Editor of Metropolis Gazette:
I thought I would drop a few lines in your paper to inform the Baptist just how I stand with reference to the up-heavel that certain men are trying to create in this end of the state. As president of the minister's and deacon's Institute I know of no brother or sister or church that is disatisfied with the way things are being run. I mean those that have been in the district long enough to be acquainted with the work. And for men to come into the district and attempt to organize another association just because they cannot run things, ought to be ashamed of themselves. Every Baptist in this end ought to put the seal of condemnation on the move. As a minister, I shall stand by the churches and brethren that have made the district under God, just what it is. I have read some of the minutes of the other associations and I have not read of any that are doing a greater work than the Baptist are doing in the district. I know of none that quit them, especially the East Mt. Olive. It is commonly called by the White Baptist, "the little progressive association." The Mt. Pleasant church, Goleonda, stands o. k., for the old time saith. Eld. A. F. Daniels, of Md. City sounded a timely, warning. I speak a again it may cause someone else to speak out as it did me. The man that is leading the untimely move ought to be engaged in a better work.

and Mississippi. It is a shame for them to come and tear them up and our fathers are sleeping in the graves. It it were possible they would get restless in the grave.
I read a little paper Sunday that one of my members got hold of from Cairo. They were told not to let me see it. It said there is a move on to organize another association on the 12 and 13 inst.
When I came to the state everything did not please me, nor did everything please me, but why should I want to tear up a thing because it did not go my way.
I don't know so much, neither am I an expert but I have too much God in me to tear up an association church.
I feel the Holy Spirit dictating to me this morning; with tears in my eyes and sorrow in my heart I am writing. I am with the Mt. Olive association always and I

Please give me space to say the St John church is moving along nicely both spiritually and financially. We have good service every Sunday and are planning for a big rally in the spring.
Now I will say I am really disgusted at some of our strange brethren that have not been in the district long enough for their traces to get cold and are trying to spit the district. It is a shame before God and to see some of our church es following them. The Lord said my sheep hear my voice and a stranger they will not follow. I think they ought to read the General Epistle of Jude, then they would not be guilty of such an act. BELIEF PRISONER CANNOT GET FAIR TRIAL DOWN SOUTH
New York, Jan. 28 — The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, 70 Fifth avenue, New York, today announced that it had been telegraphed Governor Allen of Kansas requesting that he postpone extradition from Kansas of Robert Hill, alleged leader of Negroes in the Arkansas race riots.
"Hull cannot receive a fair trial in Arkansas," says the statement. "Juries from which Colored men were excluded sentenced five Colored men to death in a trial lasting only 45 minutes. Witnesses were not put on the stand in their behalf. Governor McCall of Massachusetts in 1918 denied extradition of John Johnson, Negro to West Virginia on similar grounds." The Association announces that it has taken steps to employ counsel to oppose extradition of Hir to Arkansas."

Dear Editor, I read in the on Review some time ago an article stating that Dr. Morris, named One hundred ministers to a little missionary work among the churches associations and conventions, and they have already begun the work assigned them, and so far as I can see that work is to disturb the peace of the churches, and causing division among the churches of our district and all of them are new men in this district and they have not been here long enough to wear a hole in the seat of their points, and they are trying to drag the churches out of the Mt Olive Association in order to organize an association of their own, or a Morris faction.
Now, if these preachers want an association of their own no one objects, but I do say in the name of all that is good that these brehren ought to look after the interest of their churches at home and let our churches and the other churches of the district alone that are in peace.
I wish to serve notice right here on the these preachers that are trying to disturb the peace of these churches that their services are not needed in Md City.
As for the First Missionary Baptist and Zion Traveler Baptist churches of this place are in the Mt Olive Baptist Association to stay; the Association organized a early three quarters of a century ago by our sainted fathers who left it in tact and in charge of real Baptists with Baptist principles handed down by Christ himself, as the bulwark of the Association and we propose to keep this old Baptist Banner flying or report to God the reason for not doing so. So the incorpo ated brethren who believe in disturbing the peace of churches and tearing down churches, had better buy tickets for another station.
I am yours for peace in the district.
Rev. A. F. Daniel.

