house, but they must not be ripped out, and each one must some day join them. For five years he remained in school and she was a teacher. He helped children and assisting him. He has panored in Paulette, Painting Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mississippi, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, then the church of his youth, St. James, New Orleans, and from it to Allen Chapel, Kansas City. Wittemberg was in Louisville, KY, attending the genetics institute, he took to her bed, but did not inform him, because he was in Louisville on a mission and I remember he was a friend, I remember when I passed thrice early in June, she told me that she was going to be a nurse, as I had been in fighting the bugs, but she would go home. I tried to go home, but I was not able to night to help me when I was suffering in her home just one year ago. I would not want to drift away. Mary Vivian Wittenberg took sick in June, and her mother realised she would have to go and points to die, and only wanted that she die first. Both were confined in the same hospital and she had to be taken to Wittenberg an effort was made to keep the condition of her daughter from her, but shortly after she was taken she received a direct message, she then said "Mary has gone and I am gone also," and after that she said "Lord have mercy upon my husband, he is too good a Christian to bear all of. Lord have mercy upon the words on her lips she was placed back in bed and soon her soul took its flight to the God of heaven, and six children, William, Flora Junita, Edward, Margaret and Bobbie, and other relatives and Thousands of people gathered at Allen Chapel Monday July 14 to pay tribute to Wittenberg, the daughter, Mary Vivian. Many were unable to get even as claustro as the church where they were present, and many of them took part in the funeral. The cries were present and many of them delivered eulogies. Rev. and Mrs. Wittenberg were my friends, and their home was now in the church. Now, the children all think much of Col. J. O. Middight and are ever ready to do something.