I am a Baptist and am with the Mt. Olive association. If I was a Free Will I would join them. I do not believe as Dr. Olive believes. I do not believe in recognizing Free Will Ordination in pastoral charges in Baptist churches; neither do I believe in practising open communion. It makes me believe that Dr. Olive is trying to bring into the district the same contention as was in it a few years ago.
Why would the churches of this district go to work and condemn a thing, then turn around and take the same thing up and build it. They are not Baptists, they are following the preach and loosing sixt of Christ. The Bible says,

Warning To the Baptists
Warning To the Baptists
A warning is being given to the Baptist Churches of the Mt. Olive Baptist Association, that there is an attempt by some of the misisters of Cairo, Carbondale, Duquoin, and Harrisburg, led by one J. J. Olive of Cairo who's been in the State of Illinois possibly five years, and notwithstanding his great claim and interest for the welfare of the Baptist, he has never connected himself to the above named association or to the East Mt. Olive Association, nor given one dollar to ei her Association, so far as we are able to find out for District, State, Home or Forein Missions, The Old Ministers' Home or the Living ston Theological, Normal and Industrial School, an Institution owned by the Mt. Olive Baptist Association yet he and a number of preachers whom he has managed to mislead, bribe and prejudice demand of us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day, to surrender our positions, our churches, and to turn over to them all that has fallen to us as an heritage given by our Old Fathers who fell the trees, dug the stumps, ditched the swamps, cleared the ground, set up churches and organized this OLD Association sixty nine years ago that their names and work might be kept on perpeual record and that generations yet unborn might find shelter under the wings of this association which has alwys stood for freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of action. Because we refused to this last June at our S. S. Convention and again refused to yield to the same demands last September, at the Association we were informed by Rev. Dr. Olive, that he would organize another association if he could find men of his same wicked design, that of splitting the association and breaking the peace that otherwise existed in churches, and community ere he left Southern clime. This all is for leadership, without proving his competency for such a responsible position, cause a man that refuses to follow cannot make a successful leader. However, from the circular sent out by this sell constituted leader and advocate of Christ and his Kingdom (?) on earth has been enable to secure the willing services of men who appear to be of the same brood and the same kith and kin, men, who we thought were above the little petty jealousies, to allow the n to stoop to little things, but you cannot always tell what a man will do from what he says as some men's hearts are deceitful and desperately wicked. We all remember the sermon and talk made by Rev. E. L. Todd, of Cairo, at the S. S. Convention at Brookport, last June. Wonder if he remembers it? If he was right then his position is wrong now. Well a man has a right to change fronts if he so desires in the right.
The following ministers are responsible according to their circular issued by them, asking the churches and pastors to meet in Cairo, the 12-13 of Feb. at Mr. Olive's church on 19. St., to organize another Association, notwithstanding there are already two associations in the District: Rev, J J Olive, is prime mover and agitator; Revs Wm Bell, E L. Todd, T. A. Head, J. T. Brown, recently called to Mt. Moriah church, who recently came from Texas, and has never met any of us brehren; R A. Davis, another man we have never met, of Cairo; they are the committee. Rev. Wm. Moody of Carbon-dale, preaches the Introductory Sermon, E. L. Hunt, Du-Quoin, preaches the Dedicatory Sermon.
It will be clearly seen that all of these men are new in the district, except possibly Revs. Head, who is not actively engaged in the ministry but is a Justice of the Pea e; and Rev. Bell, and none of them property owners we are informed that are mentioned in this article. They are likely to be called at any time to churches out of the District or State and yet they are able to, like Lucifer of old lead off a few unsuspecting but otherwise good men who have listened to their false friends who will soon leave them stranded upon the sandhill of misrepresentation which they have built.

Gcd, they are the sons of God. Then we are not led by the spirit of God as we should be, if we were we would be ready to build up instead of tearing down. Churches, stand together for the association that was built by our fathers and left for us to carry on Years ago we followed every strange wind that beew, but we are solid now and are d term ned not to follow this wind because it comes from the South and all Southern winds are full of storms, tornadoes and the like and we are afraid that like one, we will get
It is a strange idea that ministers coming into the district fight against churches splitting, but turn around and lay same foundation to organize another a association contrary to law and Baptist doctrine and practice. Why do they do so? Are they Baptists from principle? We have too n any associations in the district now to support the work of missions We do not need to follow after Dr. Olive nor neither Dr. Morris, who caused the division in the National Convention. Let us practice what we preach. Rev. Geo. Brown
Right Always Wins
Bro. Editor:
Respecting your editorial last week requesting one and all that are for the Mt. Olive Baptist Association to pen a linz to the Gazette, will say your request shall be complied with.
You could have heard from me ere this, but I was giving back for the older ones in the race, but knowing as I do "the race is not given to the swift nor strong, but to the one that endureth to the end." I take up my pen and say without a doubt, "Right Always WINS."
For sixty-nine years the Mount Olive Baptist Association has borne the burdens of this life, for the same number of years it has been crying, "One Lord, One Faith and One Baptism, and for sixty-nine years more or less God led Living-ton, Knowles, Allison, Robinson, Hayes and many others who fought the fight, who stood the storms, who tried to live right, who studied to show themselves workmen and who trained us as children to always do right and right will win, we will make Solomon's saying true, we will never depart from it. Their work was a success and foot-prints will be seen for years to come. Three years ago God placed Rev. J. B. McCrary, upon the scene and he is leading the Baptists of the district on to victory, and now we have some who want to lead, knowing too they don't know how to lead a horse to water, and with their threats say we'll have another association. These men are not real Baptists. They are not out for Christ and His cause, but for popularity. We have too many dressed in the wrong clothes, too many that have been Methodists and Free Will's and who held their highest honors. Can you make me a Brown by birth when I am a McCrary?
The field is large. There is work for many more. Humanity is suffering. The cause is right and just. The work has been entrusted to our care. We must take whatever comes never failing to do right.
It the boys want another association, let them have it, God may be in the move. It He is not they know it and some day, soon or late we will too.
The Mt. Olive association has now to its credit four and a half acres of land in Metropolis, more than $1,000 in the City National Bank and ten or more churches, some brick, stone and frame, and last but not least some God sent ministers who want to do right, and never as long as the sun gives light by day and the moon by night bow down and worship any graven image or fall shorter than holding up the good old Baptist Principles.
Years ago we followed every strange wind that bew, but we are solid now and are d term ned not to follow this wind because it comes from the South and all Southern winds are full of storms, tornadoes and the like and we are afraid that like one, we will get our belongings lost in a flood and it will take years to recruit.

Corr Sec Ministers and Deacon's Union.

The GLOBE - DEMOCRAT solicits your patronage solely on its merits as a truly great newspaper. It prints all the news of all the world. It long since realized that the day of the party organ has passed: that the newspaper that claims to wield the largest and most salutary influence must consider public questions upon the single basis of right; that the interests of the country and the general welfare of the people should not be subordinated to the interests of any organization, political or otherwise, and during the last few years it has shaped its course upon this conviction. That course will be continued Every reader of the GLOBE-DEMOCRAT, whatever his party, must admit that, while he may not always agree with its opinions, they are nevertheless founded upon sincere judgment of the right, and that, we assert, is the essential quality of the editorial policy of a newspaper. In its presentation of the news the GLOBE DEMOCRAT endeavors to be accurate, fair and impartial in presenting facts without color or prejudice.
